Re: [EPL] Newcastle vs Man Utd
Thriller : Newcastle hope to have Shola Ameobi back in action following a knee injury, but Kevin Nolan completes a ban.=========================== TEAM NEWS Stephen Ireland may miss out as his partner is recovering from a car crash, but Cheik Tiote and James Perch are available after suspension. Manchester United will welcome back Wayne Rooney and Jonny Evans from suspension, but Paul Scholes starts a three-match ban. Darren Fletcher remains sidelined by a virus, but could return in a fortnight. Newcastle Suspended: Nolan (one match) Doubtful: Ameobi (knee), Ireland (personal reasons) Injured: Ben Arfa (broken leg), Best & Smith (ankle), Gosling (knee) Man Utd Suspended: Scholes (three matches) Injured: Fletcher (virus), Hargreaves (shoulder), Lindegaard & Rafael (both knee) MATCH PREVIEW The Treble dream may be over, but Sir Alex Ferguson insists his Manchester United side will not be deterred in their pursuit of a record 19th league title. Saturday's FA Cup defeat at the hands of Manchester City ended United's hopes of emulating the class of 1999, but Ferguson and co will have taken some solace from Arsenal's failure to beat Liverpool in the league on Sunday. That result means the Red Devils head to St James' Park looking to open up a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with just five games to go. A repeat of their 3-0 victory over the Magpies on the opening weekend of the season would certainly help to heal a wounded United. Newcastle return to action for the first time since their 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa, a result that leaves them just six points clear of the relegation zone. Alan Pardew believes his side need just one more win from their remaining six games to assure themselves of a second season in the Premier League - a first home victory over Manchester United since 2001 would be a satisfying way to achieve that goal. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head • Man Utd have won 13 of their last 16 encounters with Newcastle. • The Manchester club are unbeaten at St James' Park since September 2001, when they lost 4-3. • Newcastle marked their return to the Premier League with a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford back in August. Dimitar Berbatov, Darren Fletcher and Ryan Giggs were all on target for United. Newcastle • The Magpies have won only two of their last 12 games in league and cup. • They have won just two of their last seven Premier League games at St James' Park. • Jonas Gutierrez is in line for his 100th league appearance for Newcastle, while Steven Taylor could make his 150th career league appearance. Man Utd • Defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday ended a seven-match unbeaten run. • Sir Alex Ferguson's men have only won five of their last 16 Premier League away games. • Rio Ferdinand could make his 350th start for United. LEADING GOALSCORERS Newcastle Nolan: 12 goals (12 league); Ameobi: 8 goals (5 league) nb. Carroll scored 11 goals (11 league) for Newcastle Man Utd Berbatov: 22 goals (21 league); Hernandez: 18 goals (11 league) MATCH OFFICIALS Referee: Lee Probert Assistant referees: Andy Halliday & Trevor Massey Fourth official: Jon Moss LAST LEAGUE MATCH LINE-UPS Newcastle (L 0-1 v Aston Villa, a): Harper, Simpson, Steven Taylor (Ryan Taylor 63), Williamson, Enrique, Barton, Guthrie, Coloccini, Gutierrez, Ranger (Kuqi 83), Lovenkrands. Re: [EPL] Newcastle vs Man Utd
No Kevin Nolan for tonight ....
tetep focus, jangan lengah or ngremehin yaa ... _____________________________________ 18/04/2011 11:30, manUtd.com - Adam Marshall Newcastle v United United bid to extend the lead at the top of the table to nine points on Tuesday... Form guide Newcastle are a model of inconsistency: after a 4-0 defeat at Stoke, for example, Alan Pardew's side walloped Wolves 4-1 in their next outing. The Magpies have only won two of their last 12 fixtures but can go ninth with a point. United's defeat to City in the FA Cup ended a run of seven straight victories and Sir Alex Ferguson's side failed to score against domestic opponents for the first time since January 16 at Tottenham. Ins and outs Kevin Nolan is suspended for the Magpies but tough-tackling midfielder Cheik Tiote and James Perch are back from their bans. Shola Ameobi is expected to recover from a knee injury but there are doubts over goalkeeper Steve Harper, with Tim Krul standing by. Hatem Ben Arfa, Leon Best, Dan Gosling and former Red Alan Smith are all sidelined but Stephen Ireland should be involved. Wayne Rooney returns from his two-game suspension but Paul Scholes has collected a three-match ban for his red card at Wembley. The manager is still unable to sit in the dug-out but Jonny Evans' suspension has ended and Rafael should return. Last meeting United ran out 3-0 winners in the first game of the season at Old Trafford. Although Andy Carroll had a good chance for the visitors, goals from Dimitar Berbatov, Darren Fletcher and Ryan Giggs proved decisive. Top man Cheik Tiote has been one of the signings of the season for the Tynesiders. The industrious midfielder keeps things simple with his passing but his volley against Arsenal shows he has more in his locker. Expect the Ivorian to be a major figure in Tuesday night's encounter and a difficult opponent to overcome. Quote/unquote "It is a fixture I genuinely believe Sir Alex will be very wary of. Maybe not so much because he fears us as a team, but because he fears the ground and the reaction it can inspire the team to." - Alan Pardew. Any sub-plots? Michael Owen looks set to receive a hot reception if he manages to get some game-time after leaving the North-East club when his contract expired. The former England striker hasn't returned to St James' Park since departing in 2009. The Toon Army would probably rejoice in putting a spanner in the works for the Reds after losing out in the title battle back in 1996 under Kevin Keegan. Whistle-blower Lee Probert takes charge of affairs, officiating a United game for the third time this season. The Gloucestershire-based referee oversaw the 7-1 battering of Blackburn in November and 1-0 FA Cup win against Crawley. Did you know? Returning Wayne Rooney has nine goals from 11 United games against Newcastle, including a couple of belting volleys, while Alan Pardew was part of the Crystal Palace team that faced the Reds when Sir Alex picked up his first trophy as Old Trafford boss in 1990, playing in both the FA Cup final and the replay. Rivals watch Arsenal bid to recover from their morale-sapping 1-1 draw with Liverpool when making the short trip to meet North London neighbours Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Wednesday. On the same night, Chelsea entertain Birmingham.

Re: [EPL] Newcastle vs Man Utd
what papers say @ ManUtd.com
Rob Stewart of the Daily Telegraph writes… Sir Alex wary of Newcastle, says Pardew Newcastle manager Alan Pardew believes Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson will be more worried about those wearing black and white stripes off the field rather than on it at St James’ Park on Tuesday. Pardew has made the admission as he prepares to halt the Premier League leaders’ quest for the title. United will be aiming to get their campaign back on track following Saturday's FA Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester City at Wembley that extinguished their Treble hopes. "It is a fixture I genuinely believe Sir Alex will be very wary of," Pardew said. "Maybe not so much because he fears us as a team, but because he fears the ground and the reaction it can inspire the team to. For example, the Arsenal game. We were 4-0 down and our first goal goes in and suddenly you felt the crowd erupt and impact on the game. That is what he will fear perhaps more than the team, but I honestly believe he will genuinely fear this game.”

Re: [EPL] Newcastle vs Man Utd
Ireland set for Magpies debut
Pardew looking forward to seeing on-loan midfielder in action Alan Pardew is hoping Stephen Ireland can help to inch Newcastle United to safety as the midfielder finally prepares to make his debut. Ireland joined Newcastle on loan from Aston Villa in the January transfer window, but he has yet to make an appearance due to knee and thigh injuries. He is keen to secure a permanent deal at St James' Park and has been pencilled in to feature in Tuesday's game against Premier League leaders Manchester United. Pardew is looking forward to seeing the 24-year-old in action and believes it is a bonus that Newcastle can finally call on Ireland. "Stephen Ireland will be involved in this game and that's a big bonus because we have been waiting a long time for Stephen," said the Newcastle boss. "His quality will help us in the last six games for sure. Technical quality - that's what he brings. "You have got a player who has played at the highest level, and we have waited long for him because of his injuries and setbacks that he's had. "But hopefully, that will bear some fruit in the last six games." Veteran goalkeeper Steve Harper is likely to miss the visit of the Red Devils due to a knee injury, although he is expected to feature again before the season is over. Pardew said: "Steve had an injection in his knee and it hasn't settled down as well as we would have liked, and the game is probably too soon for him. "We don't think he is out for the remainder of the season. We just hope it settles down." SkySports
