Manchester United players told 'not to go outside' when they face Astana as it will be MINUS 20 DEGREES in Kazakhstan

* Manchester United face Astana in their Europa League group on November 28
* The weather in the city is expected to be as low as -20 degrees around then
* They have warned their players and staff not to spend too long outside in the city

Manchester United's stars have been told not to go outside for more than 10 minutes at a time when they play Astana, according to reports.

That is because the weather will likely be as low as -20 degrees when they visit Kazakhstan on November 28 in their Europa League group stage game.

And, according to ESPN, that has led to club officials advising the players and staff to stay inside during their visit.

In order to combat the cold, the match in Astana will be played under a closed roof and there is also an artificial surface installed at the Astana Arena, which seats 30,000.

There is an expectation, though, that players and staff will not head outside for more than 10 minutes during down time.

United have already qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League after winning three of their four games, which puts them top of their group.

Manchester United's stars have been warned not to go outside for too long in Astana. The weather in the Kazakhstani city us expected to drop to -20 degrees when they visit. The cold weather in Astana can be brutal during the winter months, as it was in 2018

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to rest players for the 7,000-mile round trip as his team also take on Aston Villa, Spurs and Manchester City in the following seven days.

There will likely be around 150 United supporters in the city, with the club paying for them to travel.

Those trips funded by United replace deals that had been made with defunct travel company Thomas Cook.

United will also lay on a chartered flight for their supporters to ensure their arrival.

Manchester United include 19-year-old Max Taylor in their Europa League squad for trip to Astana… just NINE MONTHS after he started chemotherapy treatment for cancer

* Max Taylor has returned to the Manchester United squad after battling cancer
* He was diagnosed with the illness in February before undergoing chemotherapy
* Last month the defender made an emotional return to the club's U23 side
* Now he is set to travel with the first team for their Europa League tie with Astana

Max Taylor will travel with the Manchester United first team for the Europa League tie with Astana - just nine months after starting chemotherapy for cancer.

The youngster was diagnosed with the disease in February, and after responding well to treatment he returned to training in September, featuring for the club's Under-23 side the following month in a 4-1 win over Swansea.

And with United having already qualified for the Europa League knockouts, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is taking a flock of youngsters with him to Kazakhstan, and has decided to give Taylor his opportunity.

Most of United's first team have been left at home for the 3,000 mile trip to Astana, presenting a great opportunity for the club's young blood to show their quality, with the club's head of first team development Nicky Butt joining Solskjaer for the game.

Taylor, who changed his surname from Dunne, has already showed his talents after joining the club in 2014 following a successful trial - and figures at the club will likely be impressed with his attitude and determination after coming through such a dark period to carry on his progress as a footballer.

Taylor, who still makes regular visits to help other patients on the teenager wing at Manchester's Christie hospital, said: 'The position I was in this time last year, I was in my first few weeks where I had chemotherapy, I wouldn't have thought, a year on, I'd be travelling with the first team.

'It doesn't matter what the environment is like, just being out there is massive. It's been a dream since I can remember ever kicking a ball - being a Manchester United first-team player,' Taylor told United's website.

'Obviously, Ole has given quite a few of us the opportunity to travel with the team and, hopefully, a few of us will get a game.'

Max Taylor came on as a substitute for Man United's Under-23 side against Swansea last month. The youngster recovers in hospital earlier this year after receiving chemotherapy treatment

The Manchester-born star made 17 appearances for United's Under-18 side in 2016-17, forming part of the team that won the Under-18 Premier League North trophy.

He later stepped up to the Under-23 squad in 2018-19 before his diagnosis.

Manchester United have a long history of breeding youngsters into their first team, with Busby's Babes and Fergie's Flegdlings making an impact - now Solskjaer's Saplings have the chance to be part of a new era at Old Trafford.

This season the Norwegian boss has included Mason Greenwood in the first team after selling Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan, and the 18-year-old has featured 18 times, scoring four.

Young stars joining Taylor in Kazakhstan include 17-year-old centre half Teden Mengi, 18-year-old midfielder James Garner, winger Tahith Chong, attacking midfielder Angel Gomes and striker Greenwood.

Development chief Nicky Butt to travel to Astana with Manchester United's youthful squad for Europa League tie as first-team coaches Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna stay at home

* Manchester United travel to Astana for a Europa League group tie on Thursday
* United have already qualified for the knockout stage of the competition
* Nineteen-year-old midfielder Dylan Levitt could be part of the travelling squad

Nicky Butt will travel with Manchester United's first team to Astana as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer puts faith in an inexperienced squad for their Europa League tie.

Promising 19-year-old Welsh midfielder Dylan Levitt and 18-year- old winger Largie Ramazani are among the travelling party which is made up predominantly from United's Under-23 squad.

And Solskjaer will lean on the extensive knowledge of head of first-team development Butt to help guide him on which youngsters gets the nod to start on Thursday.

Nicky Butt is set to travel to Astana with Manchester United for their Europa League group tie. Kieran McKenna and Michael Carrick will not travel with the coaching staff though

Teenagers Arnau Puigmal, Tedan Mengi, Di'Shon Bernard, Ethan Laird, Ethan Galbraith, D'Mani Bughail-Mellor and Max Taylor will all be among those also making the 6,000-mile round trip to chilly Kazakhstan capital Nur-Sultan as Solskjaer looks to continue the United tradition of blooding academy players in European football.

Solskjaer has the comfort of having already qualified for the knockout stages of the competition and knows United can secure top spot in the group even if they lose to Astana as they are still to face Alkmaar in their final group game at Old Trafford.

United will still have plenty of European experience in their squad with fit-again left back Luke Shaw recalled as well as Jesse Lingard and Axel Tuanzebe who came on as substitutes during Sunday's 3-3 draw at Sheffield United.

Coaches Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna will stay behind in Manchester to work with the rest of the first-team squad in preparation for Sunday's fixture against Aston Villa and the return of Jose Mourinho and Tottenham on Wednesday.

Paul Pogba is continuing his recovery from his ankle injury and has an outside chance of returning next month.

United have been 'disrespectful' by bringing youngsters to Kazakhstan for their Europa League clash

* Astana boss plays down suggestions that Man United have been disrespectful
* Solskjaer headed east with a young squad featuring very little experience
* The Red Devils have already sealed their spot in the Europa League round of 32
* And with a hectic domestic schedule, Solskjaer looks set to field youngsters
* However, Roman Hryhorchuk insists anyone that plays will be a high-level player

Astana head coach Roman Hryhorchuk rejected the suggestion that Manchester United have been disrespectful in bringing such an inexperienced side to Kazakhstan.

With progress to the Europa League round of 32 already secure and a hectic domestic calendar to balance, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has headed east with a young squad featuring very little experience.

Astana are already out of contention in Group L having failed to muster a point in their four matches, yet Thursday's visit of United remains a big occasion.

Astana boss Roman Hryhorchuk played down Manchester United's young squad for Thursday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has put faith in youth for their Europa League group match at Astana

'I really like your mood, that you apparently expect young players to play worse or not on a level compared to our players,' boss Hryhorchuk said.

'I would like to reassure you they will definitely play very well, regardless of age.

'If they play within the squad of such a prominent team as Manchester United, then they are in a high level, they are high-level players.

'I can tell you they are very motivated to win, and they've got a chance to play in the Europa League. I do expect a very good game with them.'

Asked if it was disrespectful of United to bring so many young players, he said: 'I think disrespect isn't a proper word for that.

'We understand how far we are from Manchester United and, like any game, any squad competition, we understand that.

'If they are playing at Manchester United, they are high-level players. It's a serious game for us and our opponents are a very strong team.'

The hosts are without injured key man Marin Tomasov for the match at the impressive Astana Arena, where heating and a roof keeps away the sub-zero temperatures outside.

Astana midfielder Ivan Maevski said: 'We don't expect any challenges in terms of weather conditions.

'The stadium is covered and the conditions pretty comfortable for the game.

'We've played before in winter, especially in February when it is the coldest month, so we expect the game tomorrow to be very bright and cheerful.'

'We're disappointed with the result but definitely there are positives': Ole Gunnar Solskjaer takes positives from Manchester United's youngest ever European side losing to Astana

* Jesse Lingard's deflected effort fired Manchester United into an early lead
* Astana levelled through Dmitri Shomko after a glaring miss from Tahith Chong
* An unfortunate deflection off United defender Di'Shon Bernard settled the tie

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was upbeat despite Manchester United's youngest ever European side falling to defeat in faraway Kazakhstan.

The 6,000-mile round trip to face Astana is the furthest the club have ever travelled for a continental match, just as they have never had to contend with the kind of cold experienced around Nur-Sultan.

It was far warmer inside the Astana Arena due to the roof under which United's young side started the Europa League tie brightly, with stand-in captain Jesse Lingard opening the scoring with a fizzing low finish.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaks to his Manchester United players on the touchline

But already eliminated and previously pointless Astana grew into the Group L encounter, with Dmitri Shomko's strike and an own goal from United debutant Di'Shon Bernard sealing a surprise 2-1 win for the hosts.

'Definitely (there are positives),' manager Solskjaer said.

'Of course we're disappointed with the end result but I thought we started the game fantastically, the boys took control of the game, scored a fantastic goal.

'The response after they scored two was also good. Of course disappointed with that 10-minute spell, you could feel pressure was coming. We couldn't get on the ball as we did.

'But some fantastic performances by the three young lads who made their debuts, all were excellent.

'I think some of these (young players I brought to Kazakhstan) might benefit from going out on loan because they need men's football and today they got the taste of it, some of them.

'But some are also knocking on the door for us. You could see the way we dominated midfield. I thought Dylan (Levitt) and Jimmy [James Garner] playing together - it's nice to see midfielders dominating the game.

'Di'Shon was so composed. Ethan (Laird), especially first half, was marauding down the right-hand side, so some of these have done themselves a good favour.'

Debutants Levitt, Laird and Bernard were part of an outfield line-up with an average age of just 20 years and 221 days.

Even with 36-year-old goalkeeper Lee Grant making his first start, the overall average was 22 years and 26 days - the youngest side United have fielded in a major European competition.

D'Mani Bughail-Mellor, Largie Ramazani and Ethan Galbraith made their first appearances as second-half substitutes, while Solskjaer wants Bernard to remember the positives after his own goal.

'He was disappointed, of course,' he said. 'He'll remember that from his debut, but I want him to remember the other 92 minutes or every other touch he had because he defended well.

'He had some last-ditch clearances. I thought he did excellent and he's so composed on the ball as well.

Dylan Levitt receives possession in the middle of the park and plays a simple pass

'Sometimes strikers miss chances and sometimes defenders score an own goal. That's partly down to luck and bad luck. I thought he did really well. That's what I wanted him to remember this game for.'

Solskjaer does not want Tahith Chong to beat himself up either, having wasted a glorious chance to make it 2-0 moments before Astana levelled.

Asked if he had spoken to the winger, the Norwegian said: 'Yeah, of course but he said the same in the dressing room. He stands up and says it is a different game if he scores and he takes the responsibility.

'But no forward or striker should ever worry about missing chances. That's just part of growing up. I think I did once as well.'

While Solskjaer told Bernard and Chong to keep their chin up, he believes Lingard should be proud of his display after a difficult few months.

'I thought he was excellent today,' he added. 'Jesse led by example. Loads of energy, drive, very good goal. He's been very good in the whole trip with the young boys because he is 27.

'Jesse is an old, experienced boy and very pleased with his performance as well on the pitch. It's good to get Jesse back.'

Meanwhile, Astana were delighted to get their first points on the board against such a huge side.

Defender Antonio Rukavina said: 'It is always tough to play against a big team like Manchester United.

'But we played one fighting game and won our first three points this year in the Europa League. It's nice to be part of such a big win.'
