DATE SET FOR REDS' NEXT FA YOUTH CUP TIE
Manchester United's Under-18s will face Brighton & Hove Albion in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup on Monday 21 January.
The tie will kick off at 19:00 GMT and entry at Leigh Sports Village will be free to all supporters.
Neil Ryan’s side reached this stage of the competition after knocking out holders Chelsea last month, as Mason Greenwood scored a hat-trick in a thrilling 4-3 win for the young Reds.
The club’s Head of Academy, Nicky Butt, recently spoke of the importance of the FA Youth Cup in an interview with United Review after that outstanding victory over Chelsea on 17 December.
“The FA Youth Cup is massive, going back to the Busby Babes and when we won it in 1992,” said Butt.
“Several other groups won it – like Paul Pogba’s team, who did it in 2011. It’s a big tournament but let’s not get carried away.”
Nicky went on: “We’ve only won one game, albeit a tough game, and, in the changing room afterwards, Neil said we’re not just here to beat Chelsea but to win it [the FA Youth Cup].
“There is a lot of work to do but it’s a massive competition for the club.”
Brighton will visit Leigh Sports Village after beating West Ham United 5-4 on penalties away from home in the third round, following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
The Youth Cup tie comes just two days after the clubs meet at senior level, in the Premier League at Old Trafford.
