'We have a great chance to change the dynamic': Juan Mata insists Liverpool clash is a chance for Manchester United to turn their season around

* Juan Mata thinks Manchester United can 'change the dynamic' against Liverpool
* United have started the season terribly, winning nine points from eight games
* They welcome their bitter rivals to Old Trafford on Sunday, needing a victory

Juan Mata believes Sunday's mammoth clash against Liverpool gives Manchester United a chance to 'change the dynamic' of the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have endured a torrid start to the new season, taking just nine points from their opening eight matches.

Things don't get easier on Sunday when they host Premier League leaders Liverpool at Old Trafford. The Reds have a 100 per cent record and already have a 15-point lead over United

However, Mata believes the fixture presents an opportunity for his side to turn their season around.

In his latest blog post, the Spaniard wrote: 'On Sunday [against Liverpool] we have a great chance to change the dynamic and we are all very motivated to take the win.

'We are United, we are playing at home and we will give everything to be able to take the victory that our fans deserve in such a special game.'

Mata has made 10 appearances so far this season but has failed to produce a goal or assist in 413 minutes of football.

United face an anxious wait to discover the extent of the injury suffered by David de Gea while playing for Spain on Tuesday night.

The goalkeeper was forced off after he appeared to pull a muscle in the Euro 2020 qualifier against Sweden.

De Gea appeared to suffer the injury while after clearing a backpass on the hour mark.

Speaking about Spain's draw that secured their place at Euro 2020, Mata also wished his colleague a speedy recovery.

He added: 'The bad news from that game was that David [De Gea] wasn’t able to finish the match due to an injury problem after making some great saves.

'I hope that it won’t be anything major and he can be back with us soon.'
