Default Well, That's One Way to Decide Who Takes the Kick

German Footballers Play Rock-Paper-Scissors To Decide A Free-Kick Taker

This is Marco Reus and Mike Hanke of Borussia Moenchengladbach, proving that at heart, footballers are mostly just big kids with lots of money and silly hair. Next up, calling “not it” when the gaffer asks someone to empty the trash.

Default Ribery Opens Non-Alcoholic Bar

Franck Ribéry is opening an alcohol-free shisha bar

Munich-based prankster/footballer Franck Ribéry didn't have the best of luck in the final game before the Bundesliga winter break — not only was he sent off for getting pushy and grabby with Köln's Henrique Sereno, but earlier in the day he was forced to pay his former agent €2.66m in unpaid commission.

In a move that may slowly replenish his cash supplies, the French winger is opening a bar in his home town of Boulogne-sur-Mer. The new premises, however, is unlikely to accommodate Wayne Rooney's next curfew-breaking night out: since Ribéry is a devout Muslim, it will not serve alcohol. Instead, it will be an Arabic-themed shisha bar (high five Stephen Ireland!).

The bar will be called O'Shahiz, taking its name from his two daughters Shahinez and Hizya. "I wanted a concept that's a little different from the ordinary," the 28-year old told French newspaper La Voix du Nord.

While this new project sounds like a fun idea, I'm not sure I'd eat drink or smoke anything served by Franck "The Joker" Ribéry. Buy something in there and there's a good chance you'll ingest either chili peppers, laxatives or dog poop.

Default Bayern's PR Stunt Goes Wrong

Bayern anger fans with PR stunt

Bayern Munich claimed "a spectacular name" would be signing for the club on Thursday, but provoked an angry response from their fans when it was found to be a marketing stunt.

The German club attempted to gain interest in their new marketing tool - an app - by creating a huge wave of speculation over who the new signing would be.

Fans were invited to log on and watch the deal unfurl on their official Facebook page, but were let down when general manager Christian Nerlinger revealed an envelope with the users' own Facebook profile pictures on it. In addition, the users also saw their own name appear on the back of a Bayern Munich No. 8 shirt.

"Dear fans, you probably already noticed, that we did not sign a new player," a statement on Bayern Munich's Facebook page read. "This app is for our fans to show the importance of you for our club."

"Every single FCB fan is the 'spectacular new signing,' our 12th man!", announced the club on their official site later.

However, within minutes, an angry backlash from Bayern fans appeared as over 3,000 users (and climbing) accused the club of wasting their time and getting their hopes up for nothing.

Bayern are still believed to be interested in bringing in a striker in January, with Dortmund's Polish international Robert Lewandowski top of their wishlist.

Default Bayern Keeping Tabs on Young City Striker

Bayern keeping tabs on Guidetti

Bayern Munich have confirmed they are keeping a close eye on Manchester City's young striker John Guidetti, who is currently on loan at Feyenoord.

Guidetti scored a hat-trick in the Dutch club's 3-1 win against Vitesse this weekend, taking his goal tally for the season to 17 in 15 appearances, as Bayern's scouts looked on at De Kuip. It was also his third consecutive hat-trick in home games.

With Ivica Olic expected to leave Bayern this summer, the Bundesliga side are on the lookout for replacements and Sweden Under-21 star Guidetti is now high on their wanted list.

"We are looking at him and a striker at Montpellier, (Olivier) Giroud, very closely," Bayern's youth coach and scout Bjorn Andersson told De Telegraaf.

Guidetti, 19, faces a tough task to establish himself at parent club City given the presence of Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli, Edin Dzeko and possibly Carlos Tevez, so may well consider a move to Germany.

Bayern's other target, Giroud, has scored 21 goals in 27 appearances this season for Montpellier who sit second in Ligue 1, just a point behind big-spending leaders Paris St Germain.

Default Heynckes Feeling Big Bayern Axe Pressure

Jupp Heynckes: I am responsible for Bayern Munich's current situation

The 66-year-old coach has underlined that he is not free from criticism, amidst reports suggesting he could be axed if the club are unable to defeat Basel in the Champions League

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has assumed responsibility for his team's poor form in recent games.

The Bavarian giants fell seven points off the pace in the race for the Bundesliga title after Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund's 2-1 success over Mainz at the Signal Iduna Park.

Bayern Munich's sporting director Christian Nerlinger seemingly threw in the towel after the loss to B04, stating that the club must shift their focus to ending their poor run of form on the road.

German sources suggest that head coach Heynckes could be sacked if the Bavarians are unable to overturn the one-goal deficit from their first-leg defeat in the Champions League round of 16 tie against Basel.

"The criticism is valid also for myself [not just the players]," Heynckes told reporters after the loss to Bayer Leverkusen. "I am the person responsible for the whole thing.

"Whoever coaches Bayern has to deal with such situations. I must remain calm and confident in myself. I think I have the necessary experience."

The Bavarians host Hoffenheim on Saturday in their upcoming Bundesliga fixture, and three days later they welcome Basel at the Allianz Arena in the Champions League.

Default Bayern Defender Faces Jail Time for Lighting His House on Fire

Bayern Defender Breno Could Go To Jail For Allegedly Setting Fire To His House

Bayern Munich defender Breno could spend the rest of his career in jail if he is convicted of arson for setting fire to his own home.
The Brazilian’s house went up in flames in September, and allegedly, the evidence fingers the 22 year old. If convicted, he could serve up to a decade in prison, which would take his best playing years away from him.

He reportedly had been advised by club officials to seek professional psychiatric help before the date of the alleged arson.

Tekel Horor Guerrero Berujung Sanksi 8 Laga
Doni Wahyudi - detikSport

Default Ballack Suspects Conspiracy

Ballack suspects conspiracy

Former Germany captain Michael Ballack claims there was a plot against him which led to him losing the national team armband.

Ballack's international career was ended after a challenge by Kevin-Prince Boateng in the FA Cup final in 2010 ruled the then-Chelsea midfielder out of that year's World Cup due to injury, and he never made a return.

He visited the Germany team in South Africa, but on the day he returned to Germany, current captain Philipp Lahm gave an interview in which he said he wanted to take the captain's armband on a full-time basis. Ballack now believes there was no coincidence regarding the timing of those remarks.

''He is an intelligent lad and you don't just give an interview like that in such a situation,'' said Ballack. ''He must have agreed it with the coach to lean so far out of the window. That is what my feeling tells me. I was the captain and I know how people behave within a group. Philipp then became captain and it was a strange situation for me.

''I have not spoken with Philipp about the situation. At some point, you have got to let bygones be bygones.''

Ballack's desire to forget about the national team also led him to turn down their belated offer of a testimonial match. That offer came after months of claiming that Ballack still had a future as national team captain before informing him that he would not even play another match for Germany.

''It has nothing to do with pride,'' explained Ballack on Sky television. ''If they had been open with me and told me their intentions, then I would have been the last person not to cooperate to find a solution.

''It would have been fair to discuss things with me, but that didn't happen. It is only logical that I turned down the testimonial because I had been kept waiting for 11 months, not knowing where I stood.

''So many things happened which were not correct and I think my reaction is understandable.''

Ballack is now facing a similar situation with his club Bayer Leverkusen. He has not been a regular all season, leading the club's general manager Wolfgang Holzhauser to claim earlier this year that it had been a mistake to sign Ballack on a free transfer in 2010.

However, Ballack says his problem has been with the coach, be it Robin Dutt this year or Jupp Heynckes last season.

''I wanted to play another two years at the highest level and my aim was to challenge for titles with Leverkusen and that Leverkusen signed a player like me was therefore the decisive step,'' he said. ''But I never had the feeling that the coaches saw it that way.

''I had other offers, but Leverkusen has a place in my heart and I came back to give the club something back, and I felt fit. I think there were internal communication problems regarding my role. I had the feeling that the coach was planning with other, younger players.''

Ballack is now pondering the next step in his future, although he does not plan on retiring yet.

An offer from Major League Soccer seems to be the most likely option, though: ''I have not made up my mind yet, but I think I will look for a sporting challenge elsewhere,'' said the 35-year-old. ''I think that will be abroad, but it could go in that direction (of the MLS).''
