Default Re: [UEL] Anderlecht vs Manchester United

Manchester United supporters face arrest if they approach Anderlecht's ground without a match ticket

* Manchester United face Anderlecht in the Europa League on Thursday night
* Bags will not be permitted in the ground amid strict anti-terrorism measures
* Borussia Dortmund's team bus was rocked by three explosion on Tuesday
* Brussels is still on high alert following last year's terror attacks in the capital

Manchester United fans face being arrested if they try to get near Anderlecht's ground without a match ticket amid heightened security around Thursday's Europa League quarter-final.

Supporters have also been warned that bags will not be permitted inside the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium as part of strict anti-terrorism measures implemented around Brussels.

The Belgian capital has been on high alert since March 22 last year when co-ordinated attacks in the city killed 32 people and injured hundreds of others.

It means that all public events are subject to enforced security, including army presence, extra security sweeps and controls.

Thursday's first leg involving United and Anderlecht will come under even greater scrutiny following the bomb attack on the Borussia Dortmund team bus in Germany on Tuesday night that injured their defender Marc Bartra and forced the postponement of the Champions League quarter-final tie with Monaco.

Fans face being arrested if they approach the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium without a ticket

A statement on United's website warned the 1,250 fans expected to attend the game that they will face stringent security measures.

It read: 'Fans without tickets are being told not to travel as they will not get into the stadium. Belgian police advise that all supporters without tickets on the territories of Anderlecht will be administratively arrested, by decision of the Mayor.

'No bags at all will be permitted inside the stadium, including handbags. Unfortunately there are no storage facilities at the stadium, so we advise you not to travel with bags.

'This strict policy has emanated from concerns over terrorist incidents and will be very strictly enforced. Medical supplies will be allowed into the stadium after checks.'

At Anderlecht's pre-match press conference on Wednesday afternoon, an Anderlecht spokesman said that the club and security forces are 'prepared' for the game.

Asked how the incident in Dortmund might affect the players, forward Massimo Bruno: 'We have to live with that. We are footballers and we must go on playing. We have to think of something and stick together. Everything will be safe tomorrow.'
