Hargreaves: Skuat MU Tak Dihuni Pemain Terbaik

Manchester - Manchester United belum bangkit dari hasil negatif. Eks pemain The Red Devils, Owen Hargreaves, menilai bahwa skuat MU kini tak dihuni pemain-pemain terbaik.

MU sudah tak pernah menang dalam tiga pertandingan yang dilakoni di semua ajang mereka. Rinciannya, mereka menuai sebanyak sekali hasil imbang dan dua kali menelan kekalahan.

Dua kekalahan itu didapat secara berurutan. Lawannya adalah Sunderland dan Midtjylland. Sementara hasil imbang dipetik saat berduel melawan Chelsea.

Satu kekalahan 1-2 melawan Midtjylland di ajang Liga Europa menjadikan musim MU kian suram. Sebabnya, ajang ini bakal dijadikan MU untuk meraih tiket ke Liga Champions.

Soal MU, Hargreaves mempunyai komentar. Dia berpendapat bahwa hasil tak maksimal itu dikarenakan 'Setan Merah' tak diperkuat oleh pemain-pemain terbaik.

"Pemain-pemain terbaik tak bermain untuk Manchester United lagi saat ini. Beberapa individu terbaik bermain di Manchester City, mereka di Chelsea, mereka di Arsenal," kata Hargreaves di Soccerway.

"Manchester United harus melihat ke diri sendiri dan berkata, 'kemana sih arah kita? bagaimana kami ingin bermain? Apa filosofi kami lagi?"

"Saya tak berpikir bahwa mereka merupakan sebuah tim yang bisa bersaing untuk memenangi Liga. Saya bahkan tak berpikir bahwa pendukung Manchester United percaya bahwa mereka bisa memenangi liga atau Liga Champions. Dan mereka harus mengambil langkah tepat saat ini bahwa posisi mereka saat ini karena sebuah alasan," imbuhnya.

MU saat ini ada di posisi kelima Liga Inggris dengan raihan 41 poin. Mereka tertinggal enam poin dari Manchester City yang ada di posisi empat. (cas/mfi)

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves says he cannot believe the treatment of Henrikh Mkhitaryan under Jose Mourinho this season.

The playmaker, signed from Borussia Dortmund for £26million in the summer, has only featured four times in the Premier League, not playing more than 45 minutes in any of his appearances.

After nursing a slight injury in September, the Armenia international is back fit and seemingly available, and Hargreaves says he can't understand why the 27-year-old is being overlooked by Mourinho.

'He needs to play, I can't believe that he's not getting a look-in. He would be a banker in my starting XI,' he told Squawka.

'He had a slow start at Dortmund too and he was the players' player of the year last season. He got 23 goals and 32 assists, which is staggering numbers.

'This wasn't in a terrible league against pub teams and I can't think of anybody who could put up those numbers besides Messi and Ronaldo. He's a top player and we haven't seen it yet at United.'

Discussing reasons for his absence, Hargreaves mentions a potential fragility in Mkhitaryan's personality.

'The thing is, he's such a wonderful player but I think he's also quite a sensitive guy,' he added. 'It would have been perfect if he started off flying with goals and assists, but the slow start has probably hit his confidence.'

Next up for United is a local derby against Manchester City in the EFL Cup, and it is yet to be seen whether Mkhitaryan will be trusted with a role in the game.

United have won just one of their last six in the league, and will be desperate to return to winning ways and give fans something to cheer about at Old Trafford.

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has slammed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side's performance in their 3-3 draw at Sheffield United.

The Red Devils were 2-0 down with around 20 minutes remaining but three goals in seven minutes saw them somehow turn it around.

United looked to have pulled off a remarkable comeback in a game they mostly struggled in but a goal from Oli McBurnie in the 90th minute saw the Blades salvage a point.

Hargreaves, who played for the Red Devils between 2007 and 2011, has criticised his former side's display at Bramall Lane.

'Good luck making sense of that. For 70 minutes they were dreadful, they really were dreadful – that was probably their worst performance of the season,' he told Premier League Productions.

'The first half was a disaster, nothing short of. Sheffield United should have been up by more goals, but he [Solskjaer] made changes.

'The one thing you can take from it is that the young kids stepped up, so almost kind of out with the old, in with the young guys. That's what you'll get from today. Because his team shape and the inclusion of Phil Jones did not work.'
