Re: [EPL] Manchester United vs Huddersfield Town
YOUR MATCH PREVIEW FOR UNITED V HUDDERSFIELD
Manchester United will be aiming to spread more festive cheer when hosting Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford on Boxing Day. After three back-to-back fixtures on the road in the Premier League and the Champions League, the Reds return to Old Trafford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prepares to take charge of his first home game as United caretaker manager. The Norwegian will be hoping for a result similar to the last one at Old Trafford, with the Reds beating Fulham convincingly courtesy of goals from Ashley Young, Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford or, of course, our last outing at Cardiff City as the Welsh side were beaten 5-1. Here's everything you need to know ahead of the Boxing Day clash... WHAT'S THE TEAM NEWS? Chris Smalling and Romelu Lukaku are among United's doubts while Alexis Sanchez is likely to still be sidelined. There should be plenty of options available to Solskjaer. WHAT ABOUT HUDDERSFIELD? The Terriers have been dealt a severe blow with Aaron Mooy ruled out until February due to a knee injury. The Australian midfielder is Huddersfield's joint-top goalscorer with two goals this season and had often proved useful from set-pieces. Meanwhile, Rajiv van La Parra returned to training last week after a back strain, but Danny Williams (knee),Tommy Smith (hamstring) and Abdelhamid Sabiri (broken collarbone) look set to miss out. WHAT'S OUR RECORD LIKE AGAINST HUDDERSFIELD? Since the inception of the Football League, United have faced Huddersfield Town on 44 occasions - winning 19, drawing 15 and losing 10 times. With the Terriers being absent from the top flight from 1972 until 2017, it means that our unbeaten home run against the visitors stretches back 88 years to September 1930. The Terriers returned to Old Trafford in February and were beaten convincingly with Romelu Lukaku scoring, along with a first goal in United colours for Alexis Sanchez in a 2-0 win. HOW ARE HUDDERSFIELD DOING? This weekend's visitors are currently fighting for their Premier League lives after surviving their first season back in the top flight. David Wagner's side are currently mired in the bottom three having won just two of their 17 fixtures thus far - at home to fellow strugglers Fulham and away to Wolves. Huddersfield are also failing to make an impact in front of goal. The Terriers have only scored 11 goals this season, the lowest of any club in the top four divisions in England. With fixtures against Fulham, Burnley and Cardiff to come after United, these games could prove crucial if they want to secure a third consecutive season of Premier League football. ONE TO WATCH Alongside Aaron Mooy with two goals, Mathias Jorgensen is Huddersfield's joint-top goalscorer this season. The Danish defender - nicknamed Zanka after a character in the film Cool Runnings - has proved to be a useful threat in the box for the Terriers. Jorgensen got the finishing touch after throw-in against Leicester and doubled his goal tally for the season with a header against Brighton, following a poor clearance from the Seagulls. His defensive skills up at the other end of the pitch have helped David Wagner's side keep three clean during the campaign so far. WHO IS THE REFEREE? Jonathan Moss will take charge of the Boxing Day fixture. The 48-year old from Sunderland will officiate his third United game of the campaign having previously overseen our victories against Burnley and Everton. Moss has proven this season that he is not one that keeps his cards in his pocket either. So far, the referee from Wearside has handed out 58 yellow cards and four red cards including sending off Marcus Rashford in our win at Turf Moor. He will be assisted by Stuart Burt and Andy Halliday with Craig Pawson serving as fourth official. www.manutd.com |

TEAM NEWS FOR UNITED V HUDDERSFIELD ON BOXING DAY
Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is pondering his selection for his first home game in charge - the Boxing Day meeting with Huddersfield Town (kick-off 15:00 GMT). The Norwegian will be met by a rapturous reception from the Old Trafford crowd when the Reds look to build on the 5-1 victory at Cardiff City at the weekend. No fresh injury worries were reported after an excellent team performance, although it remains to be seen if any of those not involved are available, such as full-back Antonio Valencia, centre-backs Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo, midfielder Scott McTominay and striker Romelu Lukaku. Alexis Sanchez is back in Manchester as he continues to recover from injury, while youngsters Angel Gomes and James Garner travelled with the first-team squad to Wales. Ole has revealed he will give all of his players the opportunity to impress in the upcoming period, saying: “Everyone in the squad knows: ‘I will get a chance now’. Whatever has gone, whatever has happened, has happened. Everyone starts with a clean slate. We want players to perform, given the chance.” Although Solskjaer will have to think hard about changing a winning side, the three players who came on at Cardiff - Marouane Fellaini, Fred and Andreas Pereira - may all be in his thoughts. Huddersfield are set to be without Tommy Smith, Danny Williams Abdelhamid Sabiri and Aaron Mooy, but there is a chance Rajiv van La Parra could recover from a back problem. www.manutd.com |

Re: [EPL] Manchester United vs Huddersfield Town
Manchester United must relish playing at Old Trafford says interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of Boxing Day clash with Huddersfield
* Solskjaer's caretaker spell got off to an ideal start with a 5-1 win at Cardiff City * However United remain eight points behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the table * United have recorded only four wins in eight home league games this season Manchester United's interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promised to be true to the club's attacking traditions and show opponents no mercy. United face struggling Huddersfield at Old Trafford after Solskjaer began his five-month stint with an emphatic 5-1 win at Cardiff City last Saturday. It was the first time United have scored so many goals in a League game since Sir Alex Ferguson retired with a 5-5 draw at West Brom in May 2013, and a clear sign that Solskjaer intends being more cavalier than his predecessors Jose Mourinho, Louis van Gaal and David Moyes. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expects his players to relish the opportunity of playing at Old Trafford The former United striker hopes to make the most of the attacking talent at the club, and Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard (twice) all scored at Cardiff. 'The attacking philosophy is in the walls of Man United,' said Solskjaer. 'That's tradition, that's how we want to play. Cardiff was a reflection of what we want. We spoke about how when we get one goal, we want to get two. When we get two, we want three. That's the nature of the club. 'It's not going to happen every game where we create chances like we did (against Cardiff) but you've got to try. 'With the pace we've got up front, I don't think any team would like Rashford, Martial, Lingard and (Paul) Pogba running at them.' Solskjaer scoffed at suggestions that United may have set the bar too high by winning so handsomely in his first game and called on his team to be even better against Huddersfield. 'You can't set the bar too high,' he added. 'They're setting the standard. The players who play for this club have high standards. It's not like they were outperforming themselves (against Cardiff). We can be better.' Solskjaer admits it will be an emotional experience leading United at Old Trafford where he is revered as a player, scoring the winning goal in the 1999 Champions League final as well as winning six Premier League titles and the FA Cup twice. 'I just hope in the next five months I'll do a good enough job for them to keep singing my name,' he added. United have struggled at home this season and Solskjaer wants to return it to a place where they enjoy playing and opponents fear to tread. 'That comes when you sign for Man United,' he said. 'You know you're going to play in front of the best fans in the world. 'So I'm happy, and looking forward to Boxing Day.' Code:
