Default Re: [EPL] Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal

PLAYER RATINGS: Scott McTominay was a bright spark on a dim night for Manchester United and Arsenal

* Manchester United and Arsenal shared the points in a poor quality contest
* Scott McTominay opened scoring with a superb strike before half-time
* VAR overturned poor offside call allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to level

Manchester United and Arsenal shared the points in a 1-1 draw which showed just how far both teams are from a genuine title challenge.

Scott McTominay broke the deadlock with a fine strike shortly before half-time before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised with a cool finish which was given following a VAR consultation.

Manchester United (4-2-3-1)

David de Gea - 7

Great double save in the first half from Saka and Guendouzi. Blameless for the goal.

Ashley Young - 6

Had his hands full with the pace and perseverance of Saka down the Arsenal left.

Harry Maguire - 6.5

Solid in defence but poor set-pieces nullified his threat at the other end.

Victor Lindelof - 6

Left stranded for Arsenal's equaliser and couldn't quite recover in time.

Paul Pogba - 6.5

Back from injury but overhit some early passes and took his time to get into the game.

Scott McTominay - 8

Fantastic strike for the goal and covered every area of the pitch for his team.

Andreas Pereira - 6

Had one effort saved in the first half but didn't offer enough of a threat.

Jesse Lingard - 6

Still working his way back after illness and a little off the pace at times.

Daniel James - 6.5

His searing pace was a real problem for Arsenal but final ball was lacking at times.

Marcus Rashford - 6

Fit to play after injury but still short of sharpness and wasted his only chance.

Subs

Mata, Rojo, Fred (for Lingard 74, 6), Romero, Greenwood (for Pereira 74, 6), Matic, Williams

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - 6

Went for pace and energy and will be disappointed it didn't bring a win.

Referee: Kevin Friend 6

Handled the Arsenal goal well to let VAR decide but got a couple of other calls wrong.
