JOSE: ALEXIS WILL BE BETTER NEXT SEASON

Jose Mourinho has praised the character of new signing Alexis Sanchez and said that fans will see more from the Chilean forward next season.

Speaking to the media ahead of Manchester United's clash against Liverpool on Saturday, the boss said that the club have not yet got the best out of Alexis due to him joining the Reds in the January transfer window.

"He came in the worst moment of the season, which is the winter market," explained Jose in his press conference at the Aon Training Complex. "That's why I don't like the winter market very much.

"I think this [signing Alexis] was a chance that we didn't want to lose and we made it, but we don't believe a lot in the winter market and, for sure, next season it will be better for him."

Despite this, Alexis hasn't shied away from the limelight in his opening month at Old Trafford, which included assists in the FA Cup against Yeovil Town and Huddersfield Town and a Man of the Match display against the Terriers in the league, when he scored his first goal in United colours.

"He's not afraid to take responsibility," Mourinho added. "Not afraid to try to make things to happen, when he feels that he's not as dangerous as you'd like him to be. He drops back, he tries things, he tries to come to building up areas. When he makes mistakes, he tries to compensate immediately."

When asked about whether the Chilean was disappointed with how his United career has started, Mourinho was quick to assure reporters that the former Arsenal man was settling in well.

"He's fine," said Jose. "He's happy that the team is getting results. Lately, he wasn't happy when we lost matches with him but he's a guy with great maturity, with great attitude and we couldn't be happier."

Liverpool - Alexis Sanchez dianggap sudah melewati masa keemasannya saat ini. Begitulah penilaian mantan pemain Liverpool dan Manchester City, Dietmar Hamann.

Sanchez didatangkan MU Januari lalu dari Arsenal yang mendapat Henrik Mkhitaryan sebagai alat tukarnya. Kedatangan Sanchez lantas membuat para pendukung MU bersorak-sorai.

Wajar adanya mengingat pencapaian Sanchez selama 3,5 musim berseragam Arsenal. Dia adalah mesin gol The Gunners dengan torehan 80 gol dari 165 penampilan di seluruh kompetisi, termasuk 60 di Premier League.

Melihat performa Romelu Lukaku yang belum impresif sejauh ini, kedatangan Sanchez diharapkan bisa mempertajam lini serang MU. Tapi kenyataan berbeda jauh dengan harapan.

Sanchez baru bikin satu gol dan dua assist dari delapan penampilan. Bahkan untuk memaksimalkan Sanchez, manajer Jose Mourinho sampai harus memainkannya di tengah, kanan, dan kiri.

Menurut Mourinho, Sanchez kesulitan saat ini karena masih dalam proses adaptasi dan publik diminta menunggu penampilan terbaik pesepakbola Chile itu musim depan.

Tapi Hamann tidak sependapat dengan Mourinho karena masa keemasan Sanchez diyakini sudah dilewatinya di Arsenal. Kini MU harus menerima Sanchez dengan sisa-sisa tenaganya.

"Saya tidak yakin apakah dia bisa memberikan dampak kepada tim seperti halnya tiga tahun lalu," ujar Hamann seperti dikutip Soccerway.

"Saya rasa dia sudah di pengujung umur 20-an, dia pemain yang sangat mengandalkan fisik, Anda harus melihat berapa lama lagi dia bisa bermain di level teratas atau minimal level yang sangat bagus."

"Dan saya sendiri tak yakin apakah dia masih pemain yang sama seperti saat dia pertama kali datang ke Arsenal," tutup Hamann yang memperkuat Liverpool 1999-2006 serta City 2006-2009.

Manchester - Di tengah kemenangan Manchester United atas Liverpool 2-1, penampilan Alexis Sanchez disorot. Sanchez belum juga mencetak gol lagi.

Pertandingan MU dengan Liverpool di Old Trafford, Sabtu (10/3/2018) malam WIB menjadi laga kesembilan Sanchez. Setan Merah meraih kemenangan dengan skor 2-1. Dua gol MU diborong Marcus Rashford pada babak pertama. Liverpool membalas dengan satu gol lewat gol bunuh diri Eric Bailly.

Artinya, Sanchez kembali belum dapat menambah gol untuk MU. Satu-satunya gol diciptakan Sanchez untuk MU saat menghadapi Huddersfield dalam lanjutan Premier League.

Sebelum pertandingan dengan Liverpool, manajer MU Jose Mourinho sempat menyinggung produktivitas Sanchez. Dia masih memaklumi penampilan pemain Chile 29 tahun itu.

"Dia sedang belajar bagaimana bermain bersama kami. Kami pun tengah belajar bagaimana mengeluarkan kemampuan terbaiknya," kata Mourinho seperti dilansir Sky Sports.

"Dia cukup bagus kok. Dia tidak takut untuk mengambil tanggung jawab, tidak takut membuat sesuatu terjadi. Ketika dia merasa tak berbahaya seperti seharusnya, dia mundur dan melakukan sesuatu," ujar Mourinho.

"Ketika dia membuat kesalahan, dia segera mencari kompensasinya sesegera mungkin dengan penuh semangat, dengan transisi yang sip dan mencoba memenangi bola," tutur manajer asal Portugal itu.

Dalam laga dengan Liverpool itu, Sanchez tampil tak buruk-buruk amat. Bermain sejak menit pertama, Sanchez membuat dua keypasses dengan persentase 57,1 persen dan 45 sentuhan bola. Whoscored memberikan ponten 7,13 untuk penampilannya.

Jose Mourinho says Manchester United won't see the best of Alexis Sanchez until next season, but we expect better than this.

This was a night when Sanchez could have risen above the mediocrity of his first two months at Old Trafford. A night for the highest-paid player in the Premier League to put in a big performance on the big stage.

Instead, he largely disappeared, lost amid Mourinho's muddled plan and the inadequacies of his team-mates.

How United got it so badly wrong will take some figuring out, but no-one was more disappointing on the night than Sanchez.

When United gazumped Manchester City to sign him from Arsenal in January, it was in the hope that he could take them to another level.

That may well happen in time, and there is no doubt that he remains a supremely talented footballer. But, right now, he looks remarkably ordinary.

A return of one goal from 10 games – a follow-up from a penalty he had saved against Huddersfield – is well below expectation.

Nor is Sanchez adding a great deal in terms of assists. His one key contribution on Tuesday night was a clever one-two with Marouane Fellaini in the 38th minute which resulted in the Belgian having a shot saved at the near post.

Otherwise, he was an impotent figure in the game. In those last desperate minutes when United threw all they had at Sevilla – a time when star players are relied upon to produce a moment of magic – he went missing again.

The Chilean was not alone in under-achieving, of course. Paul Pogba came on for Fellaini and misplaced a string of passes. Romelu Lukaku missed a glaring opportunity before scoring to give United a glimmer of hope. How costly was that?

Even David De Gea, United's saviour in Spain three weeks ago, as he has been on so many occasions in recent seasons, will feel that he could have done more to keep out Wissam Ben Yedder's second goal that effectively nudged this tie out of United's reach.

All over the pitch, Mourinho had big names who did not deliver when it mattered most. In pushing for the two goals needed to salvage their Champions League hopes, the truth is that United were lucky not to concede twice as many at the other end.

Mourinho was first down the tunnel at the final whistle closely followed by Pogba and the rest of his crestfallen stars.

A Champions League winner against the odds on two occasions with Porto and Inter Milan, he will have fancied his chances in this competition more than he cared to admit beforehand. And why not with the squad at his disposal?

Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final against Brighton here has now taken on huge proportions. It has become a season-defining game in the hunt for a trophy.

Waiting for things to get better next season is simply not good enough for a club like United – or a player like Alexis Sanchez.

A second-half brace from substitute Wissam Ben Yedder sent Sevilla into the quarter-finals at United's expense at Old Trafford.

And the former midfielder lay some of the blame at Mourinho continuing to shoehorn his marquee January signing into the starting lineup.

'(Marcus) Rashford was frightening and played well on the left but he changed him to bring Sanchez into his best position', he said on BT Sport after the game.

'I think Marcus' best position is on the left but Sanchez gave the ball away so many times.

'Surely the manager has to see that for the last four or five games Sanchez has not been good enough.

Rio Ferdinand echoed his former team-mate's thoughts and claimed he was playing well below the best he displayed at Arsenal.

'When you go to a team to play you don't lose all your talent. In some ways I feel sorry for him but it's just not going for him. The whole 11 were shocking.

Steven Gerrard joined in the condemnation, calling the Chilean's performance 'poor'.

He added :'If you want to progress you need your big players to perform. None of them turned up for Mourinho tonight.'

Manchester - Alexis Sanchez belum genap tiga bulan jadi pemain Manchester United. Tapi dia sudah memastikan kalau The Red Devils bukanlah klub terakhirnya.

Sanchez bergabung dengan Manchester United Januari lalu melalui sebuah kesepakatan ytransfer bernilai besar. Bukan itu saja, pemain depan asal Chile itu menerima gaji sebesar 350 ribu pound per pekan. Itu belum termasuk bonus, yang jika ditotal akan membuat dia mengantongi tiga kali lipat dari yang diterima di Arsenal.

Tapi performa Sanchez belum terlalu mengilat sejauh ini. Dia baru mencetak sebiji gol dan dua assist dalam 10 pertandingan di semua kompetisi. Kritik mulai datang ke arahnya.

"Tekanan sama sekali tidak memengaruhi saya. Itu malah membantu saya. Semakin besar tekanan yang datang, saya merasa semakin baik. Saya merasa menjadi pemain penting di level dunia. Menjadi pemain dengan bayaran tertinggi di Premier League membuat saya bangga menjadi orang Chile," ucap Alexis pada salah satu televisi Chile dikutip Mirror.

Pesepakbola yang sempat memperkuat Udinese dan Barcelona itu tak berniat menghabiskan kariernya di Old Trafford. Dia ingin pulang ke kampung halamannya dan memperkuat Univesidad de Chile.

Alexis ingin memenuhi keinginan Jose Delaigue agar dirinya main di klub tersebut. Delaigue adalah sosok yang dianggap ayah oleh Alexis.

Delaigue sudah meninggal dunia pada 2011 karena kanker hati.

"Saya pikir itu adalah mimpi keluarga saya. Ayah saya yang sedang di surga adalah pencinta La U (Univesidad de Chile) dan sebagian besar keluarga ingin saya mengakhiri karier di sana," tutur pemain 29 tahun itu.

"Ayah adalah pilar keluarga dan kadang seseorang melakukan sesuatu untuk keluarganya. Sebelumnya saya bermain untuk Colo Colo (Rival La U), dan memenangi banyak hal di sana. Tapi, orang harus memengerti (jika saya bergabung dengan La U) karena itu adalah mimpi ayah saya dan Tuhan ingin saya merealisasikannya."

"Mimpi Saya adalah menjadi pesepakbola dan menolong keluarga. Sekarang saya menyentuh bola dan bahagia," ungkap Sanchez.

Mendengar pernyataan itu, akun twitter resmi La U pun membuat unggahan berisi emoji hati dan kiss. Mereka sepertinya sudah tak sabar memiliki seorang Sanchez.

'Alexis is a great player but we didn't used to get on out on the pitch,' said Rojo.

United bosses are said to be concerned that Sanchez's mammoth salary could lead to other transfer targets demanding inflated wages in negotiations this summer.

Mourinho admitted recently that United will not see the best of Sanchez until next season, and team-mates talk of a supremely gifted footballer who produces moments of magic in training that he cannot reproduce in games.

There is a feeling at United that Sanchez would benefit from a more central role instead of playing wide of Romelu Lukaku in a 4-3-3 formation that has left Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard competing for one position on the other flank.

Mourinho's relationship with Paul Pogba is also under scrutiny again after France coach Didier Deschamps claimed United's record signing 'cannot be happy' about being dropped in recent games.
