Everton FC captain Phil Neville: I'll never join Manchester City

EVERTON FC captain Phil Neville has ruled out ever playing for, or going on to manage, Manchester City.

The former Manchester United defender, who had an 11-year spell at Old Trafford, says his conscience would not allow him to work across the city.

Neville, 32, made his personal feelings known ahead of the meeting between United and Everton FC tomorrow.

He said: “Joining City is not something that will ever happen. When you have got red blood you cannot see yourself with blue blood.

“You go there and they have blue ketchup... it’s just like ’What are they doing?’.

“I am not being disrespectful to City. I grew up a Red, hating City. When I go back I get absolutely slaughtered.

“It makes me laugh in a way because I understand what they are feeling. I think it is fantastic as it makes football special.”

Neville is pessimistic about making his comeback from a serious knee injury on his old stomping ground.

He said: “It was nine weeks ago on Sunday when the surgeon told me I would be out for 12 weeks.

“Then I looked at the calendar and saw it was ten weeks until United and felt it was fate calling. I thought that would be my comeback game.

“But as the time has got closer and closer... (I) have still got to overcome so many obstacles.

“I have managed to start running, kick a ball, twist and turn. But if you are not tackling four days before a Manchester United game it is going to be a miracle to play on Saturday. But you never say never.”

Neville added: “Emotionally, I am fine, and I want Everton to win without a shadow of a doubt. We need the points. When it comes to these games, the excitement to me is running out at Old Trafford again. It is the best stadium in the world."

Hati Phil Masih Merah Untuk Red Devils. :devil2:

Phil Neville Kejar Kesempatan Terakhir

Neville plans coaching career
Toffees skipper keen to go into management once he retires

Everton captain Phil Neville is planning to move into management once the time comes to hang up his boots.

At 33 years of age, the former England international accepts that his playing career is coming to a close.

He has already given plenty of thought as to what he will do once he slips into retirement, and coaching tops his wish list.

Neville believes he could be involved in football for another 35 years were he to follow that path and feels the transition from player to manager is an 'obvious' one.

"I'm getting to the age now where I have to start looking at the next chapter of my life," he told Everton's official website.

"As players, we love playing football and we love the game, and this is the next obvious step.

"You've been doing one job for so many years, and you've got another 35 years to do another, and for me that means going into coaching and management."

Advice

Despite having played around 600 club games and earned 59 England caps, Neville does expect to waltz straight into a top job.

He does, however, feel that when the time comes to make that next step he can only have benefited from working under the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes during a distinguished playing career.

"Just because you've had a great career doesn't mean you will be a great manager," he added.

"The advice I have been given is to start at the very bottom and learn everything you can, and see where that takes you.

"I've been fortunate to work with some unbelievable managers and gained some great football experience myself.

"The challenge is to get what you've learned to your team. Hopefully that is the challenge for the next 30 years."

Neville Santai Soal Rumor Beckham

Kapten Everton, Phil Neville, mengaku belum mendapatkan kabar mengenai kepindahan Beckham.
