Ferguson: Rooney & Berbatov reminiscent of Cole & Yorke

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is unconcerned by Wayne Rooney’s lack of goals thus far this season, and believes the 25-year-old’s blossoming strike partnership with Dimitar Berbatov has the potential to be as prolific as Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole’s.

Rooney has scored just three goals this season compared to Berbatov’s 20 and Javier Hernanez’s 11, but Ferguson has rubbished reports the striker could be dropped for this evening’s Premier League encounter with Aston Villa.

Ferguson concedes Rooney is not as prolific as season but claims he has been integral to the aforementioned Bulgarian’s superb campaign, and more pertinently the Scot intimates the duo’s partnership has been far more potent this season.

Ferguson told United Review: "Some of our critics are making a meal out of the fact that Wayne Rooney is lagging behind in the goal stakes,

"He is, compared with the bucketload he scored last year, but I am not worried.

"It is the scoring partnership that matters and the combination between our two front men has improved beyond all recognition.

"Last year, Wayne benefited from Dimitar's work but this year it is Berbatov enjoying the last touch.

"If we finish the season with Berbatov scoring 30 and Wayne on 10 - and those are the targets I have in mind - I will be more than happy.

"That is what I call a successful strike partnership, reminiscent of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke."

bener juga sih, sebenernya pas awal2 berba ama rooney mulai kompakan agak keinget duo maut ini juga pas jaman dulu *terharu* yah mudah2an aja bisa melebihi andy cole -dwight yorke di zamannya XDD go!! pasti berba & roo bisa

udah agak lupa sih perjalanan Cole sm Yorke..tp yg membekas adalah dua2nya sering assist satu sama lain jadi kadang Cole yg golin, kadang Yorke yg golin..

Rooney sm Berbatov bisa dibilang permainannya mirip2 jika menggabungkan..tp klo secara pribadi2 gak berani komentar deh

oh ya ntr sumber kalo udah nemu kompi, td lupa..

Kalo menurut gw memang 9-10, kadang punya link up bgs satu sama lain, saling assist, gol yg satu akibat pengaruh yg lain, tapi persentase msh kecil buat sekarang kalo dibanding kan 9-19 dulu.
