European Team of the Week: Leighton Baines, Fredy Guarin & Paul Pogba Star

It's little surprise to see Jose Reina make the WhoScored.com Team of the Week after saving a Mario Balotelli penalty in Napoli's historic 2-1 win over AC Milan, their first victory at the San Siro in 27 years. The Italian netted each of his previous 13 league spot kicks. The Spaniard made seven saves in total to keep Allegri's side at bay and successfully claimed 4 crosses to pick up an exceptional rating of 9.7.

Everton's Leighton Baines was the star of the show in the back line, converting two beautiful free kicks to earn the Toffees the three points at West Ham. His first sailed into Jussi Jaaskelainen's top right corner before topping that effort to bend one in off the Finn's left post from a near identical position.

Elsewhere in the defence Wolfsburg's Naldo made four tackles, seven interceptions and successfully dribbled the ball out from the back against Hoffenheim three times. He's partnered here by Verona's Greek centre-back Vangelis Moras who picked up an assist against Juve, winning five aerial duels and six interceptions, while Bordeaux's Mariano takes his place on the right having made a huge nine interceptions and seven tackles against Lorient.

A hat-trick from Barcelona winger Pedro was unsurprisingly enough to earn the Spanish international a hefty WhoScored.com rating of 9.5 on the right. He was clinical in the victory over Rayo Vallecano, scoring with all three of his shots on target, while on the opposite flank Bayer Leverkusen's Robbie Kruse, making his first Bundesliga start for the club, was equally influential. The Australian netted twice and picked up an assist in Sami Hyypia's side's 4-1 win at Mainz on Saturday.

It comes as little shock that more than one Internazionale player makes the XI following their 7-0 annihilation of newly-promoted Sassuolo. The first is Colombian Fredy Guarin. The 27-year old was one of what seemed like a minority of visiting players not on the scoresheet but he picked up an assist from four key passes, attempted five shots and completed three dribbles in an impressive attacking display.

Alongside the South American, Juventus' Paul Pogba continues to display the sort of form that will leave United fans regretting the young Frenchman's departure. The midfielder had 100 touches in the victory over Verona, attempting eight shots—one of which hit the woodwork—winning seven aerial duels and six tackles.

Up front Inter's Ricardo Alvarez was WhoScored.com's Player of the Week across Europe's top five leagues, picking up a perfect 10 rating after another hugely encouraging display. Walter Mazzarri is finally getting the best out of the Argentine, who scored his second goal and picked up his second assist of the season in the 7-0 drubbing of Sassuolo. With a further eight dribbles to his name he was a constant thorn in the side of Serie A's bottom club.

Werder Bremen forward Nils Petersen, who ended a run of 16 league games without a goal with a brace against free-falling Hamburg, joins him up front. The second of those strikes was a delicious chip over Rene Adler after the keeper had made his way forward for an injury time corner for the hosts.

Bayern Paling Dominan, Dortmund Paling Menyerang, Barca Paling Akurat


Sejauh musim ini bergulir, Bayern Munich tercatat sebagai tim dengan ball possession tertinggi dibanding tim-tim lain di lima liga top Eropa. Klub rival mereka di Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund, adalah yang paling ofensif.

Demikian antara lain hasil kalkulasi situs statistik Whoscored.com, khusus untuk kompetisi Liga Inggris, Jerman, Spanyol, Italia dan Prancis, sampai pertandingan akhir pekan lalu.

Dalam hal penguasaan bola (ball possession), Bayern ada di urutan teratas dengan 71,1%. Pelatih Pep Guardiola dipandang telah melengkapi gaya pressing Bayern dengan kombinasi passing, sebagaimana telah jadi gayanya sewaktu membesut Barcelona.

Barcelona sendiri, yang sangat identik dengan atribut ball possession, berada di posisi kedua dengan angka 67,8%. Pelatih baru mereka, Gerardo Martino, memberi opsi lain pada tiki-taka Los Cules, antara lain dengan melakukan bola-bola jauh.

Dalam hal penyerangan, Dortmund tercatat sebagai tim yang paling sering melepaskan tembakan di wilayah pertahanan tim-tim lawannya -- dan paling banyak on target pula. Robert Lewandoski dkk. membuat rata-rata 23,9 shot per game. Angka on target-nya adalah 9,3 per game. Dari 8 pertandingannya di liga, mereka menghasilkan 21 gol, terbanyak di antara tim-tim lain.

Real Madrid ada di urutan kedua di kategori shot per game (21,1), disusul Bayern di posisi ketiga dengan 19,4 shot per game. Tottenham Hotspur juga termasuk tim yang paling rajin melepaskan tembakan, dengan rata-rata 18,7. Klub Inggris itu bahkan sedikit lebih sering melakukannya daripada Barcelona, yang "hanya" membuat 18,6 shot per game.
