Default Re: Cristiano Ronaldo

Against CR7! Furious Atletico Madrid fans urge the club NOT to sign Cristiano Ronaldo amid talk of Man United's wantaway star joining them on loan this summer... with supporters launching an online protest over a potential deal for the ex-Real Madrid man

* A number of Atletico fans have made it clear they are opposed to his signing
* Cristiano Ronaldo tormented the club during his time with rivals Real Madrid
* The Portuguese is reported to be desperate to play Champions League football

Supporters of Atletico Madrid have begun a Twitter campaign imploring their club not to sign wantaway Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, 37, wants to leave United after only a season having returned after 12 years last summer. The Portuguese is said to be desperate to play Champions League football.

A number of clubs have been touted for his signature, including Chelsea earlier in the window, with Atleti now emerging as the likeliest destination for the player should he leave United.

However, a number of supporters of Los Colchoneros have made it clear on social media that they do not wish for the club to sign Ronaldo.

Using the hashtag 'Contra CR7' (against CR7) on Twitter, supporters have tweeted things as dramatic as threatening to cancel their memberships with the club should they sign the former Real Madrid player.

'If this one (Ronaldo) comes to my Atleti, I will cancel my two subscriptions.... We are not an asylum to collect scum,' one supporter tweeted.

Cristiano Ronaldo regularly haunted Atletico Madrid during his time with city rivals Real. Ronaldo wishes to leave Manchester United this summer to play in the Champions League. The Portuguese put in a number of high profile performances against the club - notably in the Champions League. His penalty to make it 4-1 in Lisbon in 2014 drew the ire of the fans after he removed his top - a sign of disrespect, many believed

Animosity between the club and the player of course stretches back to his enormously successful nine-year stay at city rivals Real Madrid.

In that time, Atleti emerged under Diego Simeone to challenge Real Madrid and Barcelona for league titles and domestic competitions.

It was in the Champions League, however, with Real Madrid beating Atleti in the finals of 2014 and 2016, as well as beating them in the semi-finals of the competition in 2017.

Ronaldo, typically, had a major part to play in all three of those occasions. He scored the fourth in Real Madrid's 4-1 win in 2014, removing his top after netting his penalty in extra-time.

He then scored the winning penalty in the shootout at the San Siro in 2016 and in 2017 he scored a first-leg hat-trick at the Bernabeu.

His haunting of the club did not stop there. When he joined Juventus in 2018 Atleti fans might have hoped they'd seen the back of him. It was not to be.

A second-leg hat-trick in that season's Champions League consigned supporters of Madrid's traditional second club to yet more pain at the hands of the Portuguese.

Expressing their displeasure at the very notion the club would go anywhere near a player who was an arch-rival for so long, fans even said they'd rather lose than sign the player.

Another wrote: 'At the club, we would never put the results of the brand, image or economic dividends before the sports or social ones. #ContraCR7 '.

Other fans simply tweeted a photo of Ronaldo with a cross through his picture alongside the now-viral hashtag.

While another Atleti loyalist simply wrote 'Never on my team. Our values are above your goals.'

Ronaldo, who appears to be trying to engineer a move away from United before the season begins, finds himself in a difficult spot with a number of clubs having already distanced themselves from his signing.

The Portuguese is willing to take a pay cut to join Atleti. Clearly, the desire for him to join is not mirrored by many of the supporters.

Default Re: Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has travelled back to Manchester ahead of showdown talks with Erik ten Hag over his future set to take place TODAY... with United still insisting the veteran superstar WON'T be sold despite him wanting out of Old Trafford

* Cristiano Ronaldo is returning to Manchester today to discuss his future
* The wantaway forward has requested a transfer from Manchester United
* The club remain adamant that he will not be sold and he is a part of their plans
* Several of Europe's top sides have distanced themselves from a potential move
* His services have been touted to Atletico Madrid by his agent Jorge Mendes

Cristiano Ronaldo is set for crunch talks with Manchester United and new manager Erik ten Hag over his future.

Ronaldo was expected back in Manchester on Monday night and could meet Ten Hag as early as Tuesday when the rest of the squad return to training following the club’s tour of Thailand and Australia.

The 37-year-old Portugal star has missed the first three weeks of pre-season after being given compassionate leave for a family issue, having told United he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Ten Hag talked to Ronaldo when he took over at the end of last season, but it will be the first time the two men have spoken since the player asked to go.

Contact between the two camps has been maintained by United chief executive Richard Arnold and Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes who has been hawking his client around Europe’s top clubs.

Ronaldo’s return is being seen as a positive sign, although it’s still unclear whether he is ready to commit to United for another season or re-iterate his desire to be sold.

United were still adamant on Monday night that Ronaldo is not for sale and remains part of Ten Hag’s plans for the new season.

The five-time Balon d’Or winner has been keeping himself fit in Lisbon, but he may not be ready to go straight back into full training with the rest of the squad who had Monday off after flying back from Perth on Sunday.

Dutch manager Erik ten Hag has remained consistently tight-lipped when facing questions on the club legend's future, and has suggested Ronaldo will remain a United player at least another season.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has 12 months remaining on the deal he signed last season after his arrival from Juventus, but there is an option for a further year.

Ten Hag said, when questioned in Australia: 'I am well informed, he also has also an option [of another year].

Cristiano Ronaldo is on his way back to Manchester today for talks with Manchester United. Ronaldo was granted time off this summer to spend time with his family and missed the club's 17-day pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia. As a manager who famously likes to spend as much time preparing his squad's tactical approach as much as possible, Ronaldo's pre-season absence will have proven a concern

'Yes [he could stay beyond this season], but to be honest, of course, I have signed here for three years, but in football it's short-term as well. We have to win from the start. So I don't look that far ahead.

'I have a strategy, it's a process, it takes time but in the end, we have to make sure from the outset there is a winning team.'

The club initially accepted Ronaldo's stance, although ten Hag has frequently reiterated this summer that the player is not for sale and he would like him to remain a part of the side in the new season.

Despite his status in the game, there were very few interested parties when the Portuguese forward announced his intentions to leave United this summer, with only one concrete bid from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club.

Chelsea, Bayern Munich and even former club Real Madrid all turned down the opportunity to move for one the game's greatest ever players, and surprisingly the strongest rumours were with former nemeses Atletico Madrid.

Although it is understood that Ronaldo would take a cut on his £500,000-a-week wages, Atletico would need to sell players to fund the move.

However Atleti have distanced themselves from a potential move, and the rumours sparked outrage amongst the club's fanbase, as they made it very clear they did not want to sign a player who spent nine years at their city rivals, during which time he twice denied them a Champions League trophy in the 2014 and 2016 finals.

The forward has not been shy about sharing his own pre-season training regime with his followers, and has clearly sustained his well-documented devotion to his own physical fitness.

He initially hinted that he might be staying at the Red Devils after tweeting a photo of himself in the gym in club shorts, although he has kept his silence since on that front, and no further insinuation has been forthcoming as yet.

The Red Devils have signed three players so far this summer, despite a delayed start to their business in the market.

They have completed deals for Christian Eriksen, who joined for free after his short-term contract expired at Brentford, after luring Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord and signed versatile centre-back Lisandro Martinez for £55million from Ajax.

Now Atletico Madrid are out of the Ronaldo race! Spanish club's president says it's 'practically impossible' for them to land the Manchester United ace this summer as another potential exit option vanishes for wantaway star

* Atletico Madrid have ruled themselves out of a move for Cristiano Ronaldo
* The 37-year-old returned to United this week after missing their pre-season tour
* The player’s agent Jorge Mendes is trying to engineer a move away from United
* Bayern Munich and Chelsea have already ruled themselves out of a possible deal

Cristiano Ronaldo's chances of being granted his exit from Manchester United dwindled on Tuesday night when Atletico Madrid ruled themselves out of a move for the Portugal forward.

The 37-year-old returned to United on Tuesday after missing the club’s 17-day tour of Thailand and Australia on compassionate leave.

He held showdown talks with new manager Erik ten Hag, their first meeting since Ronaldo told the club he wants out.

The player’s agent Jorge Mendes is trying to engineer a move, but with Bayern Munich and Chelsea having already said no, Ronaldo’s options decreased again when Atletico president Enrique Cerezo said his club could not afford the striker.

Talking to Spanish radio, Cerezo said: ‘I don’t know who invented this story about Cristiano Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid.

'It’s not true. It’s practically impossible for him to come to Atletico Madrid.’

United maintain that their star forward is not for sale.

Ronaldo has a year left on his £360,000-a-week contract and has vowed to remain professional as talks over his future continue.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo said his club could not afford any move for Ronaldo

He was part of Manchester United’s tour debrief on Tuesday and proved his willingness to remain professional when he joined United team-mates plus new signings Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez for manager Ten Hag’s 90-minute analysis of their recent tour of Thailand and Australia.

Ronaldo also stopped briefly to greet former boss Sir Alex Ferguson and captain Bryan Robson in the club restaurant ahead of the meeting at 11.30am.

Ferguson and Robson were at Carrington for a scheduled lunch with chief executive Richard Arnold and David Gill, the club’s former CEO.

Arnold was expected to meet Mendes later on to discuss the striker’s future but the club were unwilling to go into detail.

Mendes has indicated he has been impressed by Arnold’s approach and willingness to listen. There has also been an attempt from Arnold to convince Ronaldo to stay and, as of Tuesday night, the club’s official stance remains the same: he is not for sale.

United face Wrexham in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday but Ronaldo is unlikely to feature.

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United on Tuesday with his agent Jorge Mendes and has informed the club that he wishes to be relinquished from his contract to free him to join a Champions League side.

United have countered that they have no desire to sell him and maintained last night that there was no change in their stance, nor have they received any enquiries.

Talks have failed to change the 37-year-old's mind about wishing to leave but he will carry on in a professional manner.

Ronaldo only returned to Carrington on Tuesday after missing all of United's pre-season tour to Thailand and Australia.

He underwent medical tests and then trained on Wednesday before watching his team-mates in a behind-closed-doors friendly match against Wrexham.

It was thought this weekend's double-header of friendlies against Atletico Madrid on Saturday in Oslo and Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday may come too soon.

But it's believed Ronaldo may have an eye on the Rayo Vallecano one, which will feature more of a second string side.

He has been working hard in the gym having been excused from the tour for family reasons.

But as a result, Ronaldo has not been immersed in Ten Hag's methods ahead of the new season and will have to be reintegrated gradually.

Cristiano Ronaldo was back at Manchester United's training ground on Wednesday and watched his team-mates in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Wrexham. Talks with United could not dissuade the player from wanting an exit. New manager Erik ten Hag gave a debrief of the pre-season tour to Ronaldo on Tuesday. Ronaldo would have to play catch-up on the training ground to be ready for the new season

New signings Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen played against National League side Wrexham, with the Dane on the scoresheet. United won the match 4-1.

Ronaldo had swept back into United's training ground in his £168,000 Bentley on Tuesday morning, sitting alongside his agent Jorge Mendes.

He joined manager Erik ten Hag, as well as Martinez and Eriksen, for a debrief of the pre-season trip he played no part in having been excused on compassionate grounds

Cristiano Ronaldo 'tells Manchester United he DOES have an offer from a rival club' and the wantaway veteran 'has urged the Red Devils to name their price so he can trigger a move'

* Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to leave Manchester United ahead of his final year
* The Portuguese star has reportedly told the club that an offer is waiting
* This is despite United having received zero enquiries for their star player
* Ronaldo is said to have asked the club to name their transfer value for him

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told Manchester United that he does have an offer on the table to leave the club this summer.

The Sun have claimed that the Portuguese superstar who wants to leave Old Trafford, has urged United chiefs to name their price for him, so he can trigger a move away by the end of the transfer window.

This comes despite a number of Europe's top clubs, including Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, distancing themselves from signing the 37-year-old and United not receiving any enquiries.

Ronaldo, alongside his agent Jorge Mendes, have held showdown talks with United's hierarchy this week - after telling the club of his intentions to leave earlier this summer.

It's said that Mendes informed the club that Ronaldo has a 'live offer' and that a transfer fee must be named for his star.

The report does not claim which side are interested in signing Ronaldo.

As well as Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, the likes of Chelsea and Napoli have also been linked with Ronaldo this summer.

It was reported by Sportsmail on Wednesday that Ronaldo had asked to be released from his £360,000-per-week contract ahead of its final year.

Cristiano Ronaldo 'wants to decide on his next club BEFORE Man United begin the new season on Sunday' despite training with his team-mates today, as wantaway star pushes to leave Old Trafford

* Cristiano Ronaldo wishes to depart this summer for a Champions League club
* Manchester United have stated that they wish to hold onto their superstar
* The Portuguese forward played in the club's final pre-season friendly on Sunday

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly desperate to have his future resolved before Manchester United's opening game of the Premier League season this weekend.

The Portuguese star wishes to depart the club this summer in search of Champions League football with the former Real Madrid star still harboring hopes of claiming his sixth European Cup.

Arriving at training in his Rolls Royce, Ronaldo was photographed driving through the Carrington gates this morning, just days before the opening fixture.

According to AS, the Portuguese superstar is determined to find a new club before United play their season opener against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Carrington ahead of training only five days out from the start of Manchester United's season

But he is running out of time and the forward may end up starting the new season at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo made his Manchester United return over the weekend against Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano, with the Portuguese playing for 45 minutes before departing the ground before the end of the 90 minutes.

His appearance in the pre-season friendly raises the prospect of Ronaldo being thrown in straight away against Brighton on Sunday.

The forward did not travel on the club's pre-season tour which went to Asia, Australia and then finished in Norway but could have an important part to play from the start of the season.

What was meant to be an important summer of rebuilding under Erik ten Hag has been somewhat dominated by the circus surrounding Ronaldo's future.

Since it first emerged that he wished to depart all the way back at the outset of the window, various clubs have been touted to be chasing his signature before appearing to distance themselves.

Atletico Madrid, with whom Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes enjoys a solid working relationship, were the latest club to be linked but those rumours were soon squashed.

United themselves initially refused to comment on the saga, but have since clarified that they have no issues with the Portuguese. Their preference is for the forward to remain at the club this season.

Ronaldo, who only returned to the club last summer after departing in 2009 for Real Madrid, wishes to remain at the pinnacle of the game and lucrative offers from the Middle East or the United States do not appear to have piqued his interest quite yet.

Meanwhile, boss Erik ten Hag has been left sweating over the fitness of Anthony Martial just five days out from their Premier League opener.

Ronaldo wishes to depart the club this summer but made his return to the side against Rayo Vallecano over the weekend - though he only played 45 minutes and left the ground early

The Frenchman picked up an injury in United's 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in pre-season, leaving the pitch after an hour holding his hamstring.

Though his availability for this weekend's clash with Brighton is under some doubt, he has been pictured arriving into Carrington on Tuesday.

Having fallen out of favour last season and sent on loan to Sevilla, Martial might have expected to depart the club this summer but he instead played a prominent role in pre-season and is likely to play a key role in Ten Hag's plans moving forward.

Goals against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace have offered some encouragement that Martial could become a major player for United again after a number of seasons in which he struggled to match his early promise.

Despite United not wanting to let Ronaldo leave and Martial's potential injury, Ronaldo’s agent, Mendes, is still actively trying to find his client a new club before the end of the transfer window and will do 'everything he can' to make a move happen.

Reports have persisted all summer that Ronaldo wants to play at the highest level he can in the winter of his career.

United’s seventh place finish last season does not afford him that, but finding Ronaldo a new suitor has proven harder work that perhaps Mendes imagined.

But just last week, Ronaldo had a pretty cryptic response to a fan account on Instagram, where he hit out at the media amid intense speculation over his next destination.

'Impossible not to talk about me one day,' Ronaldo wrote. 'Otherwise the press makes no money. You know that if you don’t lie you can’t get people’s attention. Keep going that one day you get some news right.'

'No club in Europe wants him, Ten Hag doesn't want him and I'm not sure the dressing room at Man United want Cristiano Ronaldo': Jamie Carragher SLAMS veteran for trying to engineer a move

* Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Man United due to lack of Champions League
* He caused further controversy by leaving the Rayo Vallecano friendly early
* Man United boss Erik ten Hag has since slammed the decision as 'unacceptable'
* Jamie Carragher believes neither Ten Hag nor his team-mates want him at club

Jamie Carragher is convinced Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer wanted at Manchester United and reiterated he cannot believe he was re-signed by the club last summer.

Ronaldo wants out of the club as United have no Champions League football this season, just a year after he made a sensational return to Old Trafford from Juventus in 2021.

The wantaway Portuguese star caused further controversy at the weekend by leaving before the end of their 1-1 friendly draw against Rayo Vallecano, something new boss Erik ten Hag has since labelled 'unacceptable'.

Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have all been linked with a summer move for Ronaldo but all three clubs have distanced themselves from those reports.

And Carragher, speaking on the Overlap, in partnership with Sky Bet, believes the lack of interest in him from other clubs means United will struggle to get their 'bizarre' signing from last season out of Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.

'I always thought he [Ronaldo] was a bizarre signing,' Carragher said. 'I always felt this situation would come, even if Ronaldo did great for you [Manchester United].

'He signed a two-year deal plus another year, which I couldn't believe, and he's never going to play second fiddle to anyone but as players at a certain stage in your career we all know that you're not the same player, and his career has gone on longer because he's such a great professional.

Ronaldo sensationally left Manchester United's friendly with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday early. Carragher believes Ronaldo is no longer the same player and is not wanted by clubs in Europe

'But the fact he's now 37, 38 this season, he's not the same player. He's still a great goalscorer but he's not the same player. No other club in Europe at this moment wants him, I might be wrong.

'But it doesn't look like United can get him out, so at the moment other clubs don't want him. And I think if you asked Ten Hag, I don't think he wants him. And I'm not quite sure the dressing room at Manchester United would want Cristiano Ronaldo right now.'

United have so far maintained that he is not for sale, with the former Real Madrid man still having one year remaining on his contract.

It is understood the forward's agent, Jorge Mendes, has informed United of an offer and wants the Red Devils to name their price.

And former United defender Gary Neville believes selling Ronaldo remains the club's only option, because they cannot afford to have their star player 'playing up' in the dressing room, comparing the situation to that of recently departed Paul Pogba.

'Let me be really clear, Ronaldo's achievements in football go beyond anything that anybody could ever wish for and imagine' Neville said.

'He'll go down in the top players of all time and always will be, and what happens this summer at Manchester United will be forgotten about in 20 years.

'But it's unpalatable for me to watch, as an ex-Manchester United captain, an ex-Manchester United senior player, and thinking that at this moment in time the star player in the dressing room is playing up.

'It happened at times over the last few years where you had Pogba's agent – not necessarily Pogba all the time but his agent [Mino Raiola] – always playing up with the club.

'You can't have your star player in a club running the shop. You cannot have it.'

United had a productive pre-season, with Anthony Martial in particular impressing in forward positions. And Neville believes that is enough encouragement to continue without the 37-year-old in the side.

'We know he [Ronaldo] can’t do that [high pressing] – and the way in which he wants to play on the ball, I'm not sure he fits into Ten Hag's way.

'When that statement came out that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave and then the Monday morning I think something else came out – I'm not sure the club were even aware.

'The timing was horrific coming into the start of the season, it undermined Ten Hag straight away – it meant that Ten Hag literally has had every single press conference that he does is just obliterated by the Ronaldo issue.

'I think looking back, Pep [Gaurdiola], [Jurgen] Klopp, [Antonio] Conte, Sir Alex Ferguson – if a player becomes the dominating factor, and a distraction in the press conference for a manager, there's only one thing that has to happen. We all know it.'

'It takes time, you cannot force it': Erik ten Hag calls for patience after his bold call to bench Cristiano Ronaldo in defeat by Brighton... as he says the wantaway star 'has to do more to get fit'

* Erik ten Hag has implored wantaway Cristiano Ronaldo to 'do more to get fit'
* The Dutch coach admitted that he needs to be patient with the Portuguese star
* Ronaldo missed most of pre-season after trying to find an exit from Old Trafford

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has challenged Cristiano Ronaldo to improve his fitness levels as soon as possible, keen to utilise the wantaway star following his substitute appearance against Brighton.

The Red Devils made a disappointing start to their Premier League campaign with a 2-1 home defeat to Graham Potter's side, who put United two goals down at the end of the first-half.

Ronaldo, who missed out on most of pre-season after expressing his desire to exit Old Trafford, came on in the second-half to help United claw one back.

After the match, Ten Hag urged his Portuguese superstar to 'do more' to get up to full fitness.

The Dutchman told Sky Sports: 'It takes time, you cannot force it. He is one week in training.

Erik ten Hag implored Cristiano Ronaldo to 'do more to get fit' after missing most of pre-season. The Portuguese star was named on the bench during Man United's 2-1 defeat to Brighton

'He has to do more to get fit. This game will help and he will be better next week.'

The Red Devils manager preferred the shape of his United side after Ronaldo's introduction, with creative new playmaker Christian Eriksen able to drop deeper into midfield.

'It was clear to see in the second half we were better in the midfield,' he said. 'Christian Eriksen down and Cristiano Ronaldo up.

'We created and had really good chances. It is a pity we didn't score them.'

Default Re: Cristiano Ronaldo

Erik ten Hag 'has changed his mind and is now open to letting Cristiano Ronaldo LEAVE Man United... with wantaway star eating alone at Carrington and arguing against high-pressing approach'

* Cristiano Ronaldo made his desire to leave Man United clear earlier this summer
* Erik ten Hag had been adamant the 37-year-old would not leave Old Trafford
* Ronaldo's difficult reintegration back into the side has changed Ten Hag's mind
* Portuguese has also been seen flapping his arms about in training at Carrington

Erik ten Hag has reportedly had a change of heart regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Manchester United and is now open to letting the wantaway forward to leave.

The 37-year-old's future at Old Trafford has been up in the air ever since he declared his intention to quit the club earlier in the summer following their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Ten Hag - who became the club's first manager in 101 years to lose his first two games following their 4-0 hammering at Brentford on Saturday - has remained adamant throughout the transfer window that Ronaldo remains part of his plans for this season.

But The Athletic claim the 52-year-old has now changed his mind and is open to letting Ronaldo leave, citing his difficult reintegration back into the squad after he missed most of pre-season due to family reasons.

The report claims that since returning to the fold, there have been days where Ronaldo sits by himself during lunch at the canteen at their Carrington training ground.

The same outlet reports there have also been instances of him flapping his arms about in training and trying to argue against the high-pressing approach implemented by Ten Hag.

Sportsmail understands that while Ronaldo is said to be training well, he exchanged words with Ten Hag's No 2 Steve McClaren at the final whistle after refusing to applaud United's travelling fans, and there is a feeling that his mood is having a negative effect on the dressing room.

However, United have dismissed suggestions that Ronaldo's contract could be cancelled and reiterated that he is staying at the club.

The Athletic insists United will only consider selling the Portugal international if they can recruit in the forward areas, which they have found beyond difficult this summer and their need has been exacerbated by Anthony Martial's injury.

Options for Ronaldo appear few and far between, with a host of clubs opting against a move for the Portuguese this summer.

United had bid £7.5m for former West Ham and Stoke forward Marko Arnautovic last week, before opting to pull out of a potential deal for the Bologna star following a huge backlash from fans.

Another player United were linked with was RB Salzburg star Benjamin Sesko but the club were beaten to a deal for the promising Slovenian by RB Leipzig, while Alvaro Morata is also a rumoured target.

They have now reportedly contacted PSG forward Mauro Icardi's representatives via intermediaries, while United are reportedly also considering a shock swoop for Jamie Vardy.

Vardy is into his 10th season at the King Power Stadium and it remains to be seen whether a move to Old Trafford would be of interest to the striker at this stage of his Career.

The former England international has resisted the overtures of a so-called top six club before when Arsenal approached Leicester for the striker in the wake of the Foxes' miraculous title win in 2016.
