Default Re: [EPL] Manchester United vs Arsenal

Congrats Victor !!!

VICTOR LINDELOF VOTED MAN OF THE MATCH

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has said he is pleased the Reds have already secured Champions League football for next season.

Sunday’s 2-1 win against Arsenal - in which Lindelof was voted Man of the Match by the fans – means that United are guaranteed a top-four finish for the second season in a row. The Scandinavian centre-back picked up 50 per cent of the vote to defeat fellow contenders Marouane Fellaini (35%) and Ashley Young (15%).

The victory also ensures Jose Mourinho’s men only need two points from the remaining three league games to finish in second place.

Speaking exclusively to MUTV after the game, Lindelof said: “We always want to play in the Champions League.

“Manchester United, as a club, should always play in the Champions League, so we are very happy for that and, right now, we are focusing on keeping second place and that’s what we work for every week now.

“We just have to try to do our job out there and we did that during some parts of the game and some parts we didn’t play that well, but we got the three points and we are very happy for that.”

A late Marouane Fellaini header earned United all three points in our penultimate game at Old Trafford this season, and Lindelof was full of praise for his team-mate.

“He’s a strong player and is very important for us, especially at the end of the game when we have a lot of the ball and we attack.

“He gives us some more options, he can go into the box and he’s very dangerous in there, so he’s a very important player for us.”

Lindelof also had some nice words for his former team-mate, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who scored Arsenal’s goal.

“He’s a very good player and a very nice guy. It was a pleasure for me to play with him when I came here. I’m very happy for him and I hope he’s happy there."

Lindelof joined United last summer from Benfica and has grown in stature during his first season in the Premier League.

“I’ve really enjoyed it, there are still a few games left and we’re going to just keep focusing on that. It’s been a good season for me, I just want to keep working hard and I’m looking forward to next season.”
