Default Re: [EPL] Manchester United 2-1 Arsenal

Manchester United 2-1 Arsenal - PLAYER RATINGS: Despite scoring, more is needed from Paul Pogba while Konstantinos Mavropanos impressed on his Gunners debut at Old Trafford

* Manchester United hosted Arsenal for their 51st Premier League meeting
* It was Arsene Wenger's last ever visit to Old Trafford as Arsenal manager
* Sportsmail provides player ratings for both sides after their game at Old Trafford

Manchester United continue their quest to finish second in the Premier League after beat Arsenal in stoppage time to claim all three points.

Paul Pogba gave United the lead with his 16th-minute strike before Henrik Mkhitaryan equalised on his return to Old Trafford before Marouane Fellaini won it in stoppage time for the hosts.

Sportsmail's MIKE KEEGAN watched Arsene Wenger's last visit to Old Trafford as Arsenal boss, and gives his player ratings here...

Super-sub Marouane Fellaini scores in stoppage time to win the game for Manchester United

MANCHESTER UNITED
(4-3-3)

David De Gea - 6

Not seriously tested before or after Mkhitaryan’s goal. A quiet afternoon for the Spaniard.

Antonio Valencia - 6

United’s captain was efficient in defence but, perhaps surprisingly, offered little going forwards.

Chris Smalling - 6

Has been in prolific form of late but let a real chance go begging when he totally missed the ball from around 12 yards out.

Victor Lindelof - 6.5

A confidence-boosting outing for the much-maligned centre-half, although he will face tougher challenges.

Why Chelsea let Matic go will remain a mystery as he continues to be a key presence at United

Ashley Young - 6.5

Hit a post from a tight angle and was his usual, assured self. That said, not getting any younger and United need to reinforce at full-back.

Ander Herrera - 6.5

Energetic, as always, and combined well with Matic. Was pushed forwards following the equaliser to no great effect.

Nemanja Matic - 6.5

And still we wonder why Chelsea let him go. A key presence in the heart of United’s midfield and grabbed plenty of possession.

Paul Pogba - 6.5

Wasted a glorious early chance but made no mistake with an instinctive volley to put United ahead. More is needed from the Frenchman.

Paul Pogba broke the deadlock in the first half after following up Alexis Sanchez's chance

Jesse Lingard - 5.5

Has had better games. Flitted in and out of this one. In his defence, was given little service.

Romelu Lukaku - 6.5

Such a presence. His cross in the build-up to United’s opener was inch perfect. Mourinho will hope his injury is not significant.

Alexis Sanchez - 6

Every touch booed from the away end. Could have had the goal he craved against his former club but was denied by a boot and a post. Faded in the second half.

Manager: Jose Mourinho - 6.5

Will have been frustrated for long periods but has now led United to back-to-back Champions League qualification for the first tim

Substitutes

Marcus Rashford (Lukaku 50) - 5.5

Failed to have the impact United craved.

Marouane Fellaini (Herrera 64) - 6.5

Plan B missed a great chance to win it but redeemed himself with a header he may well have known very little about.

Anthony Martial (Lingard 64) - 6.5

Immediately injected life and pace but wasted a good position with a dive before teeing up Fellaini to win it.

Not used: Marcos Rojo, Juan Mata, Scott McTominay, Joel Pereira
