MU Selangkah Lagi Rekrut Bek Buangan Madrid

VIVAbola - Manchester United (MU) selangkah lagi akan mendapatkan mantan bek Real Madrid, Ezequiel Garay. MU disebut telah menyepakati harga pemain yang kini membela Benfica tersebut.

Menurut Mirror, Setan Merah dan Benfica telah menyepakati harga Garay sebesar 17 juta poundsterling atau sekitar Rp265 miliar. Perekrutan pemain 26 tahun itu murni atas permintaan manajer baru David Moyes.

Pria asal Skotlandia itu menginginkan adanya peremajaan di lini belakang. Sebelumnya, MU juga sudah mendapatkan bek sayap asal Uruguay, Guillermo Varela (20).

Saat ini, MU memiliki beberapa bek tua seperti Rio Ferdinand (34) dan Nemanja Vidic (31). Adapun bek muda lain macam Chris Smalling dan Phil Jones sering cedera.

Praktis hanya Johny Evans yang cukup berfungsi musim lalu. Demi memperbaiki hal ini, Garay pun langsung diburu.

Garay telah membela Benfica sejak 2011. Sebelumnya, ia memperkuat Madrid selama tiga musim. Ia juga telah membela tim nasional Argentina dengan catatan 13 caps. (one)

PICTURE: Garay drops public hint he may join Manchester United

Ezequiel Garay has dropped a potentially not so subtle hint that he may join Manchester United this summer on his Twitter account.

The last account that the 26-year-old defender followed on his official Twitter was @MANUTD_Es, an account dedicated to Spanish translations of purely United news.

And out of his other 634 followers, the only other United related account he follows is @WayneRooney way back in the first 100 people he followed on Twitter.

Garay’s last tweet was eight days ago and he may have followed the account at any time but he sits 10th in my ‘People you may know’ following @MANUTD_Es section, so it cannot have been too long ago.

Last week, there was news of him house hunting in England and today, his potential replacement Lopez publicly today stating he was ready to step into Garay’s shoes were he to depart, it coincides rather well.

It would seem strange that a player involved in such a potentially high profile transfer would make a judgement of error such as this given the prominence of advisors in the modern game.

So, of course, this could all be a perfect publicity stunt by his agent Jorge Mendes. Alternatively, he may just want to be kept in the loop regarding United news but I doubt it very much.

A simple follow of a United based Twitter account is enough to keep the rumour mill turning, so it may be nothing more than a surface deep rumour instigated by the player’s management itself. Either way, the rumours of Garay coming to Old Trafford are certainly not fading away as this latest revelation has shown.

Manchester United sign Ezequiel Garay, again. Marca say deal is complete

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Manchester United have signed Ezequiel Garay from Benfica for his buy-out clause of €20m. They say the deal is complete and, as has been said before, half of the fee will be going to Real Madrid because they stipulated this as part of the deal when they sold the defender to Benfica.

Marca could be 'in the know' on this because of the Real Madrid connection, the club would know if they were about to get a windfall and if the story is true that could be where the leak has come from. Marca and Real Madrid have an odd relationship with the two sometimes being the best of friends and sometimes the best of enemies, with the latter often coming from negative leaks from the club or Real Madrid claiming that the newspaper have made up damaging stories.

Early today there were reports in Argentina that Manchester United had completed the deal but most of the ones we could find (Soy Deportes and others) referred back to reports in the British media and we assume this to be what The Express wrongly reported from confused Italian websites last week. It's not the first time Garay has signed for Manchester United 'according to reports'. He agreed a deal way back in March if Record in Portugal are correct and their reporting of the deal continued along the same lines until an article last week said that the two clubs couldn't agree a fee because Manchester United wouldn't pay his buy-out clause (see above link for that too).

Record have not updated anything on the situation so far this weekend but another Portuguese outlet O Jogo have said the deal is close but, like reports in Argentina, that again refers to claims in the press here.

The Garay situation has got so strained it's impossible to tell what is original reporting and what is simply following on the back of others. If this does all come from what The Express said then it's nothing, if it doesn't then there could be something happening very soon.

Marca are adamant and say Garay is 'already a red devil'.

Chelsea have targeted Zenit St Petersburg defender Ezequiel Garay as an alternative to Everton's John Stones.

The Argentine defender has been looking for a move away from Russia with Valencia and Roma among the clubs to have shown an interest.

Everton have told Chelsea that Stones is not for sale after three attempts to buy the England international, though it is understood offers close to £40million would be considered.


Chelsea have targeted Zenit St Petersburg defender Ezequiel Garay as an alternative to John Stones

Chelsea know Stones is keen to speak to them but need to make contingency plans in case the stand-off remains.

Garay is a strong defender with more than 30 caps for his country. He has also been offered to Manchester United in recent seasons. Chelsea had also considered Raphael Varane at Real Madrid but the chances of a deal at this stage are slim.

Everton are discussing a move for Partick Thistle defender Jack Hendry, 20, and hope to iron out work permit issues with Ramiro Funes Mori from River Plate.

Meanwhile, Chelsea winger Marko Marin has had his medical at Trabzonspor ahead of his proposed move. Juan Cuadrado will join Juventus on loan and West Ham are continuing discussions over Victor Moses with a proposed loan on the table with view to a £6m transfer.
