Luis Suarez has given Barcelona an injury scare ahead of their Champions League clash with Manchester United.

The 32-year-old Uruguay forward scored one and provided another as Barca won 4-1 at Real Betis on Sunday evening, but was taken off in the dying stages of the game.

The La Liga leaders have now confirmed that Suarez 'has a sprained right ankle' and will miss the upcoming international break.

Barcelona said in a statement: 'The approximate time of loss will be between 10 and 15 days.

'The player will make his recovery with the medical services of the club and will not join with the selection of Uruguay.'

Barca travel to Old Trafford for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against United on April 10.

GIGGSY'S ADVICE FOR OLE AGAINST BARCELONA

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has joked his old team-mate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should put himself on the bench for the upcoming Champions League tie against Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

We were paired with the Spanish league leaders in last Friday’s quarter-final draw and the first leg will be held at Old Trafford on 10 April, before the return fixture takes place in Spain six days later.

Twenty years have passed since Solskjaer scored what is arguably the most famous goal in Reds history – the late winner against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final at the Nou Camp.

Ole’s return to Barcelona this season has a touch of fate about it and Giggs offered some amusing advice for his Norwegian friend, while speaking exclusively to us at the Aon Training Complex.

“It’s tough – I think most people wanted to stay away from Barcelona [in the draw],” Ryan told us during a lengthy conversation. “Ole, especially, has got good memories of the Nou Camp. I don’t know whether he’ll put himself on the bench that night. He might have to think about that!

“After beating PSG in the manner we did, with the spirit and character showed, I don’t think anybody will be looking forward to facing us either.”

Solskjaer’s United qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals with an incredible 3-1 away win against Paris Saint-Germain, who were heavily tipped to progress following a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.

That success in France was particularly remarkable because the squad was missing 10 first-team players through injury, and influential midfielder Paul Pogba was also suspended for the tie.

“I think it’s up there as one of the greatest-ever performances, especially away from home in Europe,” Giggs explained to us. “Not many people fancied us with a full team, never mind with the injury problems we had and the suspension to Paul. So, to do that, in the manner we did, against a team full of quality, it has to rank as one of the greatest ever.”

Manchester United have hit back against Barcelona by charging the Spanish club's fans £102 for tickets in order to subsidise entry for their own supporters to the Nou Camp.

The two teams will meet in the Champions League quarter-finals but United fans have been hit by extortionate prices.

The Spanish giants are charging United supporters a staggering £102 per ticket - the most expensive fee in United's history outside of a final.

In response, United have now confirmed they will subsidise the cost of an away ticket by making the 'difficult decision' to charge Barcelona fans the same price for the first leg at Old Trafford.

A club statement read: 'In this instance we believe that our travelling supporters are again being subjected to increased/excessive ticket prices from the host club.

'We have again taken the difficult decision to charge FC Barcelona fans for the home leg at Old Trafford the same amount that FC Barcelona are charging for the away fixture (£102).

'We will use the additional revenue gained from this to subsidise our travelling support by paying the £27 price difference for each of our travelling supporters.'

United fans will now be charged a more reasonable £75 for their entry to the Nou Camp when they return to the scene of their dramatic 1999 Champions League triumph.

The Red Devils have been given 4,610 tickets for the game.

United also stepped in to help their supporters by subsidising tickets for the group game in Valencia earlier this season and in the knockout stages against Sevilla last campaign.

DID A HOTEL HELP UNITED TO BEAT BARCELONA IN 1984?

Ron Atkinson has hinted that a city-centre hotel may have helped his Manchester United side to beat Barcelona in that unforgettable European Cup Winners' Cup tie at Old Trafford, exactly 35 years ago.

Speaking on The Paddy Crerand Show on Monday evening, while also celebrating his 80th birthday, the former Reds manager recalled the famous atmosphere and talked of a cunning plan to unsettle the visitors from Catalonia.

Ahead of the fixture, Ron believes that the decision to put Barcelona in a hotel based right in the heart of Manchester may have led to the visitors' undoing.

“Somebody once asked me what the key moment in that game was. I said it was the night before when we made sure they were in a city hotel, with plenty of noise going about. Maradona liked all that and he joined in [laughs].”

“I can virtually remember every moment of the game,” Atkinson added. “I’ve never ever been in any football match anywhere in the world that had the atmosphere that match had that night. It was absolutely unbelievable.

”Martin Edwards told me before the game: ‘you’ll hear a noise like you’ve never heard before.' It sounded like there must have been 200,000 fans at the game.“

The Reds kicked off at Old Trafford needing to overturn a two-goal deficit after a defeat at the Nou Camp two weeks earlier. And it was Atkinson's team that took the lead after 20 minutes with Bryan Robson's bullet header setting the tone for what was set to be a night to remember for the 58,000 fortunate fans in attendance.

Spurred on by the vociferous crowd, the Reds then forced the hosts into a series of mistakes. Five minutes into the second half Barcelona's keeper, Urruti, was unable to sufficiently clear a poor back pass and moments later parried the ball straight into the path of Robson, who levelled the scores on aggregate.

Old Trafford didn't wait long for the winner, which came three minutes later when Norman Whiteside's header fell to Frank Stapleton, who lashed the ball into the net. That proved to be the difference and United advanced to the semi-finals.

Thirty-five years on, Atkinson hopes that the United squad of 2019 will emulate the success his side had against the Spanish giants.

“It’s going to be a tremendously hard game for Barca. It’s a hard game for United too. I must admit I didn’t give them a chance in Paris, because Paris Saint-Germain in Manchester looked terrific.

”Anything is possible. It would need United to play absolutely at the top of their game. Play at the top of their game and they can do it.“

Manchester - Barcelona memasang harga tinggi ke pendukung Manchester United yang akan menyaksikan duel kedua tim di Camp Nou pada babak delapan besar Liga Champions. Selembar tiket dibanderol Rp 1,9 juta.

Barcelona akan menjamu Manchester United pada laga leg kedua babak perempatfinal Liga Champions. Untuk laga pada 11 April tersebut, manajemen Barca menetapkan harga tiket sebesar 102 pound sterling (sekitar Rp 1,9 juta) untuk suporter MU.

Melalui situs resminya, MU memprotes kebijakan Barcelona. Sebagai gantinya, manajemen The Red Devils 'terpaksa' ikut menaikkan harga tiket untuk suporter The Catalans. Dengan begitu mereka bisa memberikan subsidi sebesar 27 pound sterling buat fans yang akan berangkat ke Spanyol.

"Dalam kondisi ini kami percaya suporter kami yang akan melakukan perjalanan kembali menjadi korban peningkatan/berlebihannya harga tiket dari tuan rumah..."

Kami kembali harus mengambil keputusan sulit untuk membebani fans Barcelona pada laga di Old Trafford dengan harga yang sama seperti yang ditetapkan pada laga away kami (102 pound sterling). Keuntungan tambahan ini akan kami gunakan untuk mensubsidi suporter kami yang akan melakukan perjalanan dengan membayar 27 pound sterling perbedaan harga untuk tiap suporter," demikian pernyataan MU.

Bukan pertama kalinya MU memprotes harga tiket tim lawan dan kemudian ikut menaikkan harga tiket Old Trafford demi mensubsidi suporternya. Pada musim lalu, The Red Devils melakukan itu sama saat menghadapi Sevilla di Liga Champions.

Soal kenaikan harga tiket pertandingan Liga Champions, fans MU tidak sendiri. Pendukung Bayern Munich juga jadi korban kenaikan harga karcis pertandingan saat harus mendukung Manuel Neuer dkk di Anfield pada babak 16 besar.
