The 29-year-old Chilean striker is growing disillusioned at Old Trafford after losing his place and manager Jose Mourinho publicly criticising him. His representatives have been discreetly sounding out potential suitors ahead of the next transfer window.

But, inevitably, his £500,000-per-week wages are proving prohibitive, while United would also demand a significant transfer fee for a player they signed from Arsenal for nothing last January as part of a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

However, there is hope within the Sanchez camp that PSG could revive their interest, even though they have a wealth of attacking talent already at their disposal.

Sanchez, who has scored just three Premier League goals since joining United, is upset with what he views as unfair treatment from Mourinho.

He has only started four league games this season and one in the Champions League — the goalless draw at home to Valencia. The South American has confided to those in his inner circle of his desire to leave United as quickly as possible.

Jose Mourinho used to be faithful to his centre-forwards as Didier Drogba, Diego Costa and Zlatan Ibrahimovic would testify.

The Manchester United manager has had a more roving eye recently but Alexis Sanchez’s performance against Juventus on Wednedsay might be the start of a great relationship as Jose’s No 9.

Mourinho went into the game against Europe’s toughest defence having played three different centre-forwards in his last three games – very uncharacteristic of him.

But with Romelu Lukaku, nine games without a goal, left in Manchester to rest tender muscles and Marcus Rashford back on the bench, Sanchez was given another chance to kickstart his United career as their main attacker.

It was a fascinating experiment and one that the Chilean will have won many fans even if United’s attacking forays were relatively scarce.

One of the criticisms aimed at £75milion Lukaku was his lack of hold-up play and aggression against defenders.

Sanchez, the Premier League’s highest-paid player but one who has largely struggled since joining from Arsenal at the start of 2018, showed good technical ability, keeping the ball and bringing others into play, something that benefited Ashley Young, Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and Anthony Martial in particular. His first touches found their intended target virtually every time.


Alexis Sanchez stepped up when called upon against Juventus on Wednesday evening. Jose Mourinho gave the Chilean attacker the nod to lead the line at the Allianz Stadium. He also showed a game intelligence by dropping into pockets of space between the lines that left Leonardo Bonucci with the awkward decision whether to follow into unwanted space, or to allow the South American to turn.

And while Sanchez is not of the physical stature of Drogba or Costa, he harries defenders and gets into their faces more than any of his rivals at Old Trafford; Rashford, Martial or Lukaku.

On one occasion, his charge towards Juve goalkeeper Wojcech Szczesny forced him to hammer the ball out for a throw. If Mourinho wants to press teams, Sanchez would be the ideal man to keep furthest up the pitch.

It was a compliment to Sanchez that Juve captain Giorgio Chiellini clattered into him with a challenge that left the United player wincing.

United were in the rare position of being underdogs and they will have been pleased with the way they held Juventus at bay until Cristiano Ronaldo scored one of his spectacular volleys midway through the second half.

What will have gladdened Mourinho is that Sanchez stayed disciplined and kept his position as the focal point of the attack even when United didn’t have the ball. He resisted the temptation to chase for it like a headless chicken.

For Sanchez’s part, he might have a legitimate grumble that not enough of United’s midfield players got forward enough to pose Juventus a consistent threat.

Sanchez, who turns 30-years-old next month, lacks the after-burner pace to scare defences like Juventus. He wouldn’t win a foot race with Lukaku, Martial or Rashford so needs team-mates around him.

He’s more than three years younger than Ronaldo but could never have matched his goal when the Portuguese superstar ran in behind Victor Lindelof before connecting with a stunning volley.

But in United’s current predicament of trying to build gradually rather than blow teams away, Sanchez looks the best option until Lukaku finds form, fitness and confidence.

Like at Bournemouth, the quicker Rashford came off the bench for the final 20 minutes to put Juventus under pressure, though this time it was Jesse Lingard rather than Sanchez who made way.

Interestingly, with both Rashford and Sanchez on the pitch, it was the older man who was kept central and Rashford asked to try his luck down the right flank, until Sanchez himself was withdrawn for Marouane Fellaini 12 minutes from the end.

It won’t have gone unnoticed that United’s next game is against a team equally as powerful as Juventus – Manchester City.

Mourinho will want his centre-forward to be mobile and bring team-mates into play. And last season Sanchez enjoyed arguably his best performance in a United shirt, setting up goals for Paul Pogba in a famous 3-2 derby win at The Etihad.

The pair seem to have a natural understanding. In one attack in Turin, they exchanged passes on the edge of the box that bamboozled even the experienced Juventus back-line.

Mourinho will surely be faithful to Sanchez this weekend.

MU mendatangkan Alexis Sanchez dari Arsenal pada bursa transfer Januari lalu. Setan Merah sukses menyalip tetangganya, Manchester City, yang sedianya juga ngebet mendatangkan pemain Chile tersebut.

Namun performa Alexis Sanchez di MU tidak sesuai ekspektasi. Dari 29 penampilannya untuk MU, baru empat gol disarangkan pemain berusia 29 tahun itu. Musim ini, Alexis Sanchez baru bermain 11 kali untuk MU, dengan satu gol disarangkannya.

Muncul kabar Alexis Sanchez berniat hengkang pada bursa transfer Januari mendatang. Manajer Jose Mourinho pun menanggapinya.

"Saya tidak berpikir demikian karena dia tidak pernah mengatakan kepada saya bahwa dia ingin pergi atau tidak senang tinggal di sini. Itulah saya. Itu adalah hal pribadi yang berkaitan dengan filosofi saya," kata Mourinho seperti dilansir FourFourTwo.

Mourinho malah yakin Alexis Sanchez bakal bangkit. Ia menilai eks Barcelona itu telah menunjukkan perkembangannya selama latihan.

"Dia meningkat seperti layaknya penampilan tim yang mulai membaik. Ketika dia bermain, dia memperlihatkan kepribadiannya, keinginannya untuk bermain dan memberi hasil untuk tim serta mencoba beradaptasi dengan bagaimana kami bermain dan sebaliknya," lanjut manajer asal Portugal itu.

"Dapatkah dia melakukan lebih baik? Saya pikir kami semua bisa melakukannya. Saya bisa melakukan lebih baik dan dia bisa lebih baik dan semua pemain lain juga demikian," sambungnya.

Alexis Sanchez has returned home to Chile to recuperate from his hamstring injury, with the blessing of Manchester United and manager Jose Mourinho.

The Chilean now faces six weeks out after what has been a difficult first year at Old Trafford, and probably his worst in a decade in European football.

With Sanchez also still affected by the break-up of a relationship with long-term partner Mayte Rodriguez, it was felt that a return home to Topocilla would be best to recover mentally as well as physically. He will thereby spend some of Christmas with his family.

Sanchez landed in Santiago on Tuesday, and will over the next week or so work with some of the Chilean national team staff. United have a good relationship with the federation, who agreed to rest Sanchez for recent friendlies, and the hope is that what amounts to a winter break will revitalise his career and time at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old is expected to miss the rest of the calendar year, with Mourinho admitting last week that he heard “a painful scream” when Sanchez suffered the injury in training at the end of November.

“There have been no scans yet. But the player is experienced, the player knows what the injury is and also from the top of my experience, just the painful scream and the way the injury happened, I know it’s going to be for a long time,” the United manager said ahead of last weekend’s draw with Southampton.

“It is not the little muscular injury that in one week or 10 days the player is ready.

“For me and also for Alexis, the feelings before the scans is that the grade [of the hamstring injury] is different than for (Victor) Lindelof.

“The Lindelof one was not an easy one, so Alexis has what I used to call an aggressive muscular injury.”

Manchester - Alexis Sanchez membantah bahwa dirinya bertaruh atas pemecatan Jose Mourinho. Hal itu dia ungkapkan di akun Twitter Pribadi.

Manchester United memecat Mourinho pada Selasa (18/12/2018) waktu setempat. The Special One dipecat selang dua hari setelah kekalahan 1-3 dari Liverpool.

Pemecatan Mourinho ini sempat dikabarkan The Sun sudah dijadikan bahan untuk bertaruh oleh Sanchez. Mantan pemain Arsenal itu bertaruh 20 ribu pound sterling dengan Marcos Rojo.

Hal tersebut dibantah Sanchez. Pria asal Chile itu justru menghormati dan bersyukur dengan Mourinho karena sudah membawanya ke MU.

"Itu palsu!!! Mourinho sudah membawa saya ke klub terbaik di dunia dan saya hanya memiliki rasa syukur untuknya," ujar Sanchez di akun Twitter resminya.

"Kami adalah kesatuan. Kami adalah Manchester United. Respek. Saya belum dapat membantu tim. Semoga besok sukses keluarga ini sukses!" pungkasnya.

Sanchez sejauh ini belum bersinar bersama MU. Sanchez baru bisa mencetak empat gol dan tujuh assist dalam 30 penampilannya di semua kompetisi. Dia saat ini berada di kampung halamannya untuk menyembuhkan cedera hamstring.

Manchester - Paul Pogba berhasil hidup lagi di bawah Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Alexis Sanchez dipercaya bisa mengikuti jejak rekan setimnya tersebut.

Sanchez belum merasakan level permainan terbaik sejak gabung Manchester United Januari lalu. Musim ini saja pemain Chile tersebut baru mencetak satu gol di ajang Liga Inggris.

Secara total, pemain 30 tahun itu hanya tampil tujuh kali sebagai starter di semua kompetisi. Kehebatannya saat memperkuat Arsenal seakan menguap begitu saja dan MU seperti sia-sia membayar mahal Sanchez sekitar 400 ribu pound sterling per pekan.

Cedera dianggap jadi salah satu alasan mengapa Sanchez belum juga bersinar. Saat ini Sanchez tengah menepi karena cedera hamstring dan terakhir kali bermain saat MU diimbangi tanpa gol Crystal Palace akhir November lalu.

Meski begitu, Solskjaer memastikan bahwa Sanchez sudah bisa tampil ketika MU menghadapi Newcastle United tengah pekan ini.

"Dia melewati sesi latihan yang baik beberapa hari terakhir. Dia sebenarnya ingin tampil (melawan Bournemouth), tapi kami masih harus menahannya. Dia memang sempat absen sebulan, tapi dia akan terlibat (lawan Newcastle)," ungkap Solskjaer seperti dikutip Sky Sports.

"Dia selalu ingin bermain. Salah satu pemain yang punya karakter seperti itu. Dia mengaku siap melawan Bournemouth, tapi sayangnya itu sedikit terlalu cepat. Ia tak sabar tapi belum mendapati kondisi fisik terbaik," lanjut dia.

Solskjaer yakin Sanchez bisa bersinar di bawah arahannya. Seperti apa yang terjadi pada Pogba dan Marcus Rashford. Pogba yang mejen bersama Jose Mourinho malah on fire dengan torehan empat gol dan empat assist sejauh ini, sedangkan Rashford bikin dua gol dan satu assist.

"Saya pikir dia adalah pemain yang akan menguntungkan kami dari segi pertukaran posisi, rotasi, dan pergerakan. Semakin banyak peluang diciptakan, semakin sering juga bola masuk ke sepertiga akhir lapangan, dan dia akan sangat berguna untuk kami di daerah itu," katanya.

"Saya rasa dia sudah tidak sabar untuk bermain. Itu terlihat dari sesi latihan terakhir karena dia mencetak beberapa gol indah. Jadi ini benar-benar membuatnya bersemangat," demikian dia.

Manchester - Setahun sudah Alexis Sanchez berseragam Manchester United. Sejauh ini apa yang diberikan Sanchez tak sebanding dengan gaji selangitnya.

Masih segar dalam ingatan ketika setahun lalu, MU sampai harus bertarung dengan Manchester City yang sama-sama meminati Sanchez. Saat itu kontrak Sanchez bersama Arsenal tersisa enam bulan dan dia tak mau menandantanganinya.

Ketimbang kehilangan secara cuma-cuma, Arsenal memilih melepas Sanchez awal tahun lalu. Pertarungan City dan MU untuk merebut Sanchez akhirnya dimenangi klub merah dari Manchester. MU bersedia melepas Henrikh Mkhitaryan sebagai alat tukar dengan Sanchez.

MU memang tak mengeluarkan sepeser pun uang untuk memboyong Sanchez, tapi tagihan gaji mereka langsung membengkak karena kontrak super 'wah' yang diberikan untuk pemain asal Chile tersebut. Untuk kontrak berdurasi empat setengah tahun hingga 2022, Sanchez mendapat bayar 25 juta pound sterling per tahun atau sekitar Rp 457 miliar. Itu belum ditambah signing-on-fee sekitar 6,75 juta pound.

Dengan kontrak sebesar itu, Sanchez jadi pemain dengan gaji tertinggi di Premier League yakni 391 ribu pound per minggu atau Rp 7,1 miliar. Tapi tunggu dulu, Sanchez rupanya masih mendapat bonus-bonus lainnya seperti 75 ribu pound setiap jadi starter dan tambahan 2 juta pound jika total gol dan assist mencapai 40.

Jika klausul itu semua terpenuhi maka Sanchez akan mendapat 500 ribu pound per pekan atau sekitar Rp 9 M! Wajar jika MU begitu meriah menyambut Sanchez sampai-sampai membuatkan video spesial si pemain sedang bermain piano saat pengumuman transfer tersebut.

Tapi, setahun berselang, apa yang diharapkan tidak sesuai dengan kenyataan. Bersamaan dengan performa MU yang naik-turun, Sanchez pun gagal bersinar. Dalam tempo setahun berseragam MU, Sanchez cuma bikin empat gol atau rata-rata satu gol setiap tiga bulan.

Memang masih ada sembilan assist dari total 32 penampilan, tapi MU bukan mengharapkan itu dari pemain yang bikin 80 gol dari 166 pertandingan bersama Arsenal atau rata-rata satu gol per dua laga. Musim ini Sanchez makin jatuh terpuruk.

Tak cuma hanya bikin satu gol dan empat assist, Sanchez juga gagal memikat hati Jose Mourinho sebagai manajer yang lebih sering mencadangkannya. Sanchez bahkan hanya sepuluh kali tampil penuh selama 12 bulan ini dengan rasio satu gol per delapan pertandingan.

Gol pertama dan terakhir Sanchez musim ini dicetaknya saat MU menang 3-2 atas Newcastle United Oktober lalu. Setelah itu, Sanchez lebih banyak berkutat dengan cedera hamstring dan lainnya.

Kini harapan terakhir ada di pundak Ole Gunnar Solskjaer untuk bisa membangkitkan lagi performa Sanchez, terutama dengan memberinya posisi terbaik dalam tim. Tapi, melihat trio Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, dan Anthony Martial, tengah on fire, rasa-rasanya Sanchez akan sulit menembus tim inti.

Belum lagi MU masih punya Romelu Lukaku yang performanya 11-12 dengan Sanchez. Mau tak mau Sanchez harus lekas pulih dan memperbaiki penampilannya jika tidak ingin nasibnya berakhir sama seperti bintang latin lainnya, Radamel Falcao dan Angel Di Maria.

Arsenal must not be fooled by the poor form of Alexis Sanchez ahead of his first visit to the Emirates Stadium as a Manchester United player, according to Unai Emery.

Emery revealed ahead of Friday's FA Cup fourth-round clash that he tried to sign Sanchez for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 before the Chilean joined United last January.

Despite struggling to have an impact since moving to Manchester, Emery insists Arsenal must be on guard against Sanchez, who will suit Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's attacking style of play.

United have been transformed by Solskjaer, who has secured seven successive wins since replacing Jose Mourinho last month, and Emery fears he will work his magic with Sanchez too.

'I respect him,' Emery said of the 30-year-old forward, who is likely to receive a hostile welcome from Arsenal fans after his acrimonious exit 12 months ago.

'I don't know why his performances or quality is better or worse in these circumstances. Now, in the last matches, they are playing very, very well with very big performances.

'He's been starting on the bench after an injury but if he plays, we need to work to stop him because he is a very good player. Now, this team is different. I don't know why. They are playing with more confidence.

Asked why the transfer to PSG in the summer of 2017 never went through, Emery explained: 'The circumstances. We spoke about a lot of players, about a lot of important players, and one was the possibility of Alexis. But it was not possible.'

Solskjaer took over United in December following the sacking of Mourinho.

'I was not surprised,' Emery said of Mourinho's dismissal. 'This team is with big players, to think to win the Premier League. This is normal. They can be in the position with the possibility to win but it is the reality. They lost a lot of points in the season. But now, they are very dangerous and in a very good moment.'
