Default Re: [UCL] Man Utd vs Munchen

Morale boost for Bayern
MEN - April 04, 2010

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness says his side will go to Old Trafford brimming with confidence after returning to the top of the Bundesliga.

They leapfrogged leaders Schalke 04 after a 2-1 win in Gelsenkirchen with two goals in as many minutes from Franck Ribery and Thomas Muller.

Last Tuesday's 2-1 win over United arrested a mini-slump at the Allianz Arena, which saw the German champions win just two out of five games.

But the shock turnaround that saw them come from a goal down to beat the Reds coupled with Saturday's win means Bayern will travel to Manchester full of confidence that they can defend their advantage and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

"I am not going to get totally euphoric, but if we remain clever and humble, then this could be a beautiful year for FC Bayern," said Hoeness, whose side remains on course for three trophies.

"We have the wind between our sails for the game on Wednesday."

Holland winger Arjen Robben missed the victory over Schalke but is expected to be fit for Wednesday.
