Re: [2018/19] UCL Matches
Manchester United could be forced to switch Champions League first leg to play AWAY if rivals City are drawn at home too in the quarter-finals
* Manchester United may have to reverse their Champions League quarter-final * United and Manchester City will not play on the same or consecutive nights * Safety officials do not want two big games in Manchester in the same week * As United finished below City in the Premier League last season, they will move Manchester United will have to reverse their Champions League quarter-final and play away if Manchester City are drawn at home at the same time. The two clubs go into the pot for Friday’s draw, along with Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcelona, Juventus, Ajax and Porto, when the match-ups for both the quarters and semis will be revealed. There is a possibility that United and City could face each other in an epic Manchester derby, or be paired with Premier League rivals Liverpool and Spurs. Manchester United may be forced to reverse their Champions League quarter-final tie. United and Manchester City will not be allowed to play on the same or consecutive nights. Police and safety officials do not want to host two big games in Manchester in the same week. United will have to rearrange after finishing below City in the Premier League last season However, UEFA have confirmed that if both clubs are drawn at home on the same night or consecutive nights, there will have to be a switch because police and safety officials do not want to host two big games in Manchester in the same week. United would be the club forced to play away under Champions League rules because they finished one place below City in the Premier League last season. A statement from UEFA read: ‘Following a decision made by the relevant local authorities, Manchester City FC and Manchester United FC cannot play at home on the same night, nor on consecutive nights. ‘Should both clubs be drawn within the same sequence (home or away), the team having finished lower in the domestic league the previous season – in this case Manchester United FC - will be reversed in accordance with the UEFA Club Competitions Committee principles. ‘The match schedule for the quarter-finals (including a potential reversal involving Manchester United FC) will be communicated to all parties on Friday 15 March. ‘In accordance with paragraph 21.01(b) of the UEFA Champions League regulations, the UEFA administration will determine which matches will be played on Tuesday, which matches on Wednesday. ‘The calendar for the semi-finals (including a potential reversal involving Manchester United FC, for the same reasons, if both clubs from Manchester are still remaining in the competition) will be communicated to all parties on 18 April 2019, following the return legs of the quarter-finals.’ Code:

Re: [2018/19] UCL Matches
Jose Mourinho reveals who he wants old side Manchester United to draw in the Champions League quarter-finals
* Jose Mourinho is keen to see two all-English Champions League quarter-finals * He said that City vs United, and Spurs vs Liverpool would be 'fantastic matches' * Mourinho would like Juventus and Barcelona to be kept apart until later on Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho would like to see two all-English quarter-finals in the Champions League. For the first time since 2009 half of the last eight in UEFA's flagship club competition hail from the Premier League after United, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City all made progess. The draw for the quarter-finals will take place in Nyon on Friday and, despite having left his job in the Old Trafford hot-seat in December, Mourinho will be an interested spectator. Jose Mourinho is keen to see two all-English Champions League quarter-finals. Rivals Manchester United and City are both in the last eight of Europe's premier tournament 'I would like English teams to play against each other, without any kind of preference,' he told RT. 'But I would do two matches between English teams, which would mean two teams would be in the semi-finals. 'I think if the draw gives something like Manchester City vs Manchester United, or Tottenham against Liverpool, for example, I think would be absolutely fantastic matches.' Mourinho's former clubs also include Porto and Real Madrid, who were knocked out in stunning fashion by Ajax in the round of 16. And he would like to see Porto face Ajax in the quarters to guarantee that one of the lesser-fancied sides stays in. He explained: 'My second choice would be not by tactical or emotional reasons but by what I think would be fantastic extra motivation I would do Ajax versus Porto, as that would mean one of them reach the semi-finals. 'They are doing so, so well during the competition that I think it would be amazing for one of them. It would be amazing for Portugal as a country, Netherlands as a country, to have a team in the semi-final.' Juventus overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit to beat Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night thanks to a hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo. That result created the possibility of a Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi clash in the last eight, but Mourinho would prefer it if Juve and Barcelona were kept apart on Friday. He added: 'I wouldn't like Juventus against Barcelona because I think it would be something really special Barcelona against Juventus in a possible final or semi-final. 'Two great teams that are not being successful in the Champions League for a few years, of course Juventus so much more than Barcelona, 'And led by two big players Cristiano and Messi is something I wouldn't waste on a quarter-final, I would wait a little bit more.'
