Default [2015/16] United Player and Goal of the Year

VOTE FOR MANCHESTER UNITED'S 2015/16 AWARDS

The polls for Manchester United’s end-of-season awards are now open at www.manutd.com/poty , enabling fans around the world to decide who wins three of the big prizes – including the prestigious Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year trophy.

David De Gea is hoping to make history by becoming the first man to win the accolade for the third successive campaign, although the Spanish goalkeeper faces stiff competition from a number of team-mates with Chris Smalling and Anthony Martial among the front runners. It's important to note that fans can vote for any current United player who has made at least one senior appearance this season.

An online vote will also decide who wins the Denzil Haroun Under-21s Player of the Year with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Donald Love and James Weir all nominated by the coaching staff.

Supporters are also encouraged to select their Goal of the Season from a list of 10 contenders (below), with the top three strikes qualifying for a final poll on Twitter in the last few days before the awards night at Old Trafford on Monday 2 May.

Meanwhile, the Players’ Player of the Year award will be decided by a ballot among the first-team squad while the Jimmy Murphy Under-18s Player of the Year will be judged by Nicky Butt, the club's recently-appointed Head of Academy.

VOTE FOR UNITED'S GOAL OF THE SEASON

Manchester United's 2015/16 Player of the Year awards will be held at Old Trafford on Monday 2 May and you can now vote in three of the categories including Goal of the Season.

Anthony Martial v Liverpool, Old Trafford, 12/9/2015
Less than a fortnight after he was signed from Monaco, our new no.9 was unfazed by the occasion, coming off the bench and showcasing expert pace and skill to bamboozle Martin Skrtel before calmly finishing past Simon Mignolet. His dream debut goal sealed a 3-1 win for United and sparked wild celebrations around the Theatre of Dreams.

Juan Mata v Southampton, St. Mary’s Stadium, 20/9/2015
A lesson in patience from United who put together a fine passing move, orchestrated by the eventual goalscorer Mata. Switching the play in order to stretch a weary Southampton side, the Reds ultimately played in Memphis who turned his man before clattered a shot against the post. Thankfully, the rebound fell right at the feet of Juan Mata who made no mistake from just inside the area with the goal gaping.

Ander Herrera v Everton, Goodison Park, 17/10/2015
The Reds arrived on Merseyside in need of a morale-boosting win after an early October defeat away to Arsenal. Van Gaal’s men put on one of the displays of the season with an impressive 3-0 win that featured a fine header from Ander Herrera, who latched on to a sweeping cross from Marcos Rojo.

Wayne Rooney (2nd) v Newcastle, St. James’ Park, 12/1/2016
Our captain has an impressive record against the Magpies, with 14 Premier League goals at their expense so far. His most recent strike came in the 3-3 draw between the sides in January, when the Reds' no. 10 fired a thunderbolt into the top corner of Rob Elliot’s goal.

Anthony Martial v Stoke, Old Trafford, 2/2/2016
Martial again shone for the Reds as the Potters were put to the sword. The Frenchman finished off a sweeping United counter-attack involving Rooney and Mata, beating Jack Butland with an arced effort.

Wayne Rooney v Stoke, Old Trafford, 2/2/2016
Having received the ball on the left flank from Juan Mata, Martial didn't even need to look up as he picked out strike partner Wayne Rooney who tapped home from six yards to seal an excellent team goal.

Jesse Lingard v Chelsea, Stamford Bridge, 7/2/2016
If this season has been typified by anything, then surely it has to be the raft of Academy graduates who featured in the first-team squad. Although his debut came at the start of 2014/15, Jesse Lingard really made his mark in the current campaign, not least when he turned to volley United into the lead against Chelsea.

Juan Mata v Watford, Old Trafford, 2/3/2016
After beating Arsenal, United were out to solidify the apparent return to form with a midweek win over the Hornets. However, with only seven minutes remaining and the score still at 0-0, it appeared that Reds fans would be left disappointed. Thankfully, Mata had other ideas as the Spaniard stepped up to the plate, bending a Beckham-esque free-kick into the top corner at the Stretford End.

Marcus Rashford v City, Etihad Stadium, 19/3/2016
Manchester-born Rashford joins Jesse Lingard as another Academy graduate to be included in our shortlist, thanks to his winning goal in the derby. Many had forecast a comfortable win for the Blues, but United took advantage of a weakened City defence, with the 18-year-old showing blistering pace to leave Martin Demichelis behind before slotting home a cool finish that belied his young years.

Marcus Rashford v West Ham, Boleyn Ground, 13/4/2016
The teenage striker made another indelible mark on our season when he broke the deadlock in United’s Emirates FA Cup quarter-final replay tie against West Ham. Before Marcus struck, the visitors were enjoying the better of the play, but the match was still delicately poised. That was until our young forward’s intervention, as he again demonstrated his skill when one-on-one with a defender, but it was his curling finish that left fans awestruck as the Reds marched on to a Wembley semi-final.

UNITED'S UNDER-21 AWARD CONTENDERS

Reserves coach Warren Joyce has selected his three-man shortlist for Manchester United's 2015/16 Under-21 Player of the Year.

The Reds need two points from the final three league games to make sure of retaining the title and there have been a number of key performers over the course of another successful campaign. Watch our video and read our assessment of the three candidates before casting your vote at www.manutd.com/poty.

CAMERON BORTHWICK-JACKSON (9 games / 0 goals)
Composed defender who took to Under-21 football like a duck to water, making the switch from Academy football with rare ease. By setting up Jesse Lingard's goal against Everton in September, he illustrated his ability to provide assists when it was his defensive prowess that caught the eye the most at Under-18 level. His remarkable progress in 2015/16, also impressing for Louis van Gaal's side, is testament to his character and composed nature.

DONALD LOVE (15 games / 0 goals)
The Scotland Under-21 international made his first-team bow for United and also obtained experience on loan at Wigan Athletic. He has regularly been a part of the Under-21 side as well, supplying steel and energy in defence or midfield. It is the second successive year that he has been selected by Joyce to be on the three-man shortlist for the prize, with Andreas Pereira coming out on top in 2015.

JAMES WEIR (21 games / 6 goals)
Nobody has played as many games for Joyce's team this season than the ever-willing skipper, who has been one of the stand-out performers throughout. Key goals against Liverpool and Chelsea highlighted his value to the cause and his tally of six strikes is a good one from his familiar position on the left flank. A first-team debut against Arsenal was a worthy reward and he has strong claims for the award.
