Manchester United will continue to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite their painful Champions League exit in Leipzig and the availability of Mauricio Pochettino.
Solskjaer’s future at Old Trafford is in question again following Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat and he will come under greater scrutiny if United lose the Manchester derby at home this weekend.
Pochettino has not worked since leaving Tottenham 13 months ago, and it is understood he has been waiting to see if the United job comes up.

They are confident the team are heading in the right direction and believe it would make no sense to sack the manager now, despite seeing Solskjaer’s men drop into the Europa League.
United’s failure in Germany on Tuesday could come at a cost as the club continue to feel the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the club have no plans to sack the boss as they look to continue their long-term plan. The news will come as a blow to Mauricio Pochettino who has been vying for the United job
They have already banked £53million from the Champions League group stage and that could have risen to £100m if they had gone all the way to the final.
In comparison, winning the Europa League would take it closer to £70m.
However, in theory United have a better chance of progressing in a competition they won in 2017 before reaching the semi-finals last season.
