Default [2014-2015] Persaingan team-team papan atas EPL ... ?!?!

Have you said ......

Premier League Title Race Could Be the Most Open in Years

Last season saw one of the Premier League's most exciting title races, not least because there was someone a little different in with a serious chance of winning the thing, in Liverpool's thrilling but ultimately doomed bid.

However, this season could be even better because it promises to be incredibly open. To paint with rather broad strokes, in essence, last year's top two have problems while the chasing pack of realistic candidates have improved.

Manchester City have improved their defensive solidity by purchasing holding midfielder Fernando and signing right-back Bacary Sagna on a free transfer, while centre-back Eliaquim Mangala is set to arrive, as per the Daily Mirror.

nd yet they might start the season with some problems in attack, with Sergio Aguero's series of niggling injury issues looking like an increasingly big problem and Alvaro Negredo's broken metatarsal looking like keeping him out for a long spell. That leaves them with the inconsistent Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic, who missed large parts of last season through injury, as their striking options, and while the loan signing of Frank Lampard could provide goals in the first half of the season, their lack of depth up front could inhibit them if they don't buy another attacker.

Indeed, City chief executive Ferran Soriano suggested to ESPN that Mangala would be their final addition of the summer: “We knew one year ago the positions we wanted to reinforce in the team and we did it. We have a new right back, a new holding midfielder and we will have a new central defender and that's it.”

Meanwhile, after the sale of Luis Suarez and the addition of so many new players, Liverpool are hugely unpredictable. The likes of Lazar Markovic, Adam Lallana and whomever else they buy could work out brilliantly, but equally they could fail to gel and not replace Suarez's contribution from last term. At this stage, it's almost impossible to tell.

However, if we are to assume that Tottenham and Everton are not realistic candidates for the title, but rather possibilities for the top four, there are three other challengers for the top prize, and all of them have significantly strengthened.

Chelsea have added Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Cesc Fabregas, filling the two biggest gaps in their side last season and replacing Frank Lampard. With Jose Mourinho now in charge of a team he has built to his own specifications, Chelsea will be stronger challengers than they were last season.

Arsenal have signed Alexis Sanchez and look like adding more. Arsene Wenger has hinted (as much as Wenger does offer hints on transfer matters), as per the Guardian, that he could make more moves to add to Sanchez, Calum Chambers, David Ospina and Mathieu Debuchy. If they fill gaps in midfield and possibly defence, then they could be serious challengers again.

And then of course there is Manchester United, who have signed Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw already, with more likely to follow. However, their key summer signing was not on the pitch but in the dugout, where Louis van Gaal has replaced David Moyes. United's squad last season was nowhere near as bad as their performances and eventual league position would suggest, and while there are questions about Van Gaal, he will undoubtedly make his new team a much tougher proposition than they were under Moyes.

So there are five realistic title contenders, all with significant strengths and flaws, but all moving toward a similar standard. That could well make for a thrilling season in the Premier League and a hugely unpredictable title race.

Our club-by-club guide ahead of the start of the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League campaign

Tue 5 Aug 2014
BPL Kick-off: Van Gaal has returned feel-good factor to Old Trafford

Quote:
Manchester United

Manager: Louis van Gaal (June 2014)
Home ground: Old Trafford
Players in: Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera
First five BPL matches: Swansea City (H), Sunderland (A), Burnley (A), Queens Park Rangers (H), Leicester City (A)

Louis van Gaal will take charge of his first competitive match as Manchester United manager when the 13-times Barclays Premier League champions kick off the 2014/15 campaign against Swansea City at Old Trafford.

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona coach, who led the Netherlands last month to third in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, took over at Old Trafford this summer with a view to improving the seventh position the club finished last term, the only time they have not finished in the top three in the Barclays Premier League.

Although the 2013/14 campaign started well for new manager David Moyes with an emphatic 4-1 victory at the Liberty Stadium in a reverse fixture of this season's opening-day encounter with Swansea City, early-season defeats by West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool led United to slip out of the top six. The League's best away record kept United in the hunt for UEFA Europa League qualification, but Tottenham Hotspur edged them to sixth in the final weeks.

United added to the January signing of Spain midfielder Juan Mata from Chelsea with his compatriot Ander Herrera and England left-back Luke Shaw, who established himself as one of the Barclays Premier League's leading young talents at Southampton.

Wayne Rooney, who needs 15 more goals to become the second-highest scorer in Barclays Premier League history, and Robin van Persie are among a host of attacking options who will lead United's pursuit of a 21st top-flight title.

Rooney helped United cap off a promising pre-season with a goal in their International Champions Cup final victory against Liverpool in Miami. Van Gaal also led his side to pre-season wins against Los Angeles Galaxy, AS Roma, Inter Milan and Real Madrid as he picked up his first trophy as United manager.

The Dutchman's assistant is Ryan Giggs, the club legend who retired from professional football after scoring 109 goals in 632 Barclays Premier League appearances and playing a part in 13 title triumphs, including their most recent in 2012/13, and was interim manager after the departure of Moyes for the final matches of last season.

After the League opener against Swansea, United will play newly promoted Burnley, Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City in the opening two months of the season. Sunderland, who knocked United out of the Capital One Cup semi-finals last season, and West Ham United also face Van Gaal's side in the early stages.

Hopes for the new season.

As a minimum requirement, Louis van Gaal will be expected to guide Manchester United back into the Champions League, although as the Dutchman stressed at his formal unveiling as manager last month, "for me the challenge is always first, and not fourth". Going from seventh to first would be a tall order, especially as Manchester City and Chelsea both have better-quality squads, but the lack of European football at Old Trafford should boost the prospects of a sustained title push. Liverpool demonstrated the benefits of an absence of European distractions last season. In contrast with 12 months ago, United also have a very kind start. Beyond that, United supporters will want to see a marked improvement in the style and speed of their team's football after the ponderous, one dimensional fare too often served up last term.

What was the overall impression of last season?

Beyond the improvement of David De Gea, the emergence of Adnan Januzaj and Wayne Rooney's sporadic return to form, it was a disastrous campaign. There was criticism of the quality of the squad that Sir Alex Ferguson had bequeathed David Moyes, but it should not be forgotten that the former Everton manager took over the champions. The manner in which the players - famed for their defiance, resilience and character under Ferguson – failed to perform was disappointing, as was shown in the abject 3-0 defeats at home to Liverpool and Manchester City respectively in March. Although United had a respectable away record, they were consumed by fear at Old Trafford, where they lost seven times in the league.

What are the special qualities of Louis van Gaal?

Ruthless decision-making and a big-club mentality for a start, which, after the uncertainty that seemed to inhibit Moyes, are being warmly received at Old Trafford. Van Gaal has wasted no time imposing himself, introducing a new 3-4-1-2 system he used to good effect at the World Cup finals with Holland this summer - double training sessions have been a fixture as he attempts to school the squad in the formation's finer details - as well as a host of rules designed to foster team spirit and discipline. For example, the senior squad, academy players and coaches now all eat lunch together at the club's Carrington training ground at 1pm. Carrington is being overhauled, with surveillance cameras installed on the training pitches so Van Gaal can film and review sessions in microscopic detail. After the laboured football last season, Van Gaal has been striving to increase the speed, tempo and precision of United's play.

Manchester United's strengths and weaknesses.

Financially, United continue to go from strength to strength, a new 10-year kit deal with Adidas for a reported £750 million underlining the club's global commercial appeal, despite their worst Premier League season for 23 years. In Rooney, Robin van Persie and Juan Mata, they have one of the league's most formidable attacks which, if utilised properly, should deliver goals and in De Gea one of Europe's outstanding young goalkeepers. Van Gaal has an impressive track record of success and appears to have quickly won the respect of the squad. Do not underestimate either the desire to atone for last season's embarrassment. Yet weaknesses abound. Ander Herrera's arrival from Athletic Bilbao should improve a midfield that has been neglected for too long and remains an area of concern and we will wait to discover whether the likes of Jonny Evans, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling - all of whom have had poor injury records in recent years - can prove they are good enough to fill the void left by Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

What is the mood like among the fans?

Hugely optimistic. Van Gaal's arrival has restored the feel-good factor. There is, of course, a danger that too much faith is being placed in the manager when the squad still requires surgery in key areas but it is not uncommon to hear supporters describing how they have "got their club back". The early signs have been very encouraging, with fans buoyed by what they saw on the club's pre-season tour of the United States and plenty quietly expecting the team to mount a genuine challenge for the championship.

What are the matches the fans always look forward to, and what are the ones they dread?

For the first time in a very long time last season, it was possible to detect a sense of dread among the United fan-base when the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City visited Old Trafford in March and subsequently underlined just why United supporters had been so apprehensive, both sides taking the champions apart. That - the sense of dread - will not be the case this term. The traditionally big games against City and Liverpool will be relished and the matches against Chelsea will be eagerly anticipated, not least because of the long standing relationship between Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.

Who is the best young talent BPL fans might see emerge this season?

Adnan Januzaj enjoyed an impressive debut season despite United's struggles and if the team can get their swagger back he could be in his element. The Belgium winger may have to be patient, though. There are no wingers in Van Gaal's system, and although there is confidence that Januzaj will thrive in time in the No 9 or No 10 roles, he will have to make the most of opportunities when they come. Reece James impressed on the club's tour of the US and the left-back may get a chance as an understudy to Luke Shaw. De Gea has bulked up again and looks impressive. Neither Herrera, Evans nor Tom Cleverley could be classed as young but they are the sort of players who should blossom under Van Gaal.

Manchester United in three words:
Wounded. Hungry. Expectant.

BPL Kick-off: 'Ambitious' Everton aiming for top four
PremierLeague.com - Thu 7 Aug 2014

Quote:
Everton

Manager: Roberto Martinez (June 2013)
Home ground: Goodison Park
Players in: Gareth Barry, Muhamed Besic, Romelu Lukaku, Brendan Galloway
First five BPL matches: Leicester City (A), Arsenal (H), Chelsea (H), West Bromwich Albion (A), Crystal Palace (H)[/
Everton completed the permanent signings of Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku and experienced midfielder Gareth Barry after the two shone during loan spells as Everton secured a club-record points haul and fifth place in the Barclays Premier League last term.

Lukaku joined from Chelsea in a club-record £28million transfer after scoring league 15 goals on loan with the Toffees and Barry, who reached 500 Barclays Premier League appearances last term after spells with Aston Villa and Manchester City, established himself as an integral part of the Merseyside club’s midfield.

The club's historic campaign was masterminded by manager Roberto Martinez, who was appointed in the summer of 2013 and also led the Toffees to the FA Cup quarter-finals in his first season at Goodison Park. The 41-year-old Spaniard previously had kept Wigan Athletic in the Barclays Premier League for four seasons before winning the FA Cup Final.

Under Martinez’s guidance, Everton secured home wins over Chelsea and Arsenal as they pushed the latter in the race for fourth position, before three defeats in their final five matches ended their chances of securing a place in the UEFA Champions League.

Fifth means that Everton will compete in the UEFA Europa League this season and to help their challenge they have also added 21-year-old midfielder Muhamed Besic, who impressed for Bosnia & Herzegovina in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Milton Keynes Dons defender Brendan Galloway has also signed but will join the Under-21s to begin with.

Everton begin the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League season with a trip to newly promoted Leicester City, who beat the Toffees in a pre-season friendly in Thailand. Home matches against Arsenal and Chelsea follow, before they make the short trip to Liverpool at the end of September. The two sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Goodison Park last term.
The Toffees came one position short of their best Barclays Premier League finish last term. They have been competing in the top flight since 1954, were fourth in the 2004/05 campaign and have gone on to secure top-eight finishes in all but one of the seasons since then.

Quote:
Best BPL finish : 4th (2004/05)
Last five BPL finishes : 5th 6th 7th 7th 8th
Seasons in the BPL : All (1992/93-2013/14)
Most BPL appearances : Leon Osman (322)
Top BPL goalscorer : Duncan Ferguson (60)
The local view - Greg O'Keeffe (Liverpool Echo)
Hopes for the new season.

The priority is to ensure that the Europa League enhances Everton's season rather than having a negative impact. Everton have not been in Europe since the 2009/10 season. They are back and it is an important stepping stone for Roberto Martinez and his plans of eventually turning them into a Champion League unit.

They are an ambitions club and with a bright young manager and they can only hope for better than last season. They finished fifth and for large parts of the campaign they were in the mix to get fourth. They have come very close before to the Champions League back in 2005 and just missed out in the qualifying stages. Fourth place would be the target.

What was the overall impression of last season?

A tremendous success. Everton got a record Premier League points total and the fans were absolutely delighted. They probably suspected last season might be a transitional period after 11 years of David Moyes. The new guy coming had a good reputation but nonetheless had just had his Wigan Athletic side relegated. There was a degree of trepidation, it was a big change. Martinez surpassed all expectations and built on the good work that Moyes had done and introduced a new style of football that was a pleasure to watch.

What are the special qualities of Roberto Martinez?

He just brings a boundless optimism that Everton can defy any financial restraints and buy into a system of football by believing in a style of play that can get them where they want to be. It's a tremendous thing, the belief he brings to the club. He also brings a real appetite for success. He won a trophy at Wigan and he clearly wants to win things with Everton, too. As well as trying to move the club forward in terms of getting into the top four, he will want to progress in the FA Cup as well. Everton have not won a trophy in 20 years and it's just too long for a club of Everton's size.*

Everton's strengths and weaknesses.

One strength is their stylish, attacking football. The way they keep the ball and can break teams down in possession. Certainly in possession, they are great. Everyone knows their roles. That's part of Martinez's coaching brilliance. He has come in and taken apart a side who played a certain style under Moyes and he is asking them to do something very different. So far it has worked. Everyone has a set way of playing, they know the ball is to be passed. They know that it's very much a case of trying to emulate the Barcelona model and break teams down with the ball and keep possession.
One of their weaknesses last season was their attacking set-pieces. There didn't seem to be much from corners or free-kicks. The only thing they really had was Leighton Baines and his deliveries. Early in the season he had success with his direct free-kicks but that faltered towards the end of the campaign.

What have you made of Everton's signings so far?

Everton's summer business has been really good so far. Gareth Barry was an important signing. Everyone who watched him last season saw that he and James McCarthy have a wonderful partnership in midfield. It was the perfect blend of energy, youth, vitality and experience. Martinez is keen to build a team full of young players but he knows he needs experienced wiser heads as well. The pedigree of Barry with of his experience, his England caps and his time at Man City and Aston Villa meant getting him to stick around was important.

Martinez was out at the World Cup looking for players while he was commentating for ESPN and liked what he saw in Muhamed Besic and managed to get him for what looks like a value fee. We have only seen him in a couple of friendlies so far but he looks the player we saw at the World Cup. He has loads of grit and energy and on the ball he looks very comfortable. He looks a really dynamic player who will probably be a bit of a cult hero at Goodison if what we have seen is anything to go by.*

Romelu Lukaku was another great signing. Everton have needed a big No 9, a striker capable of scoring 20 goals a season for a long time. He got 15 in the league in his first season at the club and that was only on loan so the big hope is that he is going to go one better now he is a full-time player. He is only 21 and has got plenty of years to grow and develop.

What are the matches the fans always look forward to, and what are the ones they dread?

They obviously always look forward to the Merseyside derby, although last season left a bit of a sour taste with a 4-0 defeat at Anfield, so they will want to avenge that as soon as they can. Trips to Old Trafford are always big fixtures. Last season Everton went and finally got a result there after a long time. That will be something they will look forward to. Of course, Man City, which is a club that Everton have done well against in recent seasons. They are a real litmus test and trying to get something there will be important this season.

As for the ones they dread, probably the visit to Southampton after last season. The nadir of the 2013/14 campaign was when they were still in the mix to get in the top four and they went to St Mary's, scored two own goals and lost 2-0. It was a really dismal day and it was the final nail in any hopes of getting into the top four. Everton will be looking to get that out of their system.

Who is the best young talent BPL fans might see emerge this season?

You can't talk about one without the other: Ross Barkley and John Stones. Everton have got two tremendous young players who have already got England caps. They are both not 21 and really are fantastic talents.*

Stones is a central defender who is really comfortable on the ball, loves a pass and has got a real brain. Barkley is a dynamic, exciting central midfielder with an eye for goal who seems to have everything that's required at the top level.
Martinez is a manager who believes in youth. He is going to play them and give them a chance. He showed last season he won't hold them back and he will play them in big games as well.* Ross and John are at the perfect club and under the perfect manager to thrive.

Everton in three words
On the brink.

Contributor Teamtalk:

colmanparsons*(Manchester United): Yes it was only QPR and yes it is only a small step but that team was only together for a week. I have a feeling I will be quoting Paul Merson's "Utd are miles off 3rd" a few times this season.

The league can effectively be broken into 4 groups, the top 2 of Chelsea & City.
The next 5 of Arsenal, Liverpool, Utd, Spus, Everton who can beat anyone on any given day during the year.
Then you have Southampton, Swansea, villa & Stoke who will take points off top teams and finish upper mid table.
And the rest who can be dragged into a relegation battle or do a Palace.
No gimmes this year, very competitive league.

Default Re: [2014-2015] Persaingan team-team papan atas EPL ... ?!?!

Sementara ini chelsea yg keliatan paling siap buat jd juara.. Secara skuad mereka cukup solid, tp ga tw kl UCL uda di mulai lg di mana mereka kurang punya pelapis di bek..

Pdhl chelsea buanyak bgt nge loan pemain hahaha efek belanja sekian tahun...

Costa/remy sama2 nyeremin x_x akhirnya mereka punya striker yg bener

Jamie Carragher believes Arsenal will not win Premier League title, and have fallen further behind Chelsea over the summer

* Jamie Carragher claims Arsenal's failure to see out games will cost them chance to win the Premier League title
* Former Liverpool defender claims Gunners have fallen further behind Chelsea following similar finishes in the top flight last term
* Carragher claims Blues have stolen march on London rivals in transfer market

Jamie Carragher believes Arsenal will not win the Premier League title and can’t see games out after losing their lead to Manchester City on Saturday.

Martin Demichelis’ 83rd minute equaliser at the Emirates meant Arsenal have now drawn their last three Premier League games, already leaving them six points behind leaders Chelsea after only four matches.

And the former Liverpool defender says the club have fallen further behind Chelsea this season after similar finishes last term.

Jamie Carragher claimed on Monday Night Football that he believed Arsenal would not win the league title

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said: ‘I said start of the season, I don’t think Arsenal will win the title. The way I think of Arsenal is similar to Chelsea, one finished third one finished fourth. They probably spent similar money in the summer.

‘Why didn’t Arsenal get [Diego] Costa. Danny Welbeck might be a good signing. They need a left back, Chelsea go to Atletico Madrid and get Filipe Luis. They just do what they need to do.’

Arsenal struggled against the top four last season, and for the second game in a row lost a lead. Carragher sees a trend with the Gunners and believes Arsene Wenger’s side struggle to hold on to three points.

‘They don’t look as if they know how to see a game out. As soon as it went 2-2 I don’t fancy Arsenal to get a winner, I fancied City to win the game and they almost did.

‘It’s not just a physical thing with Arsenal, it’s a mental thing and that even could be more important.’
