Dutch legend 'excited' about Chelsea move
Chelsea - Marco Van Basten linked with Blues mangers job.
The Italian manager has had a difficult season in the Barclays Premier League, with his side well off the pace in the title race with just six games to go.
And with his future uncertain at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are ready to bring a Dutch master to the club.
Van Basten hit fame in 1988 when at the European Championships, he struck a stunning volley to help Netherlands win the tournament against the Soviet Union.
He has since taken his county to the World Cup finals and the European Championships finals as manager, before taking over at Ajax in 2008.
Failure to reach the Champions League saw him sacked the following year, and he now seeks a way back into football management.
With Guus Hiddink expected to take up a director of football role at Chelsea after Ancelotti's departure, Van Basten could be first choice for the managers position.
Close friends have said that Van Basten is excited about the possibility of moving to Chelsea.
Also in the frame to take over from Ancelotti is Frank Rijkaard, another Dutchman, who won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2006, a trophy craved by owner Roman Abramovich.
