Default Re: Faustino Marcos Alberto Rojo

Marcos Rojo leaves Manchester United for Boca Juniors 15 MONTHS after his final game for the club... as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals Phil Jones is set to rejoin the squad for the second half of the season

* Marcos Rojo has completed his move to Boca Juniors from Manchester United
* The Argentine defender made a total of 122 appearances after signing in 2014
* Rojo won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League with Manchester United

Marcos Rojo has completed his move to Boca Juniors from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.

The Argentine defender made a total of 122 appearances for United after signing from Sporting Lisbon in 2014 for £16million. However, he struggled with injuries and spent last season on loan at Estudiantes.

Rojo won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League at United although he was injured in the run to the final of the latter in Stockholm in May 2017.

United confirmed the 30-year-old's departure for Argentine champions Boca in a statement on Tuesday. It read: 'Everyone at the club would like to wish him all the best for the future.'

United have now offloaded two centre-backs in Rojo and Chris Smalling, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed Phil Jones will rejoin the squad for the second half of the season as he steps up his return from knee surgery.

'Phil has been recovering from a knee injury. He will be included to the list and hopefully he'll get his fitness back sooner rather than later and be available to play,' said Solskjaer.

'It's disheartening. It's the worst thing for a football player when you have injuries that take your passion away and take your chance to play football away.

'Phil has been a top centre-back and was in the World Cup squad two years back. He was brilliant when I came in so I wish him back into the squad as quick as I can.

'He's a very solid citizen. He is one of those that you can trust and he is working really hard to get back and not just for us, for himself.

'I have been through bad injuries and it might take your belief away and your enjoyment away. He has been working so hard to get back. He's had a couple of setbacks, but hopefully we can get some news.'
