Loans: Tunnicliffe starts
Ryan Tunnicliffe was handed his first Championship start for Ipswich Town on Saturday, as his loan club drew 1-1 away to Birmingham City.
It was an afternoon of mixed fortunes for the young Manchester United midfielder, who had a hand in creating several good chances and almost added to Christophe Berra's opener for Ipswich when he forced Darren Randolph into a save with 15 minutes remaining. However, Chris Burke’s effort deflected off Tunnicliffe at the other end to earn Birmingham a hard-earned point. Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy said: “They got a huge slice of luck with the goal and hopefully we will get some luck like that at some stage in the season.”
Elsewhere,
Angelo Henriquez made his first appearance since completing a season-long loan to Real Zaragoza, as they suffered their first defeat of the season away to Barcelona B. The Chilean striker was a second-half substitute for the Liga Adelante side, but was unable to inspire a comeback as the hosts held on to a 1-0 lead.
Back in England,
Reece James did not feature in Carlisle United’s goalless draw with Brentford at the weekend, but he is nearing full fitness following a thigh injury. The Cumbrian club's manager Greg Abbott expects the young Reds defender to return to first-team action in the coming weeks.
