Re: [UCL] Valencia 0-1 Man United
Valencia vs Manchester United, Player Rating
MEN VAN DER SAR Amazing first-half let-off when Soldado missed an open goal. Dutchman’s vast experience ensured he didn’t wobble. 7 RAFAEL Did simple things well i.e. cleared up rare danger moments . High pressure Euro experience won’t do him any harm. 7 FERDINAND Great Mr Cool is back – and partnered with Vidic. Did what was necessary in United’s textbook smash and grab raid. 8 VIDIC Lucky not to be embarrassed by Soldado as Valencia looked more likely to settle deadlock before double substitution. 7 EVRA Would have liked to have seen him further forward but his discipline helped ensure a sound defensive platform. 7 ANDERSON Rare big-time start for midfielder and had best chance to break deadlock for Reds in a dire first-half. Faded late on. 6 CARRICK Mistake giving up posession in danger area almost cost United. Understandably a bit rusty after so long out of team. 6 FLETCHER Held makeshift midfield together that lacked the sparkle and experience of veterans Scholes and Giggs. 7 PARK Battled away and such a pity his final ball failed to find target. All-action style just what Fergie needed in tough fixture. 6 NANI Showed glimpses of great skill as he continues to build his reputation after a stop-start beginning to his United career. 7 BERBATOV The lone ranger toiled to make an impact and his departure allowed introduction of Macheda, who created famous win. 6 SUBSTITUTES HERNANDEZ (Anderson 75) Picked his spot brilliantly for the winner 9 MACHEDA (Berbatov 84) In less than a minute made the winner 8

Re: [EPL] Sunderland 0-0 Man Utd
Sunderland vs Manchester United, Player Rating
MEN Edwin van der Sar - 7 Early key moment in one versus one with Malbranque and stood up to the test Rafael - 6 Didn't really get going as an attacking force. Caught out a couple of times defending Rio Ferdinand - 8 Top man again. He steadied United's back line and frustrated Sunderland Nemanja Vidic - 7 Looked a shade uneasy against Bent early on but became dominant force John O'Shea - 7 His steadiest display of the season after finding himself under fire at times Darren Fletcher - 5 Can never question his effort but he never got on top of midifled battle Paul Scholes - 6 Nowhere near his most influential but was best in Reds engine room Anderson - 5 Was pretty much dominated by Cattermole Nani - 6 Most likely United man to break deadlock but not that many chances Federico Macheda - 5 The Italian youngster was match winning hero on Wearside two seasons ago but never got close this time Michael Owen - 5 Never really looked like he was going to have a great impact on the game Substitutes Dimitar Berbatov - 6 (for Owen, 46) missed a golden chance Javier Hernandez - 6 (for Macheda, 64) livened up the attack Bebe - 6 (for Anderson (80) little time to make an impact

Five of the Reds' Barclays Premier League games, including the clashes at home to Arsenal and away to Chelsea, have been selected for live TV broadcast in the UK on Sky or ESPN. The revised kick-offs and / or dates, all in UK time, are as follows: Blackpool away, Saturday 4 December KO 17:30 (ESPN) Arsenal home, Monday 13 December (originally Saturday 11 December) KO 20:00 (Sky) Chelsea away, Sunday 19 December (originally Saturday 18 December) KO 16:00 (Sky) Birmingham City away, Tuesday 28 December KO 20:00 (Sky) West Bromwich Albion away, Saturday 1 January KO 12:45 (Sky) The only other league game between 4 December and 5 January - at home to Sunderland, on Boxing Day - has not been selected for live TV and will therefore kick off at the traditional 15:00 GMT.

Manchester United vs West Bromwich Albion, Player Rating
MEN Edwin van der Sar - 5 It had been such an easy afternoon but his inexplicable howler wrecked it Rafael - 6 Had been a competent effort but he got caught up in second half sloppiness Rio Ferdinand - 7 Was largely comfortably on top of everything that concerned him Nemanja Vidic - 6 Had been solid but he didn't command defence when the nerves set in Patrice Evra - 7 Had an excellent first half but like most others he didn't get into the second period Michael Carrick - 5 Quiet throughout and rarely produced a killer pass Ryan Giggs - 5 Started off with a few dangerous runs but then injury curtailed his afternoon Anderson - 5 Gave away the free kick that got Albion back in it and generally didn't suggest he could alter things Nani - 6 Made the first and scored second but then his impact faded dramatically Javier Hernandez - 5 Alertness got Reds off to a flyer but then he went missing Dimitar Berbatov - 7 Ran the first half show but when United needed his touch it wasn't there Substitutes Darron Gibson - 5 (for Giggs 42) Failed to make impact Paul Scholes - 5 (for Carrick 71) - No magic dust Wayne Rooney - 5 (for Anderson 71) Still off the pace

Re: [UCL] Man Utd 1-0 Bursaspor
Manchester United vs Bursaspor, Player Rating
Goal.com Manchester United Tomasz Kuszczak - 6.0 Surely the easiest night of his career. Not forced into a single save. Patrice Evra - 6.0 A solid defensive display from one of United's most reliable players. Grew as an offensive threat in the second-half, particularly on the occasions when Nani switched over the the left side. Nemanja Vidic - 6.5 A comfortable night for the United captain, who marshalled the defence with aplomb and guided the inexperienced Chris Smalling through the game. Chris Smalling - 6.0 An excellent game for the summer signing from Fulham to get some valuable minutes in a Manchester United shirt. Relatively untested but his composed manner will draw comparisons with Rio Ferdinand. He needs to avoid lapses in concentration but communicated well with Vidic. Rafael Da Silva - 6.5 Formed a superb understanding on the right with Nani and always looked to attack when on the ball. Superb last ditch tackle denied Volkan Sen. Ji-Sung Park - 5.5 The type of display United fans have come accustomed to over the years from the South Korean, who has refreshingly admitted to not being mentally prepared for the season. Unfaltering work rate but was not the man to unlock the door as his side searched for a second goal so was replaced by Gabriel Obertan. Michael Carrick - 6.0 A solid if unspectular performance from the England midfielder, who played the deepest of the midfield trio. Some tidy defensive interceptions and simple short passes. Darren Fletcher - 6.5 A player who looks like he wants to play for the club with everything he does on the pitch. Set the tempo by snapping into tackles from the first minute and always looking to pass and move. Anderson - 6.5 A typically energetic performance from the Brazilian. Involved in much of the hosts' good work but did not quite have the final delivery when United needed more creativity. Replaced by Javier Hernandez due to injury. Nani - Top of the Match 7.0 Wonderful solo goal from a player with all the natural talent to be a world-beater. Flitted in and out of the game but was always a menace when he got on the ball and some great deliveries. Federico Macheda - 6.5 The Italian teenager will see Wayne Rooney's impending exit as a chance for him to step into the fold and he looked sharp from the off. Could have scored with early strike from a tight angle. Faded badly in second period. • Substitutions Gabriel Obertan - 6.0 Plenty of flicks and tricks for those supporters who were still awake. Javier Hernández Balcázar - 6.0 Late substitute showed his goal threat but fired wide when well placed.
