Default Re: Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United set to seal huge £60m deal for Crystal Palace starlet Aaron Wan-Bissaka with showdown talks in next 48 hours

* Manchester United and Crystal Palace to finalise terms over £60million move
* Representatives from Old Trafford will meet Palace counterparts over deal
* Red Devils hope to complete transfer for full-back by the end of the weekend

Manchester United expect to clinch a £60million deal to sign Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka during formal talks in the next 48 hours.

Sportsmail understands representatives from Old Trafford are scheduled to meet counterparts from Selhurst Park, an indication a deal is very close.

There is now a growing inevitability that the right back's switch to United will go through in the coming days.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka - currently with England Under 21s - is close to a Manchester United move. The Crystal Palace full-back is set to move with a £60million deal taking him to Old Trafford

The latest talks are designed to iron out the finer details of Wan-Bissaka's pending switch to join up with Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer's side but - barring a last minute hitch - both clubs should leave the meeting with a deal in place.

It remains to be seen whether England Under 21 boss Aidy Bothroyd will allow Wan-Bissaka to complete the formalities of his switch north during international duty.

The defender is currently at the European Under 21 Championships in Italy but has endured a difficult start to the tournament, scoring a stoppage time own goal to consign England to a 2-1 defeat by France in their opening match.

Wan-Bissaka enjoyed an outstanding campaign at boyhood club Palace in 2018-19, making 39 appearances in all competitions.

He broke into the first-team setup under Roy Hodgson the previous season, making his debut in February 2018 in a 1-0 defeat by Tottenham.

The right-back position has been a problem area for United, who relied on Ashley Young for the majority of the previous campaign.

Wan-Bissaka's arrival at United would significantly reinforce the right back area. Wan-Bissaka has made 46 appearances for Palace since breaking into the first-team

Solskjaer is plotting a summer of upheaval at Old Trafford, with Wan-Bissaka likely to become the second signing on the summer for the red half of Manchester.

United have already brought in Wales winger Daniel James from Swansea in a deal costing in the region of £17m.

Romelu Lukaku could be heading through the exit door if Inter Milan meet United's £80m asking price for the striker.

And there is, of course, Paul Pogba's future, which is under intensifying scrutiny after the France midfielder said it is time for a new challenge after rejoining the club in 2016 from Juventus.

Meanwhile, Boothroyd has made the stark admission that United's pursuit of Wan-Bissaka has unsettled the right back at a key moment in his career in the wake of his own goal against France.

'I could dodge (this question) by saying you have to ask him that but I won't,' said Boothroyd. 'I think when you are nearly going to move and all the things that would go through an older person's head, who is more experienced in life, it would be difficult for them to cope with.

'For a young player who all he knows is Crystal Palace academy, Crystal Palace first team it would be daft not to say that in some way he must think about it. I would not be truthful if I told you anything other than that. He doesn't say too much you don't get to find out too much.

'Aaron keeps things to himself. He is a very private guy. When that speculation is flying around it is bound to turn your head. He's disappointed with the own goal. It's been going on for a long time. In Poland last time we had a similar situation last time with Jordan Pickford, a lot of speculation.'

Boothroyd added: 'Everton agreed the deal, they worked very closely with us and were very respectful in terms of not getting involved in our build-up. In the end it was done in a hotel down the road away from everything else, all the medicals and got done.

'If that was to happen we certainly wouldn't be blocking anybody, we'd be talking to people and seeing if we could help out - providing both clubs were happy with it. If that happens we'll oblige and if it doesn't suit us we'll find a time when it does.'
