Form guide: Since losing a dead-rubber tie to CFR Cluj in early December, United have gone 16 matches without defeat in all competitions -*most recently beating Reading in the FA Cup fifth round. This weekend, the Reds return to Barclays Premier League action and know that victory over QPR would temporarily create a 15 point lead at the top. However, the Hoops will be no pushovers, having lost just once in their last six outings. Worrying, the West Londoners have also caused upsets against Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester City in recent weeks.

Ins and outs: Sir Alex Ferguson is definitely without Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes and Phil Jones -*who picked up a knee injury against the Royals -*but otherwise has a full squad to choose from and given that he made eight changes on Monday, a similar number is expected at Loftus Road. Meanwhile, Fabio is ineligible to face the Reds as part of his loan deal, while there are question marks over Julio Cesar, Loic Remy and Junior Hoilett. Andy Johnson is still sidelined.

Last meeting: United came from behind to seal a*3-1 home win in November thanks to goals from Jonny Evans, Darren Fletcher – starting his first league match in a year – and Chicharito, outweighing Jamie Mackie’s shock opener. I think more of the players should have his attitude.”

Quote/unquote: “With Harry’s experience and his ability to judge players, he will have a better chance that most in that situation. We're going down there to win, though. That's what our job is. There is an absolutely brilliant spirit in the place at the moment and a good determination about us. We have to treat these games as we would Real Madrid or anyone else. It has to be won. Sub-plots: Ji-Sung Park could face United for the first time since moving to Loftus Road in the summer. The South Korean was a firm fans’ favourite at Old Trafford and should be well received by the Red Army, should he feature on Saturday.

Whistle-blower: Manchester-based official Anthony Taylor will referee Saturday’s match in West London. This season, he has distributed 64 yellow cards and six red in 26 matches.

Rivals watch: Arsenal host Aston Villa on Saturday before Manchester City take on Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Wayne Rooney is set to miss Manchester United's trip to basement boys QPR.

Rooney sat out Monday's FA Cup win over Reading with a sinus problem and although he has now returned to training, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson does not expect the striker to have fully recovered for the Loftus Road encounter.

Phil Jones (ankle) and Paul Scholes (knee) are also sidelined although Ferguson will still make changes, with Robin van Persie amongst those likely to be recalled.

Welbeck: Let's get it right at QPR

Danny Welbeck is focused on getting three points from the trip to QPR on Saturday as he hopes Manchester United's tactics will break down the stubborn Londoners.

Although it is a case of top versus bottom in the Barclays Premier League, Sir Alex Ferguson's side need no reminders that Harry Redknapp's battlers have taken points off Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City recently.

It promises to be an awkward afternoon for the in-form Reds in the capital but the aim remains to pile the pressure onto Manchester City ahead of their encounter with Chelsea on Sunday.

"It definitely won't be easy," Welbeck told ManUtd.com. "I think every game in the league now is going to be pretty tough. We’ve got to set out right and make sure we get the three points. That’s the main thing – to keep the pressure on City.

"QPR have done well recently. I think they’ve been setting up with two banks of four, making it difficult to break them down. They’re just getting behind the ball and obviously it’s been hard for teams to score goals against them. But hopefully we’ll have our tactics right on the day and will try to get some goals."

Although Fabio cannot play because of the terms of his loan, there could be a reunion with Old Trafford favourite Ji-sung Park.

"It will be good to see Ji again," admitted Welbeck. "We’ve seen him a couple of times as he came to a few of the London games and I’ve seen him at the team hotel once or twice. So it’s good that he’s not been a stranger to us. So, whenever I see him, it’s all good and the same with Fabio. He’s been back at Carrington a few times so it’s nice to see him too."
