Buenos Aires - Tahun 2012 masih tersisa sekian bulan lagi. Di sisa waktu itu Lionel Messi akan berusaha menyamai atau bahkan melewati sebuah rekor yang masih disandang oleh Pele.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, atau lebih dikenal dengan nama Pele, adalah legenda hidup di sepakbola Brasil. Sejauh ini, tulis Marca, Pele masih tercatat sebagai pemain dengan koleksi gol terbanyak dalam satu tahun kalender--bukan satu musim kompetisi.

Rekor tersebut ia torehkan pada tahun 1959 silam, di mana ia mengukir 66 gol untuk klubnya, Santos, dan 9 gol lain untuk timnas Brasil. Total pada tahun itu Pele bikin 75 gol.

Nah, torehan itulah yang kini akan berusaha diburu Messi. Sejauh ini pemain Argentina yang membela klub Barcelona tersebut telah mengukir total 65 gol; 56 untuk Barca dan 9 untuk Argentina.

Dengan jumlah tersebut, Messi juga tercatat sudah memiliki rekor pribadi yang baru setelah melewati capaian terbaiknya sebelum ini; 60 gol dalam satu tahun kalender.

Kini hanya waktu yang akan menjawab apakah saat tahun berganti nanti Messi bisa menambah setidaknya 10 gol lagi untuk menyamai torehan Pele, atau malah melewatinya.

Tahun Depan, Pele Bakal Sambangi Indonesia

Bola.net - Tahun depan, Pele direncanakan datang ke tanah air guna memperingati 60 tahun hubungan diplomatik Indonesia dengan Brasil. Rencana ini diungkapkan oleh Dubes Brasil untuk Indonesia, Paulo Alberto da Silveira Soares saat bertemu dengan Ketum PSSI, Djohar Arifin di Kantor Kedubes Brasil kemarin (Selasa, 06/11).

"Karena hubungan baik dengan Indonesia, kami akan mendatangkan Pele ke Jakarta," ucap Paulo kala itu di hadapan wartawan.

Senada dengan Paulo, Ketum PSSI, Djohar Arifin juga membenarkan rencana kedatangan Pele ke Indonesia. Dikatakan Djohar kedatangan Pele di pertengahan September tahun depan itu sebagai bentuk perayaan 60 tahun hubungan diplomatik Indonesia-Brasil.

Nama Pele sudah tersohor sebagai salah satu legenda hidup sepak bola Brasil. Penampilan apik di timnas berhasil membawa Selecao meraih trofi Piala Dunia pada tahun 1958, 1962 dan 1970. Total di sepanjang karirnya sebagai pemain (1956-71) Pele sudah mengoleksi 40 trofi. (bola/mac)

Pele Masuk Rumah Sakit dan Jalani Operasi

Bola.net - Pesepakbola legendaris asal Brasil, Pele menjalani operasi panggul yang berlangsung sukses di Sao Paulo.

Hal itu sebagaimana disampaikan juru bicara legenda yang dijuluki "The King" tersebut kepada laman Globo Esporte.

"Segala sesuatunya berlangsung dengan baik, ini operasi yang sangat sederhana. Dia mungkin akan pulang besok (Rabu)," ujar jubir Pele, Jose Fornos.

Sebelumnya Pele mengeluh tulang panggulnya terasa sakit, dan masuk Rumah Sakit Albert Einstein tanpa pemberitaan ke pers atas permintaan keluarga Pele.

"Pele masuk rumah sakit ini, tetapi kami tidak bisa memberi informasi yang lebih detail lagi, sebagaimana permintaan keluarganya," ujar pejabat kehumasan rumah sakit itu kepada AFP, tanpa mengungkapkan kapan legenda sepak bola tersebut tiba di rumah sakit.

Pele dianggap sebagai salah seorang pemain besar yang sudah ikut andil dalam kemenangan timnas Samba pada Piala Dunia tahun 1958, 1962 dan 1970 serta mencetak 1.281 gol sepanjang karirnya. (afp/lex)

Pele Tells Neymar to Join Barcelona: Why He's Both Right and Wrong (Poll)



Pele has a message for his countryman Neymar: If you've got to leave Brazil, make sure it's for Barcelona.

Pele does, of course, have a point, and Neymar would be wise to heed the wisdom and lean on the experience of Brazilian football's elder statesman. But at the same time, Neymar should keep in mind that Barcelona aren't an entirely perfect fit.

Here's what Pele said, per the Daily Mail:

The game is tougher in England, Italy and Germany because the referees usually let play go on. Barcelona would be ideal for him.

Santos need him and for that reason I don't think he should leave but if he must go it should be to Barcelona.

Neymar, 21, turned professional with Santos in 2009 at age 17. In four-plus seasons with the Brazilian club, he has scored 129 goals.

At the international level, Neymar has made 28 senior appearances with Brazil, scoring 17 goals. He scored three goals for Brazil at the 2012 Summer Olympics, an Under-23 competition.

All those precocious accomplishments have led to an intense level of speculation in the rumor mill. The Daily Mail article linked above reports that Manchester City are lining up a £55 million bid, and Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly interested as well.

Neymar is tied to Santos until after the 2014 World Cup (via ESPN FC), which will be held in his native Brazil. His lucrative contract puts him on comparable financial terms with European players, but the lure of top-tier football might be enough to draw Neymar across the Atlantic before then.

If so, Barcelona would indeed be a good option. Barcelona's style would be attractive to any upcoming attacker such as Neymar. And as Pele said, the Spanish league is not quite as physical as England's Premier League or Germany's Bundesliga.

But that doesn't explain why Barcelona would be a better option than Real Madrid.

Besides, it's not certain that Neymar would struggle in England, though admittedly, Neymar is rather slight in stature.

According to WhoScored.com, Neymar stands 174 centimeters (about 5'9") and weighs 54 kilograms (about 119 pounds). That's small, and he would probably need to add a few pounds to his frame. But Neymar's size is not all that different to Juan Mata's, a player who has had success at Chelsea as an attacking midfielder.

Playing in a tough league like the Premier League might not be all bad for Neymar. On the contrary, it could allow him to add a physical side to his game ahead of the World Cup. Doing so would make Neymar a more complete player, and it might also force him to bulk up a bit.

At Barca, on the other hand, Neymar would not be the team's biggest star—or even its second- or third-biggest. For a player who already has a significant media profile at age 21, that might not be a welcome change.

Of course, for a chance to play with a legend like Lionel Messi, Neymar might consent to playing second fiddle for a few seasons.

Barcelona would be a fine fit for Neymar, but despite what Pele says, it's not his only option. But until he makes a decision—whatever it is—we can only guess what Neymar thinks is best for his future.

Pele urges Neymar to choose Barcelona over Man City

Usually a staunch supporter of Neymar's decision to resist offers from European clubs, Pele claimed the 21-year-old's lack of top-level experience has made him a "regular player" for the Selecao.



Rio de Janeiro:Brazil legend Pele has urged compatriot Neymar to choose Spanish football giants Barcelona over a move to Manchester City or Real Madrid.

His comments followed reports that the Premier League outfit was preparing a bid to offer Neymar's club Santos 55 million pounds to sign the striker in the European summer, reports Xinhua.

Usually a staunch supporter of Neymar's decision to resist offers from European clubs, Pele claimed the 21-year-old's lack of top-level experience has made him a "regular player" for the Selecao.

"He is an excellent player but he doesn't have any experience outside Brazil," the three-time World Cup winner told Estado de S.Paulo Wednesday.

"In every game he plays outside Brazil, he doesn't do well. Everybody thinks Neymar can solve the Selecao's problems, but he isn't ready for that burden. We have a great deal of confidence in him but he has become a regular player for the national team."

When asked which European club would be the ideal destination for Neymar, Pele replied: "The game is tougher in England, Italy and Germany because the referees usually let play go on. The 72-year-old said Neymar's long list of off-field commitments and celebrity status in Brazil have affected his form.

Neymar's face can be seen on magazine covers, billboards and television commercials across the country. His ever-growing list of private sponsors - which include Nike, Panasonic, Volkswagen and Red Bull - are reported to be worth up to $30 million a year.

But despite an impressive 17 goals from 28 matches for Brazil since making his international debut in 2010, Neymar has struggled to repeat his sublime Santos form for the Selecao.

His lack of impact in Brazil's 1-2 loss to England at Wembley Stadium earlier this month has added further weight to concerns about his development at Santos.

"We think that he is the best in the world, but he is more concerned about appearing in the media than playing for the team," Pele said.

"Neymar has a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders. Right now his major concerns are fashion and his haircut."

Bola.net - Dalam karir panjangnya sebagai aktor Hollywood, Sylvester Stallone sempat bermain dalam sebuah film bertemakan sepakbola. Film tersebut berjudul (Escape to) Victory yang diproduksi pada tahun 1981.

Dalam film itu, Stallone berperan sebagai penjaga gawang mendapatkan kesempatan bertemu dengan pemain kenamaan seperti Bobby Moore dan Ossie Ardiles. Namun di antara semuanya, Pele lah yang paling meninggalkan kenangan bagi Stallone.

Pasalnya, pemain asal Brasil ini sempat mematahkan jari Stallone dengan tendangan penaltinya!

"Itu merupakan salah satu kejadian terburuk dalam karir saya. Tendangan yang sangat mengerikan! Jari saya sempat patah akibat mencoba menahan penalti Pele," kenang pria 67 tahun ini.

Pada awalnya, Stallone sempat menganggap remeh tendangan dari Pele. Namun pada akhirnya ia sadar bahwa kekuatan tendangan legenda dari Brasil ini tidak terlalu mengerikan.

"Saya berpikir, apa sulitnya bermain sepakbola? Sebelumnya ia memberi tahu saya ke mana ia akan menendang, jadi saya berdiri tepat di tempat yang ditunjuknya. Namun tetap saja bola masuk ke gawang sebelum saya sempat bergerak."

"Dia memang menendang ke arah yang disebutnya. Namun tendangannya sangat keras, bahkan merobek jala gawang dan memecahkan kaca jendela di lokasi syuting. Saya menemukan arti baru dari kata respek setelah peristiwa tersebut," tutup pria yang melejit berkat perannya di film Rambo ini. (bbc/mri)

Bola.net - Pemain legendaris Brasil yang sudah memenangkan tiga Piala Dunia di tahun 1958, 1962, dan 1970, Edison Arantes do Nascimento atau lebih dikenal sebagai Pele, baru-baru ini merasa sedikit menyesal dirinya tak pernah mendapat kesempatan untuk memenangkan Ballon d'Or.

Pasalnya kala Pele masih aktif bermain Ballon d'Or masih digagas dan dilaksanakan oleh France Football serta hanya diperuntukkan oleh para pemain Eropa, sebelum akhirnya dilebur dengan penghargaan pemain terbaik pria dari FIFA.

"Ketika saya bermain, saya tidak masuk dalam kriteria untuk menjadi kandidat peraih Ballon d'Or dan mereka hanya memberikan penghargaan pada pemain yang sudah memenangkan tiga Piala Dunia," tuturnya pada reporter.

"Saya rasa sebagai kompensasi, mereka harus memberikan pada saya setidaknya tiga piala lagi," pungkas Pele, di sela-sela persiapan gladi resik Ballon d'Or dekat hotel Baur au Lac. (gl/rer)
