Todays Sir Alex Ferguson Press Conference Main Points

"Rafael won't be available for tomorrow. We sent him for a scan but there's no bruising or ligament damage to knee. He should be okay for Tuesday.

"Wes Brown and John O'Shea are fit. Bit by bit we're getting players back. Anderson played last night and is available for tomorrow.

"It's a question of what team I play as I have to think about Tuesday. There will be some changes.

"Fulham are a team who mirror their manager - they're very hard to beat. We need to perform.

United have responded to the back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Liverpool by winning five matches in a row in all competitions. Fulham have won two of their last three fixtures and, before a defeat at Everton, showed signs of improvement on their travels with hard-earned draws at Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Ins and outs
Damien Duff is the visitors' only doubt with an Achilles problem. Aaron Hughes has been passed fit despite a blow to the head and Bobby Zamora proved he's back to full fitness with last weekend's brace against Blackpool.
Rio Ferdinand's return means Chris Smalling may miss out on a reunion with his old club while Wayne Rooney and Jonny Evans are suspended. Paul Scholes is back from his domestic ban while John O'Shea and Wes Brown are training again. Anderson is also available after his reserve-team double on Thursday but Rafael is injured.

Last meeting
United's second match of the season was a tough trip to Craven Cottage but Scholes' rocket gave the Reds an early lead. After Simon Davies' equaliser, Brede Hangeland put through his own net and an away win seemed certain when Duff handled inside the box. However, David Stockdale saved Nani's penalty and Mark Hughes' team snatched a point when Hangeland netted at the right end with only a minute left.

Defensive rock Hangeland is a born competitor who is a towering presence at the back for the Cottagers. He scored at both ends in the draw in West London and will need to remain resolute under pressure at Old Trafford, showing why he's coveted by other clubs.

SCHOLES TARGETS MORE GOALS

Paul Scholes has admitted he should be scoring more regularly as he looks to repeat his superb strike at Fulham earlier in the season.

The powerful drive past David Stockdale was a typical moment of genius from the evergreen playmaker but it remains his only goal of the campaign so far.

"I've managed to score a couple against Fulham, including this season away from home," he told United Review. "My only goal of this season, in fact.

"I'd like to score more goals obviously. One goal in a season isn't enough really. But yes, I've had ups and downs against Fulham. I got sent off down there when we lost 2-0 but we've had some good wins down there too.

"At home, I think we've done quite well against them - I can't remember having too many problems with them at Old Trafford. I hope it can be the same again this time, although we know the quality they have in their team."

The 36-year-old is well aware that Fulham will be no push-overs on Saturday.

"Every game is difficult now," he explained. "Bolton at home proves it - that was a game we were expected to get three points from and we almost didn't. The games aren't turning out as people think they will."
