OLE PROVIDES TEAM NEWS UPDATE FOR WEST HAM CLASH

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows he must make changes to his Manchester United line-up as the Reds take on West Ham United this Saturday teatime with a 17:30 BST kick-off.

Luke Shaw and Ashley Young are both suspended and there are still injury and illness concerns for the manager to deal with.

Shaw starts a two-game domestic ban for accumulating 10 yellow cards over the course of the season, while Young is sidelined following his sending off in our last league outing, the 2-1 defeat at Wolves.

“We don't have full-backs this week,” he told MUTV. “Not too many as we've lost Luke and Ashley through suspension. Antonio [Valencia] is still not fit. Maybe Matteo [Darmian] will be available for the bench and [Marcos] Rojo has been training for a while.

”He's available and we've got Jonah [Phil Jones], who could also play there. Rojo needed to get out on the big pitch [in the Under-23s, against West Brom last Friday] so he could have that game but we've had a couple of practice matches so let's see what we decide.“

Ander Herrera is still out and fellow midfielder Nemanja Matic must be rated doubtful after he missed the 1-0 loss to Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday.

There was some hope Alexis Sanchez could feature against the Hammers after a week's training but the game may come a little too soon for the Chilean.

“We're getting better and better but, of course, Nemanja fell ill,” added Ole. “I'm not sure he's going to be ready. Alexis is getting close but I'm not sure he'll be ready yet.”

Samir Nasri could be absent with a calf problem for the visitors but Jack Wilshere is making progress and played for the Londoners' Under-23s at the weekend. However, he may not be risked at Old Trafford.

Striker Andy Carroll remains sidelined after an operation while Andriy Yarmolenko, Carlos Sanchez and Winston Reid are also definitely unavailable due to injury.

Re: [EPL] Manchester United vs West Ham United

YOUR ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO UNITED V WEST HAM

After a spirited display against Barcelona in midweek, Manchester United return to Premier League action on Saturday evening as the Reds welcome West Ham United to Old Trafford.

The Hammers make the journey to the north west on the back of one win in their last four Premier League games, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will be looking to pick up maximum points following recent league defeats at Arsenal and Wolves.

The Reds will also be eager to make amends for the reverse fixture against West Ham, when we were beaten 3-1 at the London Stadium in September.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the game...

HOW CAN I FOLLOW THE GAME?

Saturday's match kicks off at 17:30 BST and will be shown live on BT Sport in the UK. MUTV subscribers will be able to follow live build-up ahead of the match from 15:30 BST, and you can also follow our usual coverage on ManUtd.com and in the official Manchester United App, which is available to download here.

WHAT'S THE TEAM NEWS?

Luke Shaw, who will also miss the Barcelona second leg through suspension, will begin serving the first game of his two-match league ban after he picked up his 10th yellow card in our defeat to Wolves on 2 April. Fellow defender Ashley Young will also be absent after his red card in the same match at Molineux. On the injury front, Solskjaer's squad has been boosted by the return of Alexis Sanchez to training, with the Chilean having been out of action since our 3-2 win over Southampton at the beginning of March. Marcos Rojo has recovered from injury and could be available for selection while it remains to be seen if Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic will be available after missing Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg. Ole could provide an update on his squad in his pre-match press conference, which will take place on Friday. You can follow updates in the app from 10:00 BST.

WHAT ABOUT WEST HAM?

Our opponents are beset with injuries, with as many as seven players on the treatment table. Michail Antonio was due to start against Chelsea but was a late withdrawal with an ankle problem while Samir Nasri, who was also in the squad for their most recent defeat at Stamford Bridge, also had an issue with his calf that prevented him from playing. Two players that may be close to making a return to Manuel Pellegrini's squad are Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez. Former Arsenal man Wilshere made a return from a long-standing ankle injury last weekend for the Under-23s, while Sanchez has been out of action since September with an ACL knee injury.

HOW ARE THEY GETTING ON?

The Hammers currently occupy 11th spot in the Premier League table and are embroiled in a closely-fought contest for seventh place going into the latest round of fixtures. After a troubling start to the season, which saw them lose their first four games in the league, West Ham eventually found their feet under former Manchester City boss Pellegrini, with their best run of form coming in December with five wins from seven games. More recently, though, their form has stagnated with a useful point against Liverpool contrasted by a sobering defeat against relegation-threatened Cardiff City. Despite this, the visitors are only five points away from seventh, the spot currently occupied by Wolves. And with fixtures against Leicester, Tottenham and Watford to come, they may prove crucial if the Hammers want to be the best of the rest this season.

WHAT'S OUR RECORD LIKE AGAINST WEST HAM?

We have a very strong record at Old Trafford against West Ham, with the Reds only losing at home twice to the Hammers in the Premier League era. It has been a fixture that usually provides goals for United, with 12 of our 18 wins over the Hammers at home being by two goals or more. The highest-scoring victory was in April 2000, where we eased past the London outfit in a 7-1 victory. Our most recent encounter at the Theatre of Dreams was 18 months ago - and that too was a high scoring affair. Romelu Lukaku dazzled in his first league appearance for the Reds as the Belgian scored a brace, along with late strikes from our French duo Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba, in a 4-0 win to get the 2017/18 campaign off to a flyer.

WHO'S THE REFEREE?

Graham Scott will take charge of his first United game of the season on Saturday evening. The 51-year-old, from Oxfordshire, last oversaw the Reds' 2-0 victory over Bournemouth in April 2018 and will be assisted by Mick McDonough and Neil Davies. Michael Oliver, who officiated our 3-1 defeat to the Hammers earlier in the campaign, will be the fourth official.
