Re: Paul Labile Pogba

Paul Pogba is no Cristiano Ronaldo - so don't treat him like he is

* Paul Pogba's future at Manchester United is under increasing scrutiny
* Real Madrid have been linked with a summer move for the France midfielder
* Pogba has been better since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho

Depending on your information service, Paul Pogba is either agitating for a move to Real Madrid, or agitating to have his salary doubled at Manchester United. Either way, he is a problem that needs sorting.

And, without doubt, he has looked better under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Better, yes — but twice as good as the player Manchester United thought they had captured when he signed?

Hardly. It could be argued we haven't actually seen that player because Pogba was considered the type of midfield powerhouse who could propel United to the title under Jose Mourinho.

https://i.postimg.cc/TPwYbNM4/123116...5357231708.jpg
Paul Pogba's future at Manchester United is, once again, under growing scrutiny

As it stands, even with the Solskjaer-inspired resurgence, United are still in a fight to make it into the Champions League next season. And while it would be wrong to lay the blame solely at Pogba's feet, equally, it does not sound like the level of return that merits an escalation to £460,000 a week.

That is the figure being mentioned to secure Pogba's next contract, which probably means it is the figure he has been told he could earn with Real Madrid. Maybe he could get even more, if he publicly flirts with the idea of signing for longer at Old Trafford. He wouldn't be the first.

Yet is he worth it? Does anything we have seen from Pogba so far suggest he should be rewarded in this way? He is having a good second half of the season.

Yet any Footballer of the Year shortlist would have to burn through a page or more of names before alighting on his. And for close to £2m each month isn't that what Manchester United should be getting? The best. More influential than Virgil van Dijk, improving faster than Raheem Sterling, more valuable to his team than Eden Hazard. A player at the pinnacle of his game. Is that Pogba? Not yet, it isn't.

It's not Alexis Sanchez either, yet it is his salary that has set the benchmark for wages at Old Trafford, his arrival that sent the rest of the squad scuttling to their agents for renegotiations.

Yet Sanchez hasn't proved worth his wage, so why should United feel compelled to make the same mistake twice? They cannot continue to be the club that is panicked into costly manoeuvres. Maybe it is time Ed Woodward tried calling a few bluffs

If Real Madrid want Pogba, and Pogba's people think he is a £460,000 player, then ask for a fee apposite to his status. Because Pogba isn't Cristiano Ronaldo. When United lost Ronaldo they must have feared coming up against him in the Champions League again.

And those fears proved correct. Ronaldo has won the Champions League four times since he left, Manchester United zero. Nor have they defeated Real Madrid in their three meetings since Ronaldo changed sides.

And in the two games he started, he scored. Is that what we could expect from Pogba in opposition? Would he change the dynamic at his new club? Would he leave United among Europe's also-rans?

He would have to be a different player to the one we have seen; one capable of the odd moment of devastation such as the killer passes against Tottenham and West Ham, but also periods of anonymity.

Pogba was excellent as Manchester United went on a record-breaking run that got Solskjaer his permanent gig, but he also played every minute as United lost four games in five against Arsenal, Barcelona and Wolves, twice.

His prolific scoring run also came to an end until Saturday's penalties. He last scored from open play on February 18, against Chelsea in the FA Cup.

And he's an excellent player. Nothing here denies that. What must be judged is whether he is a player worth £460,000 a week to Manchester United, when there can be no guarantee he will not become detached or inconsistent, as certainly seemed to happen when Mourinho was in charge.

Since the talk of Madrid began — which Pogba has done little to discourage — it could even be argued his form has already suffered.

It's the biggest call of the summer: to keep Pogba happy or let him become Real Madrid's latest expensive problem.

'The performance of myself, the team, everyone is disrespectful': Paul Pogba fronts up after Manchester United's horror show at Everton and reveals staff told players what they thought of gutless Goodison Park display

* Manchester United crumbled to a 4-0 defeat by Everton at Goodison Park
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer went over to apologise to the United supporters
* Paul Pogba accepts that the players let the club down with their performance

Paul Pogba accepts that Manchester United's players let the club down with a 'disrespectful' performance in the 4-0 defeat by Everton at Goodison Park.

The thrashing was United's fifth straight loss away from home, prompting manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to go over to United's travelling fans and apologise.

Talisman Pogba believes the squad need to change their mentality if they are to salvage Champions League qualification from a season that is once again threatening to go off the rails.

'Not to be disrespectful and I am not disrespectful on Everton, but the way we played and the performance of myself, of the team, of everyone is disrespectful,' Pogba told Sky Sports News. 'We didn't respect ourselves, the club or the fans.

'Everything went wrong but the most important thing is the mentality that we put on the pitch - that has to change

'[In the dressing room after the game] we let the manager speak, the staff speak and they spoke the truth. They said what happened in the game and it is not respectful for ourselves.

'What we did on the pitch is not respectful for the team-mates, for the staff, for the people, for the kitman, for everyone.

'For their work, they put their life on us, the team and this club. What we showed on the pitch, we did not give them the joy back and that's why we are angry with ourselves. We want to do better for sure and we have to. The reaction has to be there.

'I want to say [to the fans], and I know it may not be enough, but the fans want a reaction from the players and the only way to apologise to them is to give everything on the pitch, do our best, create chances, score goals, defend, work for the team and we can even lose games, but with a good performance and pride on the pitch.

'I don't want to be harsh with my words but we don't want to look like we did yesterday because the body language was not good enough for this shirt.

'When you're here, you deserve it and you have to give your life on the pitch. You have to work, you have to sweat for this shirt and you have to give everything.

'We are Manchester United and we play to win trophies. Last year, we didn't win any and this year again and now we don't get into the top four, obviously is a very disappointing season. It is not good at all for this club.'

Re: Paul Labile Pogba

Paul Pogba 'tells Manchester United team-mates he wants to leave in the summer and Old Trafford side will not stand in way of move to Real Madrid'

* Paul Pogba has told his Manchester United team-mates that he wants to leave
* Reports claim United will not stand in his way of a move to Real Madrid either
* The midfielder has been heavily linked with a second exit from Old Trafford
* Juventus are keen on reuniting with Pogba in Turin but Real are also interested

Paul Pogba has told his Manchester United team-mates that he wants to leave this summer and the club will not stand in his way of a move to Real Madrid, according to reports in France.

The midfielder has been heavily linked with a second exit from Old Trafford and the club's potential failure to qualify for next season's Champions League could speed up his departure.

Juventus are said to be keen on reuniting with Pogba in Turin while the the 26-year-old has openly admitted his interest in moving to Real Madrid and working with Zinedine Zidane.

Zinedine Zidane remains desperate to sign his fellow countryman and, after recently returning to the Bernabeu for a second spell in charge, has been promised an enormous transfer budget to revamp the Real team.

Pogba has received enormous criticism for his erratic form for United this season and accepted that the players let the club down with a 'disrespectful' performance in the 4-0 defeat by Everton on Sunday.

L'Equipe claim in their newspaper on Wednesday that Pogba's exit this summer already 'appears to be programmed' as doubts continue to grow about his future at the club.

Pogba is said to want to compete for the Champions League on a regular basis and loves the idea of playing under Zidane at the Bernabeu.

It is claimed during the 2015/16 campaign that Zidane traveled to Italy to have lunch with Pogba and try to convince him to move to the Spanish capital but a deal fell through because of tension between Florentino Perez and his agent, Mino Raiola.

Pogba is also reported to have told some of his colleague that he wants to leave the club and it is claimed that United will not stand in his way if Real make a realistic bid for him.

Pogba harus diakui mulai kurang semangat tampil sejak berhasil memenangkan Piala Dunia. Mungkin dia merasa apa yang diimpikan setiap pesepakbola yakni trofi Piala Dunia sudah diraihnya jadi tinggal tampil reguler saja setiap pekan bagi klub hingga usia 34-35 tahun sebelum memutuskan pensiun. Sangat disayangkan jika benar Pogba bakal dilepas mengingat sebenarnya dia pemain yang bagus. Lebih ikhlas kalau Sanchez yang dilepas :D

Re: Paul Labile Pogba

Paul Pogba appears certain to leave Manchester United after agent Mino Raiola 'cancelled meeting' with chiefs to discuss new deal as he is accused of 'tearing dressing room apart'

* Paul Pogba's future at Manchester United looks uncertain after recent moves
* His agent, Mino Raiola, 'cancelled a meeting' with club bosses over a new deal
* Raiola is believed to have made this call due to Pogba's desire to leave the club

Paul Pogba looks to be heading ever closer to the exit door at Manchester United after agent Mino Raiola 'cancelled a meeting with the club over a new deal' for the midfielder.

The Frenchman, who was named in the PFA Team of the Year, is a hugely influential member of the club's dressing room but continues to flirt with a move to Real Madrid.

The decision by Raiola to cancel a meeting, according to the Sun, is due to Pogba's determination to secure a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

The £89million midfielder is a huge personality off the pitch but he is struggling to assert himself in big games having been kept quiet in Wednesday's 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City.

According to the report, United's players 'fear Solskjaer cannot handle Pogba's ego' as defeat to city rivals made it seven defeats in nine games.

Pogba has two years to run on his current contract and United may feel they are under no immediate pressure to cash in on him.

It has been a terrible run of results since United made the decision to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the job on a permanent basis.

As Sportsmail revealed on Thursday night, Solskjaer held showdown talks with Ed Woodward in a bid to get to the bottom of the ongoing problems.

The 2-0 defeat to City showed the major gulf in class between the two sides and the club are now facing up to their worst run of results in 57 years.

Players, as well as the club's hierarchy, were also said to have been left 'unimpressed' by Solskjaer's long ball tactics against their rivals.

As well as Pogba, David de Gea's future is also up in the air after his poor form continued against City.

Sportsmail revealed that De Gea was said to be close to tears after the game and only slightly better at Carrington on Thursday.

United maintain they are prepared to let contract talks with the Spaniard continue into next season, even though he could leave for nothing in a year's time, but the club may choose to reconsider that position this summer amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Solskjaer's side remain locked in a fierce battle for the top four but, given they sit sixth, remain outsiders compared to Arsenal and Chelsea. They take on the Blues at Old Trafford this weekend in a must-win game.

Re: Paul Labile Pogba

'He wouldn't bring much to the play': Real Madrid icon Jorge Valdano wonders if Spanish giants need Paul Pogba from Manchester United

* Former Real Madrid player and manager Jorge Valdano discussed Paul Pogba
* The Argentine questioned whether his former side should sign the Frenchman
* Pogba has been repeatedly linked with a switch to the Bernabeu this summer
* Valdano did concede that the Frenchman would bring goals to Real's midfield

Real Madrid icon Jorge Valdano has questioned what Paul Pogba would bring to his former club should he sign from Manchester United.

The former Los Blancos player and coach did though suggest that the Frenchman would be more effective than Los Blancos' current midfield crop in front of goal.

Speculation is a rife about Pogba's future at Old Trafford following another disappointing season for the Red Devils, one in which Pogba has blown hot and cold.

The World Cup winner is United's top goalscorer from midfield - boosted by a purple patch in form that coincided with the interim appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - but that has not fully convinced Valdano to offer an enthusiastic blessing to a potential switch to the Bernabeu.

'He would not bring much to the play [of Madrid], but he would bring goals,' Valdano told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

'He's more of a goalscorer than all of Real Madrid's central midfielders.'

Valdano, a former forward in his day, played for Real during the latter stages of his career, winning La Liga and the UEFA Cup twice as well as a Copa de la Liga during a three-year stay in the 1980s.

The Argentine highlighted Pogba's attacking prowess but that has dried up alongside the collapse of United's form.

Pogba has scored 16 goals in all competitions this season but he has not scored from open play in the league since United's away win over now-relegated Fulham in February - 10 matches ago.

United have also lost seven of their last nine games all competitions, with Pogba on the receiving end of many pundits' fury.

However, the 26-year-old says the criticism he has been receiving does not affect him.

'Criticism from British pundits? No worries. They are paid to say things in front of the camera,' Pogba told French outlet RMC Sport.

'I'm just on the pitch. They can say what they want, they are paid for it. I'm not paid to talk. I get paid to be on the field and fight for my team. That's all.'

Re: Paul Labile Pogba

Paul Pogba will have to take pay cut if he wants Real Madrid move as La Liga giants refuse to match his £290,000-a-week Manchester United wage

* Paul Pogba is said to be flirting with a summer move to Real Madrid
* Midfielder will reportedly have to be prepared to earn less money at Bernabeu
* The World Cup winner will have to take a pay cut from his £290,000 a week

Manchester United's Paul Pogba will have to be prepared to earn less money if he wants to join Real Madrid, according to reports.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who returned to Old Trafford for £89million in August 2016, is now said to be flirting with a summer move to the Bernabeu.

But the World Cup winner will have to take a pay cut as Real will refuse to equal his United wage of £290,000 per week, say ESPN.

Paul Pogba will have to be prepared to earn less money if he wants to join Real Madrid. Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has previously spoken of his admiration for midfielder. The 26-year-old World Cup winner is now said to be flirting with summer move to the Bernabeu

Ahead of France's Euro 2020 qualifying win over Moldova in March, Pogba was quizzed on interest from Spain.

'Like I've always said, Real Madrid is a dream for anyone. It's one of the biggest clubs in the world,' he said.

'There is also Zidane as a coach and it's a dream for anybody who likes football. For now, I'm at Manchester. We don't know what the future holds. I'm at Manchester and I'm happy.'

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has previously spoken of his admiration for his fellow countryman and the Spanish giants are said to be lining up a move for him.

United legend Paul Scholes believes Pogba would not be a huge loss to the Red Devils because he's failed to replicate the form he showed during his time at Juventus.

Scholes, speaking to Premier League Productions, said of Pogba: 'We all know Paul, we talk about potential, but he's 26 years of age, he's got to start producing it week in week out.

'You're going to be losing a player who you know can be world class.

'He could be a player who needs a Bryan Robson or a Roy Keane next to him just to give him a little rollicking every now and then. If he doesn’t get that he just carries on in his own little fantasy world, thinking he’s the best.'

Los Blancos' summer overhaul is well underway with Spanish reports claiming that Tottenham's Christian Eriksen has 'verbally agreed' to join the club this summer.
