Default Re: The Future of Manchester United Academy Graduated under Louis van Gaal.

Ryan Giggs insists Manchester United will remain committed to bringing through young players no matter who is in charge

* Ryan Giggs says Manchester United will keep developing fresh talent
* Louis van Gaal has introduced a number of young players while in charge
* Giggs has said bringing in new players is part of the United philosophy
* Jose Mourinho likely to be next boss but poor record with youth a worry

Ryan Giggs has insisted Manchester United will forever remain committed to developing and bringing through young players, no matter who the manager is.

This season has seen a number of fresh faces on the bench or pitch from United's academy ranks, with much of the credit reserved for Louis van Gaal, who has blooded several new stars such as Marcus Rashford and Donald Love during his two seasons in charge.

With former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho expected to arrive in the summer, concern is rife among a number of Reds fans, given the Portuguese has a far from impressive record when dealing with home grown talent, instead preferring the game's more established names and the Welshman has offered a subtle warning on the matter.

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs now assistant manager says the club will continue to blood young talent

'I think it will always be part of the club’s philosophy. It’s part of the history, it’s what sets us apart from other teams.

'Yes we can bring world-class players in from around the world but we want one of our own to be performing on that Old Trafford pitch, whether it’s a centre-forward, a winger, a defender… we need players to come through the ranks. That’s a massive part of the United history.'

Having made his debut for the club 25 years ago this month, midfield legend Giggs - now assistant manager at Old Trafford is perhaps the best person to understand the fundamentals behind the conveyor belt of talent which the club rightly prides itself on.

With the reasoning behind introducing fresh talent ingrained since the days of Sir Matt Busby, Giggs concedes the United faithful are expectant when it comes to giving one of their own a chance.

Quote:
LOUIS VAN GAAL'S YOUNG GUNS

Jesse Lingard August 2014

Tyler Blackett August 2014

Saidy Janko August 2014

Reece James August 2014

Andreas Pereira August 2014

Paddy McNair August 2014

Tom Thorpe September 2014

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson November 2015

Donald Love February 2016

Joe Riley February 2016

Marcus Rashford February 2016

Reegan Poole February 2016

Tim Fosu-Mensah February 2016

James Weir February 2016
'I think it’s special because you know we’re a club that gives youth a chance and that again goes back to Sir Matt’s days. The fans demand it, they want to see players come through the system, one of their own, and they give you a little bit of leeway in that respect, he said.

'If you have a misplaced pass or you miss a chance they’re a lot more forgiving because you’re one of them. Just like them you’re a supporter. So it is very special when a young player comes through and establishes themselves in the first team.'
