Default Re: [UCL] CSKA Moscow vs Manchester United

Fear for Manchester United fans as club tell supporters to watch out while in Russia for Champions League clash against CSKA Moscow

* Manchester United face CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday
* Jose Mourinho's side are expected to be accompanied by 2,000 supporters
* United have asked their fans not to wear the club's colours in Moscow
* Russian FA head Vladimir Markin warns wrongdoers of a 'long stay in Russia'
* United have also asked supporters to maintain 'impeccable behaviour'

Manchester United have told fans not to wear team colours, ‘attract attention’ or walk around alone in Moscow as the Russian FA sent an extraordinary warning to visiting supporters.

Jose Mourinho’s side face CSKA Moscow on Wednesday, with Russian police expected to be ‘less than tolerant’ during a week in which both United and Liverpool play in the city.

Around 2,000 fans are expected from the North West, with United providing buses to and from the VEB Arena in a bid to avoid potential conflict.

Manchester United are preparing for hostile atmospheres as they travel to Russia. 2,000 supporters are expected to travel with Jose Mourinho's team but United have asked fans not to wear the club's colours in Moscow and maintain 'impeccable' behaviour

That comes as the head of the Russian Football Union’s security committee, Vladimir Markin, claimed they will hit troublemakers hard.

‘I don’t want to scare anyone but I warn those who plan to come here not to support their side and see the country but to commit hooliganism: the law is the same for all, not just for Russians,’ Markin said.

‘Those who break it will face a suitable punishment, possibly in the form of a long stay in Russia, in conditions our guests won’t like.’

Russian Football Union chief Vladimir Markin has warned United supporters of the consequences of 'hooliganism' ahead of their Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow

Running battles between Russia and England supporters in Marseille marred Euro 2016, which saw three Russians jailed.

‘We ask that you ensure that your behaviour is impeccable at all times,’ United said. ‘The law enforcement authorities in Moscow are likely to be less tolerant than most other European police authorities.

‘For your safety and security you are advised not to wear Manchester United colours when in Moscow, or attract attention to your presence.

Relations between the English and Russian contingents were far from healthy after the two sets of supporters collided during the 1-1 draw in their Euro 2016 group match. Three Russian supporters were arrested in the aftermath of the clash

‘It is also advised that you remain in groups where possible, and do not walk around the city alone.’

Marouane Fellaini did not fly to Moscow after suffering an ankle injury in the win at Southampton. United are understood to be furious over a challenge from behind on Fellaini by Saints striker Shane Long, who was booked. Privately, United feel that it deserved a red card.

Sources close to the player say his right ankle is ‘not bad’ but it is unclear how long he will be out for.
