Default [G]United Players to attend United For Colitis event

Moyes and his players put on a United front to support Fletcher at colitis charity event

David Moyes hasn't had many reasons to smile this season but the Manchester United boss looked in good spirits as he attended a charity dinner with his players on Thursday night.

Just two days on from their 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City, the ex-Everton manager was joined by stars including Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Rio Ferdinand at the United For Colitis event, while former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson also made an appearance.

Midfielder Darren Fletcher, who suffers with ulcerative colitis, was the driving force behind the exclusive night after teaming up with charity founder Jon McLeish.

The Scot is now back in United's first team squad after a prolonged period of recovery but his team-mates and their partners looked more than happy to help as they arrived for an evening of food, entertainment and a charity auction.

Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Nemanja Vidic and Tom Cleverley were also pictured arriving at Old Trafford to join Fletcher, who has been forced to miss around two years of action because of his condition.

Former England rugby captain Lewis Moody, who also suffers with colitis, was scheduled to attend the event to discuss his battle with illness.

Ex-Chelsea and England midfielder Ray Wilkins, who was recently sacked as a coach by Fulham, revealed to Sportsmail in February that he is suffering from the same condition as Fletcher.
