Preview: Manchester United v Swansea


The return of the Barclays Premier League is finally upon us and, this season, Manchester United will kick things off against Swansea City. Here's what we can expect from Saturday's match at Old Trafford...

Team news:*Luke Shaw will have to wait for his debut after picking up a hamstring injury while Jonny Evans, Rafael, Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick and Danny Welbeck all missed the friendly with Valencia. Robin van Persie is behind with his fitness after his World Cup exertions but Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini came off the bench in midweek and promoted their claims. Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge have recovered from injury and the visitors look in good shape.

Opposition view:*Swansea have become synonymous with fast, free-flowing football in the last few years, the likes of which we could witness again on Saturday. The Welsh side have strengthened this summer, with new additions Bafetimbi Gomis, Jefferson Montero and Gylfi Sigurdsson giving Garry Monk's men a more potent threat going forward.

Recent Meetings:*The opening day of the 2013-14 season saw the sides meet at the Liberty Stadium, as two goals apiece from Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck inspired the Reds to a 4-1 win in David Moyes' first game in charge. Swansea ran out 2-1 winners in January's FA Cup clash at Old Trafford, but that was their only ever victory at the Theatre of Dreams.

In the dugout:*Club legend Monk was named interim player-manager when Michael Laudrup left the Swans in February, and confirmed his status among the players and fans with a 3-0 win over rivals Cardiff City just four days later. Monk took full-time charge of the club in May and has added some steel to the squad ahead of the new season.

Star Man:*Wilfried Bony's goals were vital to Swansea's campaign last year, as the Ivorian netted 25 times in all competitions during his first season in English football. Last season's top scorer already has a couple of strikes against United to his name and keeping hold of him could be Swansea's best piece of business all summer.

Last Season:*With the unfamiliar weight of European football on their shoulders, Swansea couldn't replicate the top-half finish they achieved in 2012-13, eventually taking 12th place. There was less to shout about on the domestic front as the Swans' defence of their League Cup title was brought to a premature end by Birmingham City.

Tom Cleverley can't wait for kick-off

Tom Cleverley says Manchester United are "raring to go" against Swansea as the Reds kick off the new Barclays Premier League season on Saturday.

Louis van Gaal takes charge of his first competitive game as the*Swans visit Old Trafford for the day's early start and Cleverley, like the rest of his team-mates, is desperate to begin the campaign with a victory.

Winning on the opening day doesn't guarantee a successful season – the Reds won 4-1 at Swansea last term and went on to finish seventh – but Cleverley senses an opportunity to build momentum from the off.

"We can't wait to get going against Swansea and look to put right the wrongs from last year," he told ManUtd.com. "This club has always been renowned for bouncing back from sticky patches and that's one of the reasons it's so loved around the world.

"We started against Swansea last year but away; this time it's at home and I'm sure the fans will be the same as us: raring to go. It'll be the manager's first competitive game and I'm sure it'll be a special atmosphere."

Cleverley has worked under new boss van Gaal for a month now and the midfielder believes he's in tune with the Dutchman's training methods.

"It's very much pass and move, always asking for the ball, which is my game," he said. "And the manager is so clear that there can be no questions asked from our point of view. We know exactly what he wants and are confident that if we do what he wants on the pitch, we'll win."

yeah pertandingan awal musim tidak disiarkan tv lokal, saya berharapnya sih Match United setelah bulan November 2014, tidak ada yang disiarkan TV Lokal.

Shaw sudah dipastikan absen 4 pekan, Rafael juga belum pulih, Evans, Welbeck, Valencia juga diragukan tampil.
Pertandingan pertama Rooney setelah resmi jadi Captain United, semoga permainan Rooney gak angin-anginan, karena sekarang dia kapten.
Berapapun skor-nya yang penting 3 poin. Semoga harapan baru muncul setelah match ini.
