Default Re: [EPL] Manchester United 1-1 Leicester City

Rojo's days at Manchester United could be up and other talking points after Leicester draw

Have a look at five talking points as Man Utd draw with Leicester at Old Trafford.

It was an anti-climax...for United

All the attention was on Leicester but United were more in need of a winner. It was disappointing, then, that in the final ten minutes it was Leicester who looked more likely to score - especially after starting so well.

United huffed and puffed and Louis van Gaal threw on Juan Mata and Memphis Depay but it had little impact. With a place in next season’s Champions League on the line, United barely created a meaningful chance.

Rojo’s days look numbered

He won’t want to see Leicester’s equaliser again. He was brushed aside by Wes Morgan before the centre-half headed past David De Gea. It was one of three occasions Morgan beat the Argentinian in the air from a set piece. It was only one aspect of a difficult afternoon for Rojo, whose future at Old Trafford must be up in the air.

Demotion was harsh on Fosu-Mensah

He was the only to lose his place from the team that started at Wembley, a harsh punishment for giving away the penalty against Everton. There was an argument that the best thing Van Gaal could do for the Dutchman was to throw him straight back in, but instead the United manager brought back Antonio Valencia.

Fosu-Mensah will hope he doesn’t have to wait as long as Guillermo Varela, who made a costly mistake against Liverpool in the Europa League, to get another chance.

Martial’s finishing is impressive

He gets a lot of praise for his pace and flair. But he’s already an assured finisher, even though he’s still only 20. He made his goal against Leicester look easy, sweeping in Valencia’s cross, but it’s a difficult skill.

The ball skidded through on a wet pitch put Martial still backed himself to take it on first time. It would have been easy to drag it wide or balloon it over the bar. Instead, it flew past Kasper Schmeichel and into the net.

Fellaini will be lucky to escape ban

Marouane Fellaini has got form for using his elbows. And he’ll be fortunate to escape a ban after the cameras caught him elbowing Robert Huth in the chin. The German played his part and may also get an FA sanction. But after what happened to Dele Alli for his punch against West Brom, Fellaini can expect a phone call.
