RASHFORD FULLY FIT TO FACE SOUTHAMPTON

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Marcus Rashford has overcome an ankle problem and could start Saturday’s Premier League match against Southampton.

The 21-year-old, who already has 10 goals to his name this season, picked up the knock in last Sunday’s match against Liverpool at Old Trafford, but was forced to play on due to subsequent injuries suffered by Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard.

However, Rashford was able to make a cameo substitute appearance in the 3-1 win at Crystal Palace three days later, and now Solskjaer believes Marcus is back to full health.

“Rashford is fully fit now. I’ll probably start him,” the boss informed the media, at his pre-match press conference at the Aon Training Complex on Friday morning.

“I don’t think there will be many changes,” he continued. “It's the last session today, but we're not going to take any risks, so maybe Anthony [Martial], but it might just be even a few more days before he's ready, so probably the squad will look similar to what it did on Wednesday.

“Maybe one third of them will be Academy kids – maybe even more – so that’s a good point to take out of it.”

The Reds made it a club record eight away wins on the spin at Selhurst Park, but the Norwegian has now turned his attentions to bringing the team’s home form back towards optimum levels.

“It’s about getting back to winning ways at home,” declared Ole. “The Liverpool game was a draw, and the Burnley game before that was a draw, so we need to start picking up more points at home. So that’s the focus now.”

WHAT ABOUT SOUTHAMPTON?

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have lost just one of their five away games in all competitions during 2019, and head into Saturday’s fixture fresh from a 2-0 win over fellow relegation strugglers Fulham, in what proved to be Claudio Ranieri’s final game in charge of the Cottagers.

Former Liverpool striker Danny Ings missed the game in midweek, due to a hamstring complaint, while an injury of the same nature has ruled out Republic of Ireland international Michael Obafemi for the remainder of the campaign.

Southampton's former record signing, Mario Lemina – who played with Paul Pogba during his time at Juventus – is also a doubt for the clash at Old Trafford.

The Saints are looking to avoid defeat against United for a third successive league match, something they are yet to achieve in the Premier League era.

Lukaku sang penyelamat, tapi sering buang buang peluang sih emang doinya. Pereira dan Dalot menurut saya sang pengubah permainan saat kedudukan menjadi 2-1

Manchester United got off lightly with penalty calls against Southampton

* There were some dubious decisions in 3-2 victory for Manchester United
* Chris Smalling got away with one after holding Ryan Bertrand's shirt in the box
* Ashley Young also committed foul that should have been given as a spot kick

There were a number of contentious decisions in the thrilling game between Manchester United and Southampton on Saturday.

Referee Stuart Atwell had his work cut out and the Saints can feel hard done by after losing 3-2 at Old Trafford.

Here, Sportsmail's Mark Clattenburg casts his expert eye over three incidents from the game.

Chris Smalling was lucky to get away with his challenge on Ryan Bertrand in the box

Chris Smalling on Ryan Bertrand

PENALTY — This should have resulted in the award of a spot-kick, but it was a difficult one for referee Stuart Attwell.

The holding of Bertrand’s shirt by Smalling happened on the blind side of the official. The best angle to see the offence would have been from behind the goal.

Yan Valery on Alexis Sanchez

NO PENALTY — This one was not a spot-kick. The hold from Valery was so slight that it did not affect Sanchez’s ability to play the ball.

If you gave a penalty for this, then you would be giving more than 10 every game!

Ashley Young on Ryan Bertrand

PENALTY — Southampton can feel wronged because they should also have been awarded a penalty for this one.

Bertrand ran across Young and the Manchester United defender grabbed the wrist of the forward, pulling him down. Attwell missed it and allowed play to continue.

kalo sudah pake VAR, Soton dah dapat 2 penalti & United bisa kalah tuh :P

OFFICIAL APP STATS REVEAL SECRETS OF WEEKEND WIN

The winner may not have come until the closing stages but there was little doubt Manchester United deserved the three points against Southampton.

Fans who followed the match in our Official App will have seen how the action ebbed and flowed, using our all-new Match Centre which showcased live statistics from Old Trafford.

Not only is possession monitored but also team momentum as the game swung one way and then the other, with some cracking goals along the way.

United made 293 passes forward, compared to 198 from the visitors, and had 28 touches in the opposition box, while the Saints managed 15.

In our 'Influencers' section on the Match Centre, users can dig deep into all the players' involvement throughout the 90 minutes.

For instance, Diogo Dalot's influence as a second-half substitute becomes clearer and it is possible to see how Paul Pogba's defensive discipline was evident - particularly after being moved into a more central role in the second half, allowing Andreas Pereira, who bagged his first Premier League goal, to push forward.

Andreas kept his passing snappy, with 31 short passes and no long balls attempted, while, in contrast, Pogba made 10 long passes from a deeper position. Both had 81 per cent passing accuracy but the Brazil international made more successful passes (73%) than the Frenchman (60%) in the final third.

Captain Ashley Young saw more of the ball than anyone else on the pitch and had 103 touches, combining most with Chris Smalling. Each individual's 'best mate' is showcased in the Official App, which illustrates which colleague they passed most to.

With Luke Shaw also having a high number of touches, 91, it becomes obvious that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer used the full-backs to good effect in a bid to break through the visiting defence.

Two-goal Romelu Lukaku's Man-of-the-Match display was analysed by us after the game, using the Opta stats, and he was confirmed as the 'top influencer' in the 3-2 success.

The Saints game was the first time the live data was available to our App users but you can access previous games and, of course, it is another way of following the progress of the Champions League last-16 second leg at Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, perhaps as a second-screen experience while viewing the tie on television?

The live view of who is influencing the game and assessing the ever-changing momentum will also be supported by our commentary and in-match insight from our reporters in the French capital.

This is your way to follow any United match - and create your own unique insight into the action, even as it unfolds.
