Corry Evans

http://www.footballfancast.com/football-blogs/a-star-making-manchester-uniteds-corry-evans?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ffc_manchester_united_blogs+%28FFC_Manchester_United_Blogs%29 Football has always been a touted as a family and brothers likes the Laudrups, the De Boers, the Cannavaros, the Inzaghis and the Toures all help enhance this but Manchester United seem to have a special place when it comes to footballing families. Sir Bobby Charlton and Rio Ferdinand are both parts of footballing brothers whilst the Nevilles and the Da Silvas are footballing brothers that have made their name at United but now you can add the Evans brother to the list. After a loan at Sunderland ,Jonny Evans has burst onto the Manchester United first team scene and cemented his place in the squad and his younger brother Corry is looking to do the same thing. Having joined United as a 15 year old school boy when Jonny came over to join the club, Corry has worked his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reserve side and now is just waiting for his chance to jump into the first team. By the time he signed for the club as a trainee in 2006, Corry had already become a regular for the u18s team and in the 06/07 season he made 19 u18 appearances and scored once. In 07/08 he made a further 25 academy appearances for United grabbing 3 goals but also added to his reserve appearances after making his debut in a 2005 with a substitute appearance against Oldham Athletic. Evans impressed in his 5 reserve appearances and was became a main stay in the 2008/2009 season making 23 appearances and even grabbing a goal. Ole Gunnar Solkskjaer was so impressed with the young Evans appearances that he was handed the captain’s armband for a period and was nominated for reserve player of the year, losing out to Matt James. It was thought Corry would make his debut against Hull in the final game of last season but he didn’t make it off the bench but having been handed the #31 this season he is expected to make a few appearances for the first team. Evans is a strong and consistent performer who can play in both central midfield or the center of defence. He is strong in the tackle, reads the game well and has good technique whilst on the ball serving him well when playing in either position. Corry has also played for Northern Ireland at a number of levels and like his brother made his full international debut before having played made a first team appearance for United. Corry has the potential to make the jump to the first team just like his brother, but perhaps he could do with a loan spell to prepare him like Jonny did with Sunderland. Rangers have looked at him and indicated a willingness to take him on loan and if he does go and develops into the player he is expected to then we could have the exciting prospect of the Da Silva twins on each flank with the Evans brothers at the heart of the defence, an occurrence I’m sure that has never happened before in football.

Re: Corry Evans

dan ditarik Ole ke reserves sering maen sbg centre back..... profil dari official neh Corry Evans is a strong and consistent performer, equally adept at playing in the heart of midfield or defence, or on either flank. But while versatility has been a major asset for the younger brother of emerging first-team talent Jonny, Corry settled and excelled at centre-back for United's Reserves in the 2008/09 campaign, making 22 appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side. The Belfast-born youngster, who moved to England with his family when Jonny came over to join United's Academy, has followed in the footsteps of his sibling in progressing through the Reds' youth ranks. In the Under-18s, Corry was a mainstay in central midfield, but his strength in the tackle, reading of the game and ability on the ball also appear perfectly suited to playing at the back, which is why he was shortlisted by his coaches for the Reserves Player of the Year accolade in 2008/09. Corry signed professional forms on 18 August 2009 and was handed the no.31 shirt.

Re: Corry Evans
Corry Evans fights to join brother Jonny
-menmedia.co.uk- Corry Evans is desperate to play alongside his elder brother Jonny for Manchester United. But the 20-year-old Belfast boy reckons he will have to go out on loan before he can achieve his dream. The younger Evans made his first-team debut on United’s North American tour when he came on for Paul Scholes an hour into the 1-0 victory over Philadelphia Union. Then he started the 3-2 defeat to Chivas in Mexico before making way for Darren Fletcher after 75 minutes. But Corry, already a Northern Ireland international, is realistic enough to know that first-team football is likely to come away from Old Trafford in the short term. He said: "My first goal was to come back for pre-season and get on the tour which I managed to do. "I’m just going to take it from here and see what happens. I’m likely to get more chances to play first-team football somewhere else than I would at United because of the size and the quality of the squad here. Experience "It would probably be in my best interests to go out on loan and get some more experience, then come back next season and see where I’m at then." The Evans brothers are one of three sets of siblings currently playing at Old Trafford. Brazilian twins Rafael and Fabio da Silva are already fixtures in Sir Alex Ferguson’s first team squad while veteran defender Wes Brown is hoping his 19-year-old brother Reece, an England Under-19 international, will make the step up in the next few years. Not so long ago Phil Neville was playing alongside older brother Gary before his move to Everton, and back in the 70s the Greenhoff brothers, Brian and Jimmy, both starred in United’s FA Cup successes. Corry insists there is no rivalry with elder brother Jonny – who is likely to start the season at the heart of United’s defence in the absence of injured Rio Ferdinand – just mutual respect. There’s two year between them and Corry said: "We’re different players – he’s tall, I’m smaller and we’ve got our own attributes. We just give each other encouragement and feedback on how we’ve played, both positive and, if needed, negative." Unlike his brother Corry is a midfield player but he has been playing at the back. "I think my strengths are probably my reading of the game and my positional sense," he said. "Over the past year or so I’ve been playing as a centre-back but I’m really a midfielder, so naturally I get compared to defensive midfielders. "I suppose that does suit the style in which I play. But I also love to get forward, get in the box and score goals." His experience with United on tour is something he wants to build on. He said: "It was really exciting and pleasing to get on the pitch, especially in such a good atmosphere. I was determined to put in a good performance to put me in the frame for future matches. "Playing for United’s first team is something I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid. I’ve supported the club all my life so the opportunity to get on and play, even if it was just a pre-season game, was a special and proud moment for myself and my family." |

Re: Corry Evans
Evans: I Love United… But I’d Leave
February 4, 2011 60 Comments ROM After Manchester United turned down a bid from Hull for Corry Evans during the transfer window, the Northern Irish defender has revealed that he would be interested in leaving in the summer if the opportunity of first team football came around. “It’s a club you grow to love,” he said. “I supported Man United as a child but if the day comes I won’t be afraid to move on. It’s my career and I’m not going to sit about in the reserves for the rest of my life. If first-team opportunities don’t come there I know I’ll have to look somewhere else.”
