United 1 Chelsea 2: Player ratings
-manchestereveningnews.co.uk-

Van der Sar: Not overly tested but little chance with goals 6

Neville: Hit and miss with his deliveries and caught out down his flank a couple of times 5

Ferdinand: United’s best defender. He was on top of most things that came in his area 7

Vidic: Started a touch sloppily. He did improve vastly but Drogba lost him for goal, even if it was offside 6

Evra: At least he took the game to Chelsea on occasions and asked a few questions 6

Valencia: Limited supply from the Ecuadorian was disappointing considering his capabilities 5

Fletcher: Not the big game impact we normally get from the Scot. Chelsea’s engine room too dominant 5

Scholes: Wild tackle as normal and then on tenterhooks. Spread ball well but nothing came of it 5

Park: Needed a Liverpool type performance form the Korean and it happened too brielfy 5

Giggs: Brief second half spark but that apart the veteran was anonymous 5

Berbatov: Two decent headers but it was a toil for the Bulgarian 6

Subs:

Nani (sub Scholes 71) Livened it up 6

Macheda (sub Park 71) Poached a consolation 6

Gibson (sub Fletcher 86) Never in a shooting position 5

Carrick, Rafael, De Laet, Kuszczak not used

Chelsea: Cech, Zhirkov, Terry, Alex, Ferreira, Malouda, Deco (Ballack 82), Mikel, Lampard, J Cole (Kalou 73), Anelka (Drogba 69)

Goals:

United: Macheda (81)

Chelsea: Cole (19) Drogba (78)

Bookings:

United: Scholes (34) Fletcher (85)

Chelsea: Deco (70) Cole (72)

Battle of the Bosses:

Fergie unable to improve United’s possession from Munich and Ancelotti had the in-form aces

Referee: Mike Dean – Hit and miss 5

Attendance: 75,217

Fergie raps referee after United defeat
-manchestereveningnews.co.uk-

Sir Alex Ferguson has conceded that the title could have slipped from Manchester United's grasp after letting rip at another referee.

Mike Dean was at the centre of controversy allowing Didier Drogba's winner even though Chelsea's top goalscorer was clearly in an offside position.

It left United two goals down with 13 minutes left although Federico Macheda gave the home side hope three minutes later with a goal that looked suspiciously like handball.

A 2-1 final scoreline meant United were overtaken by the Londoners at a critical stage of the season.

"In a game of this magnitude you need quality officials and we didn't get that today," complained the Reds boss . The referee should have got a flag from his assistant when Salomon Kalou's pass released an offside Drogba.

"The linesman had no-one in front of him so should have seen that Drogba was offside. When I saw it was Mike Dean in charge of the game I must admit I did worry," added Ferguson who accepte his arch rivals are now in the box seat to deprive them of a fourth successive title.

"Chelsea are the favourites now. They are two points clear of us with five games left and a better goal difference so they must be in the driving seat. We could win the next five matches and still not be champions," remarked Ferguson.

United missed the spark that would have been provided by the injured Wayne Rooney and fell behind to a Joe Cole goal after 20 minutes. "In the first half we looked leggy and took too long to get going. Chelsea started off the better team but we could have got something from the game."

Boss rues big decisions
-manutd.com-

Sir Alex Ferguson found fault with the match officials after United’s potentially decisive defeat at home to Chelsea – but conceded the Blues had been “by far the better team” in the first half.

A sluggish start by the champions at Old Trafford enabled the visitors to open the scoring through Joe Cole and dictate much of the play before the interval.

“It’s a disappointing result,” said Sir Alex. “I thought we looked leggy in the first half. We took too long to get going. Chelsea were by far the better team.

“But in the second half we did well and we were unfortunate not to get something from the game. We dominated that second period and there’s always that chance we can rescue it. But we just didn’t get there today.”

Unfortunate may be putting it mildly – some might say grossly unlucky, considering Didier Drogba was clearly offside when he made it 2-0 to the Blues.

“What I can’t understand is the linesman was directly in line with it,” said Sir Alex.

“There’s nobody in front of him and he gets it wrong. In a game of that magnitude you really need quality officials. We didn’t get them today and it was a poor, poor performance.”

The appointment of referee Mike Dean for this game had been criticised in midweek by another aggrieved manager, Burnley’s Brian Laws, but Sir Alex wouldn’t be drawn on that.

“I don’t know about that. I’m not going into that. When I saw it was Mike Dean, I did worry, I must admit. Plenty of people are criticising him but I’m not going to go down that road.”

Whatever the reasons for United’s defeat, there is no doubt the Barclays Premier League pendulum has now swung in favour of Carlo Ancelotti’s victors.

“Chelsea are favourites now, no question. There are five games left and they are two points ahead and four goals better off in goal difference. They’re in the driving seat, no question about that.

“I’m certain we’ll respond. But we could win our next five games and not win the league. If Chelsea win their five, they’re champions.”

that was OFFSIDE. you know what that means?

we were so much better than them in the second half, so much better. we would have deserved at least one point there.

but there’s still time left. only 2 points, we can do this.

Fergie Gugat Gol Drogba
Arya Perdhana - detiksport
-detiksport.com-

Manchester - Gol kedua Chelsea digugat manajer Manchester United Sir Alex Ferguson.
