Memphis Depay (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈmɛmfɪs dəˈpɑi] ; born 13 February 1994) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a winger for Dutch club PSV and the Netherlands national team.

Club career
In 2011, Memphis was on trial for PSV Eindhoven's first team while playing for Jong PSV – the club's reserve team. He made his official debut on 21 September 2011 in a KNVB Cup match against amateur side VVSB. During this match he scored two goals. His first Eredivisie match was 26 February 2012, when PSV beat rivals Feyenoord with 3-2 in Eindhoven. Memphis featured in the KNVB Cup final on 8 April 2012 under interim coach Phillip Cocu, and was officially deployed in the first team the following day. On 29 June 2012, Memphis signed his first professional contract with PSV, tying himself to the Philips Stadion club until 2017.

Memphis scored his first goal in European football on 30 July 2013, when he drifted in from the left and then smashed the ball into the top corner past goalkeeper Sammy Bossut as PSV defeated Zulte Waregem 2—0 in the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie. PSV failed to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League, but in their second group stage match in the Europa League, Memphis scored again, this time curling the ball into the net from outside the area, as the Dutch side defeated Chornomorets Odesa 2—0 on 3 October.

Memphis provided the assist for Tim Matavž 's goal against Roda JC on 27 October 2013, but picked up two second-half yellow cards and was sent off for the first time in his professional career as PSV slumped to a 2—1 defeat.

On 15 December, Memphis helped PSV to just their second win in 13 matches, scoring twice in a 5—1 win over Utrecht.

Memphis helped PSV rack up their eighth win a row on 23 March 2014, a 3—1 win over Roda JC, having a hand in Bryan Ruiz's game-winning goal despite wearing a protective mask to cover a bruised eye socket suffered in a challenge with Renato Ibarra of Vitesse on 15 March.

He helped PSV secure a place in
European competition for the 41st consecutive year, edging the ball past goalkeeper Jelle ten Rouwelaar to score PSV's first in a 2—0 win over NAC Breda; the final day win ensured that PSV would finish fourth in the Eredivisie table.

After a successful showing in the 2014 World Cup, Memphis was linked to a number of clubs, including Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Amidst all the speculations surrounding Memphis' future, he started the season for PSV in impressive fashion. Memphis came off the bench to score one goal and deliver one assist in the return game of the Europa League 3rd qualifying round-tie between PSV and SKN St. Pölten . PSV progressed to the play-off round after a 3–2 away win, giving them a 4–2 aggregate win over the Austrians. In the opening game of the Eredivisie-season, Memphis played a major part in PSV's 3–1 away win against promoted side Willem II by scoring two goals. Memphis improved on this performance in the following game, scoring two free kicks and delivering the assist for
Wijnaldum's goal in a convincing 6–1 home win against NAC Breda.

Memphis then suffered a groin injury during PSV's 3–1 defeat at PEC Zwolle and he was substituted after playing 18 minutes.

On 18 April 2015, Memphis scored the second goal with a free kick in a 4–1 home win over Heerenveen to give PSV their 22nd Eredivisie title, and first since 2008.

International career
Memphis made his international debut on 15 October 2013, coming on for Jeremain Lens in the last minute of a 2–0 away win against Turkey in World Cup qualification.

Memphis was selected by Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal in the final 23-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He came on as a substitute before the halftime whistle to replace defender Bruno Martins Indi who had sustained a head injury in the second group match against Australia , and in the 68th minute he scored the winning goal, a swerving effort from outside the box.

He also set up Robin van Persie's equaliser. He became the youngest Dutchman to score a goal at the World Cup, at the age of 20 years and four months.

He came on as a substitute again in the final group match against Chile on 23 June in São Paulo and scored the second goal for the Dutch, tapping in an Arjen Robben cross, as they clinched first place with a 2–0 victory.

On 11 July, Memphis was named on the three-man shortlist for the tournament's Best Young Player award.

Personal life
Memphis is the son of a Ghanaian father and a Dutch mother.
Memphis has numerous tattoos, including one that is a tribute to his grandfather. He also had a tattoo on the inside of his lip.

Bayern Munich have joined Manchester United and Liverpool in the race to sign Memphis Depay.

The PSV Eindhoven star's talents have been compared to those of a young Cristiano Ronaldo by Ronald de Boer, who also claims United could have the edge over Liverpool in a battle for the Holland forward.

The 21-year-old Dutch international has played a starring role in PSV's Eredivisie title success this season. He is the subject of offers from Liverpool and Paris St Germain while United have also made contact.

De Boer has been impressed and suggested he could follow in the footsteps of one of Old Trafford's former greats and become one of the world's best players.

'(Depay) is one of the biggest talents in Europe,' said De Boer on talkSPORT.

'He has skill compared to a young Cristiano Ronaldo. He is very lively, technically unbelievable, very skilful, very fast, he has a great goalscoring record, he can shoot from every distance - he has everything.

'For me, he is without doubt one of the best talents we have.'

De Boer, the former Ajax, Barcelona and Holland midfielder who is now assistant manager of Ajax's youth team, believes the presence of Louis van Gaal as manager could give United an advantage. Depay played under Van Gaal during the latter's spell as national team boss.

'I don't want to say which club is more suitable for him, but if he goes to United he knows there is a Dutch coach there who knows him from the World Cup,' said De Boer. 'That is an advantage.'

Pep Guardiola and his staff are planning for the long-term with wingers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery growing older and picking up more injuries. Bayern are keen on Wolfsburg's Kevin de Bruyne too and Real Madrid's Gareth Bale.

The latter wants to stay in Spain but De Bruyne, a firm target for Manchester City, could be sold at around £40m while PSV want £20m for Depay.

Liverpool hope to convince Depay that he would get more regular football with them but their qualification for the Champions League could be crucial to the 23-goal winger choosing them over United.

PSV value Depay at £25million and rejected a £14million bid from Tottenham for him last summer.

PSV Eindhoven general manager Toon Gerbrands said: 'We have given an indication of the price for Depay, which is probably more than €25m. Therefore we can have no quibbles with Depay's management [over the price].

Gerbrands added: 'Depay must first reach an agreement with a club and if that club are willing to pay the transfer fee then he can leave quickly.'

Manajemen Red Devils disebut bakal segera menggelar pertemuan untuk membahas rancangan kontrak bagi Depay.

Manchester United dilaporkan telah menemui titik sepakat dengan PSV Eindhoven terkait proses transfer yang melibatkan Memphis Depay.

Penyerang 21 tahun itu tampil impresif musim ini, mengemas 20 gol sejauh ini yang mampu mengantar PSV merengkuh gelar juara Eredivisie pertama kali dalam tujuh tahun terakhir.

Kinerja tersebut mampu membuat United kepincut dan kabarnya awal pekan ini telah mengajukan tawaran resmi kepada klub raksasa Belanda tersebut.

Menurut Voetbal International, PSV dan United sudah sepakat soal nominal transfer, dan kini manajemen Red Devils memasuki tahapan negosiasi kontrak dengan Depay.

Depay telah membukukan total 48 gol dalam 121 penampilannya bersama PSV.

Moga aja United nggak berpikiran hanya dengan adanya LVG membuat satu kaki Depay udah di United. Tetep aja klo emang berminat segera nego. Jangan sampe diserobot hanya krn United santai2 aja.
