RESERVES : BURY 1 MANCHESTER UNITED 4
Manchester Senior Cup semi-final | 10 May 2016 | Gigg Lane | Scorers: Pereira 15, 41, Poole 40, 52; Dudley 55
United can look forward to facing rivals City in the Manchester Senior Cup final after a comfortable semi-final win over Bury for Warren Joyce's Reserves.
While the first team were in action away to West Ham, Andreas Pereira and Regan Poole both scored twice at Gigg Lane before the Shakers netted a consolation effort, with all the goals coming inside the first hour.
Brazil Under-20 international Pereira struck first after just 15 minutes when he was fouled by Bury midfielder Ryan Crosdale and picked himself up to beat the goalkeeper Andrew Dawber with the free-kick.
Pereira was then the architect and again the executioner in a quick-fire double shortly before half-time, crossing for Poole to power home a header in the 41st minute and popping up to score his second goal in the 42nd after Dawber stopped his initial shot.
The half-time scoreline of 3-0 reflected the Reds' dominance and the advantage was increased even further seven minutes after the break when Paddy McNair, playing in midfield, fed Poole to complete his double after good work on the left by substitute Demi Mitchell.
Joyce may feel his team could have defended better when Anthony Dudley pulled a goal back in the 55th minute but the scoring ended there and the Reds were still great value for the victory.
United: Johnstone; Tuanzebe, Poole, Williams; Varela, Love, Willock, McNair, El Fitouri; Harrop (Mitchell 47); A. Pereira.
Subs not used: J. Pereira, Warren, Kehinde, Buffonge.
