Manchester United vs Crystal Palace: Prediction, team news, live and betting odds

Manchester United will continue their push for Champions League qualification when the Red Devils host a resurgent Crystal Palace side at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Louis van Gaal's men responded to their 3-0 loss at the hands of Tottenham recently by beating West Ham in the FA Cup and then Aston Villa at the weekend and, with United now sitting four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, the Red Devils will be hoping to secure all three points against Palace to help keep their dreams of playing in Europe's elite competition alive.

Alan Pardew's side, though, won't prove such easy opposition and they will arrive to Old Trafford in confident mood after managing to draw 1-1 away to Arsenal on Sunday.

Date, time and venue

United host Palace on Wednesday 20 April at Old Trafford from 8pm onwards.

Where to watch

The match will not be shown live on TV, but Standard Sport will have all the action as it happens in our live blog from 7pm.

Last five matches

Arsenal 1 Crystal Palace 1 (17/04/2016)
Crystal Palace 0 Everton 0 (13/04/2016)
Crystal Palace 1 Norwich 0 (09/04/2016)
West Ham 2 Crystal Palace 2 (02/04/2016)
Crystal Palace 0 Leicester 1 (02/04/2016)

Team news and probable line ups

Van Gaal will be without the services of Adnan Januzaj - who has been sidelined with injury since the 3-2 win over Arsenal in February - as well as Bastian Schweinsteiger and Luke Shaw for the game on Wednesday.

However, Ander Herrera looks set to return from an ankle problem in time to make the bench.

Meanwhile, Pardew has several of his players out with injury including Dwight Gayle, Brede Hangeland, Marouane Chamakh and James McArthur. However, Scott Dann could return despite suffering a foot injury in the draw with Arsenal.

Manchester United possible starting XI: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Rojo, Schneiderlin, Mata, Fellaini, Rooney, Depay, Rashford.

Crystal Palace possible starting XI: Hennessey, Ward, Dann, Delaney, Souare, Cabaye, Jedinak, Puncheon, Bolasie, Ledley, Wickham.

What they’re saying

Alan Pardew:"We had some great moments on the break [against Arsenal] where we showed what we are capable of doing.

"We're now on 39 points with a good goal difference, which means two of the clubs below will need to get 40 points and they would snap my hands off for that total at the moment.

"We still have a number of games to play ourselves though, starting with Manchester United on Wednesday and we are in touching distance of mid-table.

"That's where I think we belong, but we need the results in the final weeks of the season to make sure that happens."

Juan Mata: "Before Everton and the FA Cup we have to focus on the Premier League game against Crystal Palace this coming Wednesday.

"Our goal is to play in the Champions League the next season and all we think about right now is to win every single game.

We are in good spirits ahead of these two games after the win against Aston Villa.

"The last week was very positive for us and it should help the team to gather momentum for the last few games."
