Van der Sar eyes Bolton return
Red Devils goalkeeper insists he will be fit to face Trotters

Edwin van der Sar has confidently declared that he will be ready to face Bolton at Old Trafford after the international break.

The Dutchman played his first 90 minutes of the season when he returned from a broken hand to play for Manchester United's reserves against Everton on Tuesday evening.

The 39-year-old had little to do against the young Toffees but was pleased to have come through the match unscathed.

Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson will be boosted by the news having reportedly become frustrated with understudy Ben Foster's recent costly mistakes.

"I will be ready for Bolton," Van der Sar told MUTV.

"I feel good and I haven't had any reaction. The match is still 10 days away so I have more training to do, then I will be ready for my first start of the season."

Van der Sar revealed that he could have carried on training but felt the game with Everton provided him with the perfect chance to test his troublesome hand.

"Of course I could train but there are a lot of lads away on international duty so there are not many players around," he added.

"I just felt this was the ideal opportunity to get some action in a real game."
