Gerhard Tremmel believes his recent big-match experience provides ideal preparation for Manchester United’s trip to the Liberty on Sunday.

During Michel Vorm’s stint on the sidelines due to a groin injury, Tremmel has featured 11 times against the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

The German keeper, who arrived in SA1 on a free transfer in August 2011 after a successful trial, has made a number of impressive performances along with keeping three clean sheets.

And he said he is relishing the possibility of featuring against Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

“It would be a dream to play against Manchester United,” said Tremmel, who began his career in Bayern Munich’s Youth ranks.

“But in all fairness I’ve played a lot of big games against top teams in the last few weeks. Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea — those experiences will help me.

“I am not afraid of Manchester United. Of course, it is a big story to play against them, but they just have 11 players. They have good players, but so have the other teams.

“We played Manchester City who have magnificent offensive players, but we only conceded one goal. I believe we will do a great job, especially because we are at home.

“We also have a good team so why can’t we get something out of the game?”

Tremmel was among the substitutes in the corresponding fixture last season, with United running out 1-0 victors at the Liberty after Javier Hernandez’s early strike.

But the 34-year-old believes the Swans are better equipped this time around, having enjoyed a first season in the Barclays Premier League.

And with this game the first of four games in a busy nine-day period, Tremmel insists a positive result on Sunday will provide a great boost for the Swans.

“Christmas is coming up and we have important games.
