Massimiliano Allegri

Massimiliano Allegri wants to include Manchester United legend Patrice Evra on his backroom staff if he takes over at Old Trafford... after winning two titles together in Italy

* Italian boss Massimiliano Allegri has courted interest from Manchester United
* Allegri is currently out of a job after stepping down as Juventus manager
* Allegri would want to bring Patrice Evra with him to Old Trafford if he joined
* The Frenchman played for the Red Devils between of 2006 and 2014

Massimiliano Allgeri would want Patrice Evra to join him on his backroom staff at Manchester United if he is appointed manager.

Evra played for the English giants between 2006- and 2014 - winning five Premier League titles and one Champions League - and a return to Old Trafford would prove a hugely popular decision among fans.

Allegri, who has also attracted interest from Tottenham, is being courted as a future manager at United after a disappointing start to the season, which sees them sit 12th in the Premier League.

Evra has often expressed his desire to return to Old Trafford to help the club back to the glory days after losing their dominant title within England.

The Italian boss - currently out of a job after stepping down as Juventus boss at the end of last season - has promised the former French left-back he'll include him among his backroom team in the event of an agreement with United.

Allegri and Erva won two Serie A titles together at Juventus and the pair enjoyed a very strong relationship during their time in Turin.

Evra would be the perfect understudy for Allegri due to his wealth of knowledge of both English football and United in particular.

Evra watched Tottenham's Champions League defeat vs Bayern Munich with Allegri. Allegri has his eyes set on a move to the Premier League after stepping down as Juventus boss

Allegri would continue to have his deputy, Marco Landucci, beside him at Old Trafford despite the involvement of Evra.

Evra has hinted at a possible future link-up with Allegri just recently, posting a picture alongside him while watching Tottenham's humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The 38-year-old tweeted: 'So great to watch a match with you guys. I love the knowledge we share together and the advice and I know the future is bright for all of us.'

Allegri - who is not looking for another job in Italy due to his connection with Juventus - has his eyes firmly set on a move to England, which was recently confirmed by Gianluigi Buffon's agent, Silvano Martina.

Massimiliano Allegri 'is very close to Manchester United with a deal worth over £6.5m a season being discussed' and former Juventus boss plans to bring ex-Liverpool midfielder Emre Can and Mario Mandzukic with him

* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has endured a difficult start to the season with United
* It is reported that Massimiliano Allegri is very close to agreeing deal to take over
* Ex-Juventus boss is out of work and a £6.5million-a-year deal is being discussed
* He is said to want to bring Emre Can and Mario Mandzukic to Old Trafford too

Massimiliano Allegri is 'very close' to agreeing a deal to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United's manager, according to reports.

Solskjaer has endured a difficult start to the season and the Premier League giants sit 15 points off the top just eight matches in.

And now, according to Tuttosport, United's hierarchy are ready to act and are closing in on the appointment of former Juventus boss Allegri in a deal worth £6.5m a year.

Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly close to agreeing a £6.5m-a-season deal at Man United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suffered a disastrous start to the season and could soon be sacked

It has been reported by the Italian paper that Allegri wants to bring former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can and Mario Mandzukic, the Croatian striker, with him as he plans an overhaul at Old Trafford.

Last season, Jose Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United before Christmas and there is the possibility that Solskjaer could suffer the same fate.

Following United's latest defeat, away at Newcastle before the international break, talks with Allegri are said to have intensified.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are also keeping tabs on the ex-Juventus boss with the future of their own manager Mauricio Pochettino still unclear.

The situation is expected to be cleared up relatively quickly, with Allegri pushing for United to decide quickly as he wants as much time as possible to revive the club's 'already-compromised' season.

'I speak English too poorly for now, but I'm learning': Max Allegri confirms he's having lessons as he prepares for life in the Premier League... and heaps praise on 'special' Mario Mandzukic as Man United look to seal January deal

* Massimiliano Allegri is believed to be close to taking over at Manchester United
* The Italian intensified the speculation by confirming he is trying to learn English
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under huge pressure following dismal start to the season
* Allegri also called United's summer target Mario Mandzukic a 'special player'

Massimiliano Allegri has intensified speculation he is primed to take over at Manchester United after revealing he is learning English.

The Italian, who is available after leaving Juventus at the end of last season, is believed to be on United's radar amid uncertainty around Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's future.

United have made a dismal start to this campaign and sit 12th in the Premier League table, having won just two of their opening eight games.

Solskjaer is under increasing pressure to turn things around and is expected to be axed should United suffer a heavy defeat against rivals Liverpool this Sunday.

According to reports in Italy, Allegri is already in discussions with United over a £6.5million deal to replace Solskjaer.

And Allegri confirmed to Przeglad Sportowy that he is preparing for life in the Premier League.

'I don't speak English enough yet, but I'm learning,' he said. Tuttosport claim that Allegri will look to bring Emre Can and Mario Mandzukic with him to Old Trafford from his former club Juventus in January.

Can has been restricted to cameo appearances while Mandzukic, who was a target for United in the summer, is yet to feature for Juventus at all this season.

Allegri has a strong working relationship with Mandzukic, having signed him for Juventus in 2015, and heaped praise on the Croatian striker.

He added: 'Mandzukic is a special player for me. He gave amazing room for manoeuvre. Great footballer.

'He often changed clubs, so he had difficult patches. But he stayed at Juventus for five years. This is one of my biggest successes.'

Mandzukic is one of six names on United's January wishlist, with the club also interested in Moussa Dembele, Saul Niguez and James Maddison.

Former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri holding out for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United job

* Massimiliano Allegri left Juventus in the summer after trophy-laden Serie A spell
* Italian is currently looking for new challenge and is keen on Manchester United
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure after just two wins from last six games

Massimiliano Allegri has his eye on the Manchester United job should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Old Trafford reign end in the coming months.

The 52-year-old Italian left Juventus last summer after sealing a fifth consecutive Serie A title and is looking for a fresh challenge.

Sportsmail understands that, since leaving Juve, Allegri has been holding off on an immediate return to management in the hope of eventually taking over at United.

Former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri is looking for a return to football management. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure after a poor run of form

It is believed Arsenal were dissuaded from approaching him last month as they searched for a manager to replace the sacked Unai Emery.

Solskjaer does not feel in danger of the sack, but he admitted that Tuesday's first-half capitulation in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Manchester City was the worst his side have played all season.

United have just two wins in their last six games.

Allegri has suitors across Europe and is the sort of high-profile candidate United would look to hire should Solskjaer leave.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is also keeping a close watch on developments.

Allegri would likely demand a defined structure at his next club, having previously worked under strong sporting directors.
