Fletcher backs loan system


Darren Fletcher believes the benefits of the loan system are tangible - as a host of young Manchester United players have proved this season.

Will Keane is currently preparing for Queens Park Rangers' Championship play-off final with Derby County this weekend while Tom Lawrence recently proved the value of his spells at Carlisle United and Yeovil Town by earning a first-team debut against Hull City.

Although Fletcher did not go out on loan himself, the Scot has seen colleagues mature in front of his eyes when returning from their character-building experiences.

"You see some of the lads go out and come back while others go and thrive," Fletcher told*MUTV. "It sets you up for playing against men. All due respect to the Under-21s but it's just a step up from the youth team really.*

"It's not like back in the day when you played against men and older players. It's about going out to compete against men in matches that means something, whether that's staying in the league, chasing play-off places or even the other players have got contracts to fight for by staying in the league.

"That side of things is important. They will see a lot of things in the dressing room, like arguments, which will make them into men. They need that so, when they come back, they walk differently, and are more comfortable around the first-team players. Hence, they're more comfortable when they train with the first team."

Sam Johnstone admits that Doncaster Rovers' relegation to League One makes it unlikely that he will return next season following a loan spell from Manchester United.

After injury cut short his initial loan spell at Yeovil Town, Johnstone ended the campaign with Rovers, where he made 18 league appearances and kept regular goalkeeper Ross Turnbull out of the side.

The 21-year-old impressed during his time at the Keepmoat Stadium but was unable to prevent Paul Dickov's side from dropping into the third tier, a league he would be reluctant to play in.

"I'd like to be playing in at least the Championship next season," he told the Sheffield Star.

"I've done well at that level this season so it would be best for me to at least stay at that level.

"If Rovers had stayed up then I would definitely have been interested in coming back, if United were happy with that.

"Going to Doncaster and playing so many games was brilliant for my development and I want to kick on from that next season."

However, Johnstone remains uncertain as to where he will play his football next season as he waits to see what Louis van Gaal has planned for him at Old Trafford.

"I don't really know what is happening with my future at the minute because of the change of manager at United," he said.

"There's going to be a lot of changes over the summer and I'm sure the new manager will want to assess everything before any decisions are made."

mungkin sebaiknya pemain2 reserve dipinjemin ke berbagai klub untuk mencari pengalaman lebih dan pastinya balik lagi ke MU udh bisalah berkembang dan jadi andalan. Semoga ga terulang membuang pemain macem Pogba

Hebat kan? Waktu debut di United U21 juga doi bikin gol tapi sayang hingga hari ini gak kunjung dipercaya tampil di tim utama. :-&
