Default Re: [EPL] Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool

Manchester United 0-0 Liverpool - PLAYER RATINGS: Centre back Victor Lindelof at the top of his game but Mohamed Salah fails to make impact

* Man United's Victor Lindelof looks a different player to one from earlier in season
* There could be no argument about the decision to substitute Mohamed Salah
* Jurgen Klopp's side go top but fail to capitalise on game in hand

Liverpool returned to the Premier League summit with a 0-0 draw against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Reds failed to fully capitalise on their game in hand over Manchester City but are one point clear at the top.

Here, Sportsmail's DOMINIC KING runs the rule over the performances of both sets of players.

Manchester United 4-3-1-2

David de Gea - 6

Virtual spectator after an early scare given that Liverpool mustered just one shot on target.

Ashley Young - 6

Looked set for a difficult afternoon but Liverpool couldn't expose him.

Chris Smalling - 7

Assertive and strong, his best moment was when he flew in to thwart a second half counter attack.

Victor Lindelof - 8.5

Top man in the game, looks a different player to the one who was ravaged by doubt and desperate form early in the season.

Manchester United centre back Victor Lindelof (R) was the star man on Sunday afternoon

Luke Shaw - 7.5

Another who excelled, especially when he cut out a cross from Salah that was arrowing to Sturridge.

Ander Herrera - 6

Had been busy scuttling around in midfield until injury intervened.

Scott McTominay - 7

Surprise late call due to Nemanja Matic's injury but speaks volumes that the Serbian wasn't missed.

Paul Pogba - 7

Controlled and disciplined, didn't see enough of him in dangerous areas but had a big influence.

Juan Mata - 7

Another who was injured early but that did not stop him making a fine tackle on Salah.

Romelu Lukaku - 7

Dangerous when he got the ball but didn't see enough of it in the dangerous areas.

Marcus Rashford - 6

Amazing that he finished the game as he was clearly struggling with sickness from an early stage.

MANAGER

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - 7

Considering the hand he was dealt, did everything he could to ensure United never lost.

REFEREE

Michael Oliver - 7

The home fans won't agree but his performance was generally faultless.
